DK Oldies are the epitome of what is killing retro collecting. It's people like this who are making the drive to hardware and software emulation all the more necessary.

Dkoldies addressed this once on why they are marked so high on prices and they said it was due to the fact that they have to many workers and they need to get paid. I don't think it's a good idea to overprice games and systems to pay your workers a big paycheck I mean honestly if you can't afford to pay your employees a big check don't overprice your games sell them at reasonable prices and downsize on workers that you can afford to pay

I realized years ago that it is futile to collect this stuff physical. I can never own it all especially for the price they are charging and the fact that I don't have anywhere to store such a collection. Got myself a raspberry pie and never looked back. Btw these prices are OUTRAGEOUS.

I understand if some retro games are a bit expensive, but the prices they have on their site are laughable. This is why I emulate mostly everything retro at this point. No regrets either. The fact they want to charge $200+ for a standard PS2 with all of the cables is absolutely insane.

I am a private seller and everything I have in my inventory is at least 40-60% LESS than dk oldies. That store is the definition of corruption but what makes it worse are the people who gets easily baited.

I just love how they are calling used original controllers as "premium upgrade" . Not new, not like new but used controllers with sometimes replaced cheap analogue sticks . I am ready to pay extra for refurbished old consoles if they are in like new condition after refurbishing but if refurbishing process is starting and ending with removing dust it is not fait .

🤣 I reached out to them after their rare games by console short they did. I wanted to sell or trade in 4 of the games from their video, some of them were not in stock on the website. They declined... Flat out told me they didn't wanna take on the investment of multiple high value games...

I bought 2 "refurbished" GC controllers for $50 and $55 from DKOldies and the buttons were mushy af. I emailed DKOldies and they claim they never replace the rubber behind the buttons. I emded up replacing it myself. Never again

My experience with DKOldies is buying a copy of WCW NWO Revenge for N64 which was at a solid price of 17 dollars and didn’t think about it at the time, then I check what’s going on now and wow I dodged a bullet.

As someone who hasn't bought anything from them but has looked at their site i believe it is more for people who don't want to look around for games and take the time to get a good deal.... Honestly people will pay what they think it's worth to them so most of the problem is the people buying the stuff. It sells and not all games are easy to come by anymore of course the prices are going to go up. Plus alot of these games were from the time I was a child and idk about yall that are interested in games but as soon as I got out of school and got a job I started buying back my old games that I've lost or broken from being a kid it's all a game of supply and demand.

My friend ordered a PS2 and 2 games when he got the order in September last year the PS2 wouldn't work or turn and he also ordered Simpson's Hit And Run and Sonic Riders when he looked at the discs they were completely scratched so he contacted customer support and told them and still to this day hasn't heard back from them

I’ve restored broken 10 dollar PS2s to factory new condition for next to NOTHING! Laser replacements on those that are dead and they work GREAT! For that bundle WITH a factory controller for resale I wouldn’t go more than 120, 90-100 would be more than fair especially for like new condition with a better laser, all the cleaning and drive care inside

Thing is what they are doing is called "creating a fake discount sale" which is actually illegal. You can't present something as a discount sale, without selling it in the original price. If you use the way back machine on their site. Their "discount" prices have always been there, for years. They were never at their original price. So not only are they shady, but they are also breaking the law.

I bought my PS2 for $149 on eBay with the box and original receipt from 2003. It's not worth around $200 or more, especially if it's the console itself. I doubt they refurbish the PS2 systems they have. Mine was.

They overprice it to pay employees but half them are sitting around doing nothing in most vids I seen of DK. Do you seriously need 5 cleaners at a table cleaning consoles? Nope. I could clean hundreds of consoles daily and I doubt they’re receiving a lot of new ones in. Then half of them aren’t even cleaned at all from videos I’ve seen of people who actually ordered from them.

all i have to say is that many retro consoles/games are not as easy to come by everyday. these people are genuine and ensure that what people order is what they get. hell they even go through the effort to refurbish and repair their products, pick out counterfeit games and systems, and even list some items as “cosmetically flawed.” also, buying off of ebay doesn’t give you the guarantee that the systems will work (or not work) out of box, let alone being refurbished. DKO goes through that effort to sell working consoles and games. they have a good thing going, and that kind of effort for that kind of business is worth every dollar

They are actually offering minimum window eBay prices for games / consoles to then further up charge the price just to make sure that they do not loose the sale , especially if they know they are dealing with an uninformed parrent or grandparent , younger child… to then add the triple / quadruple the price on their website The one example the local Gamestore owner told me was a parrent with child was trying to trade in a gameboy advance SP , the game store offered them a reasonable trade in to then when they child and parrent didn’t like what they heard , they said “ well DKOldies told me over the phone before they can offer about 60% more then what you just offered “ and walked out the store and the game store owner said this happends 2-4 times a week They are beggining to mess with inflation and on top of it do not even send out games or hard ware in well condition for the astronomical prices they call for. They got a whole lot of effin balls and I’m really starting to get tired of it now 😡

I think it's ok to charge higher prices because it's up to the customers to decide if they want to buy from them. However it's a little bit dishonest at the same time if your customer base lacks real knowledge about retro gaming and they kind of targeting people who don't know the real value of stuff.

In The UK you can buy WIIs for like £10 To £20 And The Games from 50p to £10. £20 £25 If It is really rare. Same for The PS2. Honestly They are con men. Also they dont even give you boxes for your games half the time.

At the end of the day, DK oldies isn't really to blame. It's the people that still buy from them. I agree their pricing is outrageous, but at the end of the day it is their stock and they can price it whatever they want. The people who still buy from them have the options to go to local game stores, facebook marketplace, ebay etc. So really it's shame on the people buying from them. Same way I view scalpers with the PS5. What they did was disgusting, people people kept buying from them which in turn encourages the scalper to keep doing what they are doing.
