Welp, glad I already knew this. It just makes sense. Why would I pull in a random box for stuff I have no use for when I can pull on a very specific box that has the cards I'm looking for with a MUCH higher chance at getting them? It's a no brainer and something I picked up on immediately.

Here's my takeaway: Do NOT pull from any packs that aren't Secret Packs. If a card you need can be found in an SP, craft an SR from that SP and pull from there directly. Why is this viable? Because SRs aren't SRs at all--and that is by NO means a complaint--, they're plentiful--and SHOULD stay as such.

Tip: you can unlock a secret pack by crafting 1 SR or UR from it. A good rule is to always keep 30 SR points in case you miss the 24hr time window

I really hope the upcoming xyz event gives us more gems and crafting materials cause these daily mission rewards are pretty bad

It's pretty easy to tell the Master Packs are useless, regardless of that spending any money on this game is a mistake just one look at the money to gem ratio was enough to make me put my wallet away, people who throw money at the game anyway are just telling Konami the jacked up prices are okay (Content creators I understand though).

One thing not mentioned: dismantling different foil finish cards yields different points. The rarer the foil finish, the more points you can get. Unless you actively decide that you want to bling your deck, always dismantle the shinier cards first because you get more CP for that card.

I'm happy that I did some research before jumping into this game. I knew which good main deck I wanted. The guarantee UR in the secret packs bundles was a life saver.

Imagine wasting 5k on this game just to lose the same way a f2P players does . Because you didnt have 3 diferent kinds of hand traps on hand when your oponent using a meta combo deck went first.

Save up a good amount of Gems before digging a Secret Pack because to immediately have access to it, you will need 1 Craft of any SR or UR from that pack. How many? Your call. If you do just 1K a day, you'll be crafting too much from that, using up resources.

I started a new account a few days ago on my xbox determined to avoid the mistakes on my first account (I'm F2P). All of the bundles are worth it for the UR alone and the fact the 10 master packs are discounted is a nice bonus(I picked up an additional ash in one of mine!). The next task was to pick a deck and pull the cards you need from secret packs then fish for staples. I got all the tri-brigade cards and then realized I needed darklord cards for my Nurse burn anyway and low and behold I pulled 2 forbidden droplets. After spending WAY to much on trying to get rescue cat (only got one after 5K gems), my next mission is to try to pull a nightmare unicorn. Pretty proud of how I managed my gems so far.

its the same when you add cards on bookmark, it will show that you only have 2 of a card even tho you got 3 because the last one was foil

I wouldn’t blame the dev. I would blame myself if I did NOT do my own due diligence on impulse buyout on all the normal packs lol. As for the bug where it did not put the UR in your deck, should’ve looked & verify for your own sake lol even though it’s a bug. The recommended way to gem iMO is you don’t need to pull from the normal packs. Buy the bundle packs All 3 & whatever you pull there craft 1 SR to get your secret pack. To unlock your specific secret pack look for the UR you need and click on “how to obtain” & cross reference if the SR in the “related cards” is also in the same pack as your UR. If they’re in the same pack you then craft the SR you need in the related cards to unlock the secret pack. ONLY pull for the UR you need in that secret pack but you don’t need 3 copies yet even if your deck needs it. Move onto the next pack for your next UR & repeat. Once you get a deck going accumulate your “bonus pack” through playing the game and you can utilize that to unlock your secret pack as well if you don’t want to craft an SR that you don’t need & the bonus pack will be if you’re lucky on pull.

Yeah this game is surprisingly f2p friendly. You want to play multiple decks then just make more steam accounts. You get access to over 9k gems easy per account at start once you do the summoning training on solo mode. If you do a little more of the solo mode, you get 50 UR craft points and gems. You can easily build an optimal deck within 2 hours.

Here's my experience, if you f2p, you should save a gems a build a proper deck with it, but keep in mind, theres no gurantee you can play that deck forever. Konami always update their ban list card. Who know later on konami put eldlich in limited 1.

