I picked up UE5 beta like 2 weeks ago and this is the first thing that I saw. You have no character model? Grab the default mannequin and slap some color filters on it. Ez

With my experience in UE4, I can tell you their trailer is nothing but the demo levels of a handful of marketplace assets packs, some of them awkwardly smashed together, and most of them not designed for multiplayer usage. I wouldn't be surprised if these guys had to watch youtube tutorials on basic blueprint functions, just to get their shitty alpha working.

I'm currently learning how to use Unreal Engine myself and when I recognized the default UE4 avatar being used with zero changes to it I was like "no fucking way this guy is serious"

@@ninny65 I mean UE4 automatically does replication even.. I doubt they went beyond just checking the replication box on the actors. Epic makes everything so easy yet still no one takes full advantage of it. It is hard for me to be for any side, you had to be pretty ignorant to buy into this, and you must be extremely ignorant to try to sell something like this, there are so many simple things they could have done that would have made it so much better and legitimize it. And to start with your first game being a "open world" or "MMORPG" just kind of puts the nail on the head, this is literally the biggest and most common mistake every new dev makes. I have spent way to much time in UE4, I know how hard it is to stay motivated and stuff so I have a soft spot for these people. I hope they get out of this "Dunning-Kruger" kind of effect they are in where they think they know anything about the engine when in reality they don't know even 1% of it. Unfortunately It is too easy to learn a bit of UE4 and get really excited and start making your crazy little game then getting sucked into the marketing of it.. Marketing alone, making the kickstarter, it is all kind of difficult, now they listen to their fans and shit and really can't produce anymore, they needed to stay in hibernation learning mode for another years or two before they could ever think they would produce anything. There is just so many layers of learning to UE4. You need to learn the Hierarchy, how object orientation works, how all the optimization systems work.. Culling.. There is just thousands of things they haven't learned yet which is why the game just runs like trash, and looks like bullshit, it is a bunch of assets mashed together that don't even remotely work together , they are using one of the more popular stylized environment assets, they are using default UE4 mannequin and animations, mixamo free animation, really pathetic to the trained eye. I kind of admire their courage though to be honest, I have projects that are 10 times better than this yet id feel so much shame trying to sell it on kickstarter. You can't knock their aspiration or confidence, they are obviously really ignorant but they really are dreamers.

So basically the guy behind it is a genius scammer...

on kicker starter their are alot of lets call them investors people playing with real high profile money, their literal job is investing into everything that even remotely could workout. they do it in a way that even when 9 out of 10 investements fail the 10th one recupes the losses of the 9 and makes money on top.

@@SquaulDuNeant I don't have a problem with "outdated-looking 3D" styles. The problem with this game is, its 3D assets have 0 thematic consistency. It outright looks like someone took a bunch of 3D model assets and threw them all in the game without sorting it out. Even the likes of Garry's Mod at least tries to make the default world look coherent enough before you turn it into your playground.

It may or may not be pirated assets, people are checking that front as we speak.

i am game developer with 3 years of experience, it takes a lot more time, yeah the game looks like crap, is not original etc, but still there is a lot of work even whe is using a lot of assets, lot of works of course doesnt mean the game is gonna be good or is gonna look great
