The AVRE is hugely under represented on this game. It could lob HESH to great distances. Accurately it could hit a small pillbox at 2800m, granted that's a static target. I used the AVRE as the head of my 7.0 lineup for Britain whilst I ground out the South African vehicles during BP (I got the Aussie Cent 2 days ago). The AVRE, despite being neutered compared to real world performance in some respects is an underrated premium in my humble opinion. Even before overpressure mechanics were worked into the game, I found it to be very survivable, rarely being 1 shotted and by setting my sights to 200m as soon as I spawn, it gives me a little over 800m range without ranging further. With the ace crew, the reload is still slow but actually not that bad and the ranging estimates out to 1000m are pretty spot on. This being the case, I have been able able use it from behind cover, utilising it's high trajectory to hit targets that cannot see me and return effective fire. Best played in a supporting role, choosing one or 2 people to follow, adding value whenever the that breech slams shut. Honestly, it took a while to get used to but once you do, it becomes one of the most fun and satisfying vehicles to take out (its not tank so I won't use that word)

If Gaijin isn't gonna design decent maps with spawns that aren't perfect for spawn camping, they could at least let us choose to spawn farther back when the enemies start spawn camping. There are multiple maps where the enemy team can sit behind your spawn, not appearing on the map, and just shoot you in the back as soon as your spawn protection ends.