Yup you made a mistake and that’s unfortunate, I haven’t spent a single penny and I got a tier 1 tri-zoo deck with 3 maxx c and ash + 2 called by grave and 2 nib. This game is super F2P friendly. And I still have gems left :)

the most soul crushing thing about the hero deck is that not only is it filled to the ass with URs but its filled with URs across 3 diff secret packs, "First Heros" for your elemental heros, "Shrouded Heros" for your destiny Heros, and "Transfigured Heros" for your evil heros, granted can just craft the adusted gold and the malicious bane but thats still 30 UR and SR points gone for one part of your engine. All that then you can complete the deck assuming you crafted the 6 total UR handtraps you will also need

If you're not completely commited to one deck, you can try making randomness work in your favor. Do this by picking your secret pack around a core UR that you randomly obtained from the bundles or free packs. I chose sky striker since my first UR ever from a pack was Kagari. This meant that i am likely to craft less URs from making the same deck (though i still had to craft zeke and engage after four 10x pulls). On average, a 10x pull gives 2.2 (or close to that numer) URs. Maybe half of that is related to the archetype you actually pulled from. Take this into consideration before reserving the gems needed.

I don't see the point of spending money in Master Duel. You can build your first deck excessively easily and if you're bored and want to play something else, just create another account and craft every card very easily

What I do..pick one special pack (for me darkest magics) I love dark magician and dark magician girl....then spend all your gems on that one pack rack up all of your duplicates from that one pack then turn your duplicates into crafting material.. never BUY SINGLE packs!! Always ALWAYS buy 10 packs .. ESPECIALLY if your using IRL money from your checking.

I mean... You spent over 5k on this game, but to be fair, this is literally your job. It's not like you're actually whailing here. You're one of the few exceptions that actually HAS a valid reason to spend for this game, so never feel ashamed of it. You're doing it for all of us! :) The fact you enjoy it (maybe,I don't know. I don't like to assume things) is just a perk. Also, it hurts to hear you only learned to go for secret packs recently. I mourn for your wallet. D: Kindof wish I shared it with you on day one. Was under the impression the ig names would figure this out early on too. Went in fully expecting this game to be super generous on gems early on only to dry up to a trickle sooner or later, like they did with Duel Links. So I was careful about everything I used gems for early on. This foresight payed off big time. Realized what you mentioned instantly when I saw the loot table of the reg. packs. The two named packs are all over the place and the Master pack's loot table is WAY too diluted. Bought the three bundles and never touched those packs again, because I learned through those packs about the "secret pack" system. Abused the crafting system to get needed cards/unlock secret packs I needed and ended up with 2 complete decks without paying a dime. Anyway. Again, it sucks you went through this. Glad you're putting up a video about it to raise other player's awareness. Keep up the awesome work! :)

yeah well, another lesson: if you have multiple archetypes you really like, choose one, build a strong deck from that first, and only think about getting another one, once the first is strong enough to carry you through platinum

I just want to let you guys know that I got a Called by the Grave when I was pulling on Valiant Galdiator Beast secret pack. But that happened long way after I craft 2 copies of Called by the Grave. Sometimes blessing feels like a curse, you know.

I made the mistake of impulsively dismantling cards I might need later. Crafting them again is the worst feeling lol

7 days in and I have 5 fully optimized decks complete with staples without spending anything

Another huge mistake. Don’t craft into a limit whether that’s a 3 of Limit or a ban list limit The only exception I made was called by. Allow your account to grow gracefully. 2 of anything that’s a staple is usually enough. You have to remember that every time you get more copies of something than you can use you’re effectively losing 20 ur crafting Points. You’re eventually going to get all the cards you need in max copies by just randomly pulling them. Maybe there will be more bundles. Be patient. Believe it or not every top 10 staple in the game has a wal mart brand alternative to it that may not be as good but comparable. Some of SRs some are rares. Use those as your 3rd copy of URs you don’t have yet. Use flood gate srs Use chalice fir Imp or droplets. Use de crow for called by grave removal. Use skull Meister Use Artifact for ghost URs. Use that quick play spell that allows you to draw cards from cards added to your opponents hand. It’s like a maxxx c that can also check maxx c. So it’s maxx c and blossom hybrid. Use more pots to replace a 3rd maxx c

As a DL player.. I don't use my gems on premier of MD.. I play MD using the Monarch deck from the story mode.. Before I use my gems on packs .. I study the system of this game first.. like craft system and secret packs.. get the UR Ash, Solemn J. and L. Storm from the Shop.. then I craft 2 Ash and 3 MaxxC this card is very useful on all type of deck.. then research the deck that I want to build.. my deck is complete.. I am willing to spent money for the support of this game but not that much.. MD with the Official Yu-Gi-Oh rules and latest card is more challenging and fun.

