I lost 15mins to this upgraded version of the hermit, the best luck absolutely possible then this, i hate this game
also this was a opheus only, no velvet room challenge so using a aeon fused weapon would've probably killed it.........in which I would need to fuse to get it...........yay

(Scroll down for TLDR)Alright since alot of people are confused about like why i have ultimate personas, and why this boss has new moves like megidolon and other shit like that This is the persona 3 portable version that im playing on my PS5, in that version there is a new door in the entrance of tartarus that always you to fight powered up versions of all the full moon bosses also this was an orpheus only no velvet room run, and I knew this fight would be hard af and would take FOREVER to get lucky enough to kill it, so when i get this far on my SECOND ATTEMPT, im def nervous af about my choices lol, just wanted to clear up some things TLDR; this is the portable version, this was a orpheus only no velvet room challenge, version has powered up versions, 2nd attempt so im nervous

Evil Smile into Ghastly Wail is the most BS strategy in the entire franchise IMO. Basically Mahamaon/Mamudoon but even more stupid because it has a 100 percent hit rate if you're afraid. I hate any boss battle in any Persona game that's built around that.

@@overrated2975 I rarely use those unfortunately, because there are typically more useful accessories that are better at a wide variety of things. Although I do throw those accessories on for fights that revolve entirely around Fear IKs, that's rarely the only thing the boss does, such as Adachi in P4 who does use Ghastly Wail shenanigans, but also has all the "Ma-dyne" skills as well as stuff like Power Charge, so I cover weaknesses instead of nulling fear. I'd rather defend against something I'm 100% likely to get hit by rather than something I'm 20% likely to get hit by, although that is just my strategy personally.

OK... One, he freaking hit all four of you with that Mamudoon, and two, I had no idea that if you survive an IK skill with a Homunculus, you become downed if you're weak to Light/Dark. Is that a thing in Persona5 and Persona3 Reload for the original Light and Dark IK skills, or is that no longer an issue?

I believe it does happen. From what I recall, if youre already downed from something else and get hit by a IK spell which uses a homonculus you auto get back up too.

@@TrueForm Jeez, I'm surprised that's not happened to me yet. During my 100 hours of Persona3 Reload I've survived plenty of Hamaons/Mudoons with Homunculi and I haven't been weak to one once I guess XD.

It’s mostly a gamble but you could have attacked it while it was frozen, there’s always the chance of getting a critical hit In while it is suffering a status ailment. You went with the safe route and healed and that’s always commendable

Power/Mind Charge actually _hurts_ your DPS in FES/Portable. It's a 1.9x multiplier for some stupid reason, so you're legit losing damage vs attacking twice

@@RayChas1204 If I recall correctly, a -dyne spell with its respective Amp actually outdamages Megidolaon by a bit, and moreso with Boost as well. As for Power and Mind Charge, they still have some viability if you have to wait for a good opportunity to attack (or any at all). Or if you manage to get both buffs from a well-timed Oracle, since it doesn't cost you a turn.

these comments are wild as shit. people literally said use ziodyne on a boss infamous for being electric based. however, other people were like have elec break, idk about in portable, and I'm sure it's not necessary at all in reload, but fes, for sure, mostly for tartarus bosses though. I am not an expert in persona or any smt game for that matter, but there are worse plays that could have been made, my biggest question was why were you nervous to the point you started randomly going through the skill list? I know this was a challenge run, but were you also trying to speedrun too? i did research to make sure that question wasn't fucking stupid, but idk.

I was nervous cause this was the hardest out of any of the door superbosses, hermit has everything that would make someone lose their minds, mamudoon, megidolaon, mind charge, maziodyne, and the big electric attack, which makes yukari and aegis barely playable for this fight, which are way better than ken tbh, and the fact, two of his elements are what orpheus is weak to, this is hell for me going orpheus only, and no velvet room, and since this was my second attempt and I got this far, so I was nervous

I'd say, going orpheus only can be a plus during moments like boss fights that don't exploit your electric and dark weaknesses (like this one but its a superboss version of hermit), and during this run of orpheus only I have noticed some fights feel alot easier since I don't need to do much of anything else but build stats at arcades, most likely due to my knowledge and It being my second playthrough of the game

Assuming it's not different for Portable, a melee attack when it was frozen would've gotten you a guaranteed Critical, letting you All-Out Attack it.

The 3D models are probably upscaled by the emulator, but you can still tell this is Portable from of the UI and because you can still act in the same turn you recover from being knocked down. Also, there are mods for the PS2 games that enable party control, but they are somewhat buggy (e.g. every party member can cast fusion spells) and feel like cheating, so I avoid them.
