'The Rematch' Gretna vs Westside (Nebraska Class A State Championship Game) will be played this Monday at 7:15pm in Lincoln Nebraska at Memorial Stadium. Gretna beat Westside in the State Championship Game Last Year, but the State Championship was vacated due to the findings that Gretna used an ineligible player all season long. Supposedly, Westside is the ones who reported Gretna for the ineligible player. They will come again to play in the Nebraska State Championship 2022, it is a rematch of last years game. Jenks vs Union in Tulsa Oklahoma 2000. That was the biggest high school game I’ve ever seen, and I live in Texas now. I was in 6th grade and drove with my family from the other side of the state. A lot of D1 players on both sides, and they packed a college stadium of almost 40k people. I’ll never forget it. It was like watching a college game

it was an ALL TIME GREAT GAME.. final score was 43-41... The Red Team (westside) won on a 45 yard field goal as time expired. You can look it up... Google 'Gretna vs Westside 2022 state championship'

The reason the gretna player was ineligible was because his parents got divorced and he had two different addresses and one wasn’t in the gretna school district and ig that’s illegal.

I could see if they brought the kid in from out of state just for football that would be different. Even the 2nd place team that are the champions now it sucks for. They didn't get to celebrate on the field with their team and families. Just a oh by the way you guys are champs after all. We Just got to get the trophy back from the team that beat you then you can have it. Bad situation all around hopefully everyone learned from it

I graduated from Ralston in 1962. Gretna was in our conference Class B. Westside was class A. We played them both yearly. Westside always beat us crushed us. The star player went to University of Nebraska and then played with the St Louis Cardinals as a defensive back as I recall for a decade or so. Cannot remember his name. I remember he could run up from the backfield jump on his lineman and try to block kicks.