i think you can justify 1 pull from stalwart force because it triggers a lot of secret packs. And the cards you get there are mostly meta relevant right now or a generic staple like kristron needlefiber

Dyked honestly your mistakes were only made because your an awesome Yu-Gi-Oh! KZfaqr and we get it, as probably the biggest KZfaqr for yugioh, you have to put out lots of content fast! and someone as busy as yourself can’t be experimenting , or spending time seeing these mistakes being pointed out weeks ago from other KZfaqrs, and I’m sure you don’t have all the time in the world to collect gems from solo missions or making a new account. But I’m glad you are shedding the light on this topic and made these mistakes so the rest of us don’t, and I hope you make more content on how CRUCIAL it is to MAKE MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS and how it can save other people $1000’s because I’d be extremely pissed spending that much money.

ultimately none of this really matters if you are just making new accounts to make the most of early gem rewards.. i have 3 accounts where i have 2 decks each on them and spending all my UR/SR tokens early doesn't matter if you're only using that specific account to make a specific deck or two. this is only going to be more relevant as new packs are released as older decks may be less viable and the pool of staples increases which really hurts players that are putting a lot of money into the game so early on in its life cycle

Really good video, this are golden informations for new players! For me the best way to have a good start on Master Duel, with no money involved, and climb the rank ladder was really simple, you have to KNOW AND BUILD just one really good deck…making the starting solo mode, open the secret packs of that deck you want to play, recycle all the SR and UR you don’t want, and finally craft the staples and some cards you re missing in that only deck you want! Now if you want multiples god-like decks , thats more complicated and eventually you going to spend some money on the game!

2:10 dude honestly they really have to change this, its the worst, i dont think i crafted a card that i dont need yet, (to my knowledge at least) but i can definitely see how this is a massive issue

I think the optimal strategy is: 1 play the game daily and do daily mission for pile up to 5 K gems > 2 craft 1 high-rarity card from the set u need > 3 unlock the "secret pack" > 4 spend gems until u have the cards from the set > 5 dismantle what u don't need > 6 (if u have more gems) repeat from step 2; (if u don't have more gems) repeat from step 1

The main mistake that I did is crafting staple from duel links.

I actually did craft secret pack stuff , but it was just to finish the initial Dragonmaid core. I pulled one copy of them first, since I thought you needed to own a card before crafting more , but it worked out. I believe I use practically all my gems before crafting, so it was kind of a "craft and have the core" or "don't craft and have to unlock the secret pack again later" situation.

As a free to play player I figured this out in the first 2 minutes of playing. I will say if I don't play religiously it can take a while to build multiple decks like this. But it's definitely doable.

For what it’s worth I’ve made a full Zombie World deck, a full Dinosaur/True Draco deck, and a full on Eldlich deck with spending $0.00 There are ways folks Granted I still only have 2 ash and 2 maxxc

I created f2p pure phantom night its good and sustainable in xyz

Other developers: You spend 60$ and you get access to the whole game Konami: You spend 5000$ & you don't even get every card lmoa

⭕️TIP NUMBER 1: Make multiple accounts to try out different decks. Each new account gets you about 8k gems within 30 min from playing basic easy solo/tutorial missions. ⭕️TIP NUMBER 2: save $100 of dollars from tip number 1 and don’t give komoney(konami) a penny.

Well I knew to focus on secret packs, but I didn't consider to hold off on the crafting. SMH. Glad I found this before I continued that mistake.

I’m new to Master Duel, played a bit of Duel link. I am lost as to what is meta. All these new summons/types of decks has my lil pea brain blown

If you don't want to get scammed and your are just starting your gonna wanna get the bundles get the duel pass and then craft a single card that is sr in a secret pack (which you can check) and when you do you will get the secret pack and 1 free draw

the game is very generous starting out. was able to make an eldrich control deck and climb to low gold in hours.. then had enough stuff to make a zoodiac deck. alt account are great herefor f2p because of the card acquisition. though i do feel having one account with most of your equity is best, its just not possible f2p. thanks for your content and stories

great advice. I caught on to that while building a hero deck. Got lucking pulling the staples from the hero packs.

