Look into Knights of the Golden Circle. The South was finding Aztec and Spanish gold, lots of it, and the North thought they should get some of it. The North also wanted to form the Federal Reserve, with help from rich Europeans. Slavery was on it's way out, the North used slavery as an excuse to enslave the whole country to European Bankers. The South wanted financial freedom from Europe, and if the North hadn't stolen their gold, they wouldn't need slaves to get rich. History is just his story, whoever he is.

Yes he did, what he didn't have was the legal authority to do anything about it. The Emancipation Proclamation was in it's time seen as legally questionable that's the reason it was only trying to free slaves in areas of rebellion. That's also why the 13th & 14th Amendments were NEEDED to free all of the remaining slaves and to give them full citizenship rights.

My grandfather was freed at the age of 7. He became a share cropper. By the time I came along, my parents had a 7 room house. By the time I was 12, I lived in a 14 room house with my own bedroom and bathroom. A man should be able to earn his own way through his sweat, education, and brain power. But today, there are those who don't want you to be able to do that. They want to be in charge no matter how smart you are. They put up road blocks to make sure they stay in charge. They think you should fight their fight to stay there while they don't have to participate or risk.

You're a liar- Share Cropping was a post Slave era feudal system designed to keep Emancipated "Free African Labor" in check and ameliorate the dismantling of the mercantile Southern Plantation System and thereby maintain the agrarian/economic viability of the Post Civil War South by providing nominal compensation to "free" Black agrarian workers yet maintain White Ownership of the land. It was during this period that Prison Labor, or Chain-gangs became a regular feature of the antebellum South, thereby Ghosting the 13th Amendment (a constitutional by Product of the Emancipation Proclamation) that set in stone the Legal use of Prisoner Labor as unpaid slave labor. In various nefarious adjustments, Unpaid Prison Labor still exists to this day a la the 13th Amendment.. So telling fanatical stories of how a Black sharecropping family rose to land ownership, secured generational prosperity, built semi-mansions, as a result of Share Cropping system, if at all true, is the extraordinary exception to the rule. Undoubtedly perhaps, there were Blacks carrying the water of post-slavery White Supremacy in Black Face and thus were rewarded or given space to 'Prosper" under the racist class feudal system of Sharecropping. But they were the exceptions not the rule.

Lincoln denigrated black people in his speeches, and ignored the pleas of notable abolitionists for years, because slavery was not a key issue for him, except for the aspect of financially crippling the south and thus preserving the union. Furthermore, northern slaves were not freed by the Proclamation, and in places like Kentucky, they languished for six months more, waiting to be "freed," if you could call the Reconstruction era "free" for black people. The continuation of slavery in the north, as well as the clause for "penal servitude" in the thirteenth amendment, is ample evidence that this agenda did not care one iota for black individuals, their freedom, or their humanity.

@gunshotlagoon922
@gunshotlagoon922 29 күн бұрын
That's not accurate at all. The only "northern slave state" was New Jersey and they only had 16 slaves by the end of the war who were freed within a few months. Kentucky, Missouri, Delaware and Maryland were part of the south who stayed with the Union because their secessionist movements weren't successful. People forget that Lincoln tried to free the slaves in those states first starting with Delaware in November 1861 using federal compensation but they refused. When that idea failed he drew up the Proclamation to target slavery in the states in rebellion. The border states had to wait because there was no legal authority constitutionally to end slavery in them just yet. Yes, Lincoln felt that whites were racially superior but he also felt that just because he believed that doesn't mean other races should not be made equal under the law.

It’s interesting how the narrator mentioned that as the cheap supply of labor dried up, that farm owners turned to slaves for cheap labor. For one, it’s an oversimplification that has a built-in assumption there was compensation involved. Labor typically presumes payment for labor provided. That’s a false narrative. Secondly, turning to African slave labor presumes there was an abundance of labor readily available in America. Once again, an oversimplification. They had to either be bought or stolen from their homeland. The watering down of the atrocities committed during slavery and directed at slaves needs to stop. Virtually all wealth in the USA is connected to generational wealth created during slavery.

He said if I had a choice to free the slaves or not free the slaves I would choose not too The only reason, he even consider freeing the Slaves because the north was losing And they did not have enough white soldiers Willing to Sign Up And Get Out On The Battlefield To Fight and Die The Slaves that Remembered The Promise George Washington Made To Them During The Revolutionary War If They Fight For Them And Win They Will Go Free but as we all know Washington and the newly founded federal government did not keep their promise! In fact he told the slaves /Soldiers you have served me well and go back and serve your Masters After so many of them that have fought for them and died and that is the reason why America won the revolutionary war against the British So that is the reason that Lincoln wrote the emancipation proclamation !!!

And Lincoln didn't want that..If you listen to what he said about the abolition of slavery, you would know.I know this when I had read about the Missouri compromise and the president elected before Lincoln. The president was glad to have Lincoln take up the slack for where the diversion was going on with the nation.He wanted nothing to do with the topic of the division of the nations.