Except if you run too low on Srs you would need to open packs to get the Srs to craft into a secret pack, and at that point that basically opening 2 plus packs.

Unlocking the Secret pack you need is the tricky part

Crafting cards like dropplet or nibiru is fine cause the selection box only contain bad archetypes or cards you don't need/want. Imperm and veiler are nice and aren't in a pack but I find that dropplet is just better than those and more splash-able so instead of wasting gems in a pack full of cards I'm not going to use, it's better to craft. I guess an exception to the rule are whales as they have far more gems than F2P so pulling from a secret pack even if it's a bad one is way better than trying to get it from a master pack

I've spent around $150 Canadian so far and I have like 10 decks built just waiting until I have the resources to craft vyon, I've also randomly gotten called by the grave and imperial order from packs

Love you for doing this video, extremely helpful for everyone. BUT I do not advice to craft Secret Packs in order to get for just 1 UR and 0 SR, remember your chances of pulling that one UR are VERY LOW. Going for secret packs that include multiple SR and a few UR will increase your chances of getting more value for your gems (yes SR can be important too). Remember every 10 boosters you will get 0-3 UR (0 and 3 being quite rare but you could get 4+ in theory) and there is no guarantee those UR will be from the secret pack special collection, and even IF you get an UR from the secret pack collection secret packs can have at least 4 UR.

The game actually misleads you if using “how to obtain” function because you can get staple cards like “maxx c” from secret packs, just click “cards available in this pack” and search that card in the secret pack.

omg how tf this dude just realize this. all i need to make a whole complete version of deck is just 5 hrs, 1.5hrs to download and the rest to grinf. i have like 10 steam acc with 10 different deck now

I personally got dark ruler no more from the herald pack even though it's written that it's only in the master pack. You really cannot trust the accuracy. Ash, Maxx C, etc. might actually also be in other packs where the chance of pulling them is pretty high...

I spent worth of 1 in half week for just playing the game both rank and solo mode for free didn't spend 1 dime. And I manage to build a Chaos Max deck and a optimal Dark Magician Deck.

The only reason to open Master Packs is you got lucky af pulling the core for the decks you want to play and have left over gems to try your luck further.

Solemn cards are similar to droplet. If you have a deck which uses some of those, make sure to buy the secret pack.

You can craft a SR from the deck you want. So say you want tri brigade deck. You can craft a SR tri-brigade and unlock that tri-brigade pack

i spend around 100€ on my first account and got 0 SR and 25 UR. i pretty much messed up because i crafted decks i liked at first but lost interest in 2 weeks later. so i dismantled and crafted new but my resources sinked down. what can i do now? it takes forever to get gems even with the xyz festival which i drained empty by now. it's sad that this game gives you no choice to build more decks you like

I haven't spend any money on this game yet there are things I would have liked to have done differently. Craft any Master Packs, not use gems up on those packs. And go directly for the cards I need which I ended up doing. Ended up with 50 UR that are not from starter decks. It's really hard to get more UR points. Basically have to pull everything at this point.

Sometimes you need to craft cards to unlock the secret packs.

Handy optional tip: if you're f2p dust your prismatic, glossy's etc. You'll get slightly more crafting tokens. I think its 15 for a glossy??

They need to rotate the secret packs like most FTP rotate heroes. I’m tired of only being able to buy packs after crafting a Super Rare. I’m going to hold the rest of my CP until this is changed

Whaaat! How did he spend 5K!? Secret pack is great tip though ty for that. Personally I do not run call of the grave myself I did not see the benifit vs having the main cards myself. You can’t use it on your opponent first turn anyways. Question I have is how do we know when newest pack /cards will arrive?

Can the Master Duel Meta website also put the cards which are master pack exclusive? Coz we don’t know all the cards that are exclusive to master packs alone

dont know if they fix it or not but now when you put copies of a card it will replace the the missing card with another rarity that you have but tbh everytime i login i have to redo it... -1 and +1 again

I stopped buying gems because I pull less URs from gems that I bought. Opened 20 packs from gems I bought. Got 1 UR. Next day I opened 1 pack from the daily log in. Got 2 URs.