I’ve known about the Lincoln controversy for many years after accidentally stumbling across some general information on 19th century US and U.K. economics. Abe Lincoln didn’t r really give 2 hoots about the lives and welfare of the black American slaves. Maybe 1 or 2 of his idealist associates did, but not Lincoln. If it helped gild his lily then sure he’d probably jump on that bandwagon to gain political favour. For Lincoln the ultimate goal was simply to preserve the Union and to wrestle ‘old school’ and ‘old money’ landed gentry economic and political power from the Southern states. The slaves were just a very convenient pawn to play in this complex game because in many respects they held the keys to seat of power over the Nation.

No he did not care. America wanted to be seen as a super power in the world, but was also the last would be power still actively trading in slaves. Many europeans remarked the americas and carribean had the MOST brutal form of it as well. Feeling pressure and wanting validation, they had no choice but follow suit and end direct slavery. Though it should be known we never ACTUALLY ended slavery, just made it an excemption to be premitted upon incarceration. Which is why so many people are in prison, and why they are treated so poorly, deprived of most rights and protections.

How does it help the union? What slavery has to do or correlate towards the union? Where is the connection still it’s vague ? What does slavery has to do with keeping the union relevant?
@TheGoodCanadian

Slavery was ended because the number of human resources was no longer needed. A modern mechanical cotton gin was created by American inventor Eli Whitney in 1793 and patented in 1794. Further free Black men were going to be given the right to vote. The Fifteenth Amendment (ratified in 1870) extended voting rights to men of all races. However, this amendment was not enough because African Americans were still denied the right to vote. The Democrats only agreed to allow the Black men to vote if they were considered 3 fifth of a human while the Republicans wanted Blacks to be considered 1 vote. This would have given them the majority of power.

Not sure why any of this would concern a Canadian. Slavery was immoral and the nation was going to be split in two. Plus there were various rebellions.

1. Slavery did not only exist because of a need for field labor. 2. The cotton gin INCREASED the need for Slave labor. 3. The 3/5 person was part of the MO. Compromise 4. The Unbridled I Flux of Europeans in the 1870' was in direct response to the " WHITENING OF THE AMERICAS." 4. THE VOTING for Black people did not become law until 1965 Voting Rights Act, not 1870. Although Black p people were elected to DC offices in record numbers, that was REVERSED with JIM CROW. 5. What you were taught was only partially true and full of holes. 6. The original Statue of Liberty was a Black woman with 2 children, their shackles broken. The US rejected this because I se of racial I overtone and it was taken to Egypt It was replaced with the Grecian monstrosity, which Europeans claim symbolizes freedom. A history lesson from an American historical perspective.

@mcfact1827 Many of the Loyalists came to Eastern Canada after the war and established many new towns that were thriving. Then, when Irish and French settlers were starving and freezing to death, they plundered the Loyalists' homes and businesses. The freedman also came up west, driving up thousands of cattle from Texas to establish our cattle industry. They also settled here building many thriving towns. Freed Black Americans are established in our history and are the blueprint for our major industries.

@@mcfact1827 did you know average salaries in USA have not increased in last few decades and manufacturing which employs the middle class has moved to countries like China, Vietnam, Mexico etc? Jobless economic growth means the rich are getting richer but the middle class is becoming poor. This is why large number of whites were rioting on the streets with the blacks during black lives matter movement. Economic collapse coupled with change in demography in a highly weaponized and militarized population is a recipe for civil war. Illegal immigration from failed nations to a country infamous for slavery, racism and persecution of people of different races and ethnicities is another ingredient to the cauldron of civil war. Heavily militarized society has led to the militarization of police which has led to disproportionate use of force against the minorities with tragic consequences. This resulted in a black veteran using his arms against the police. I guess that incident was the inspiration for one of the scenes in this movie. This is not only a movie but a warning particularly if Trump an openly white supremacist again returns back to power.

That's the problem with AI generating this stuff you get a British accent and a total sidestep of civics and how those leading the abolitionists movement were Christians and they went hard calling out southerners who would proclaim to be Christians while holding humans in bandage. Not only that but those who profited from goods that which was produced by slave labor. Lincoln being elected is what caused the Civil War, he wasn't even sworn in before more than half the states that would Succeeded. Only a Constitutional Amendment passed by 75% of the states could have ended slavery. So what Lincoln didn't have was the legal authority to do anything about it. The Emancipation Proclamation was in it's time seen as legally questionable that's the reason it was only trying to free slaves in areas of rebellion. That's also why the 13th & 14th Amendments were NEEDED to free all of the remaining slaves and to give them full citizenship rights. That's why the first black people in congress were black southern Republicans until racist democrats and their KKK terrorists literally killed black voter turnout and passed racist "black laws" that totality undermined the Constitution Amendments passed during reconstruction.
