Here is the nice little Troy Bilt 420cc Cadillac of all snow blowers I just picked up this season! It's a dually with heated grips and steering brakes... It is a MONSTER! Hope you enjoy watching

I've had one of these over 10 years and still runs great. A lot of people bad mouth them but never had a problem with mine and used it many times to even clear a 1/4 acre gravel drive. I have a set of gauge wheels that pop on and off in seconds for that.
@medamit Жыл бұрын
Would you have a picture of the wheels you made?
@goaheadmakeourdayscooterpe9644 Жыл бұрын
@@medamit No pic handy but I can explain. Took one skid bolt out each side and drilled 1/2". Used a 3"x1/2" all threaded bolt passed thru hole and 2 nuts added. So skids still work on hard surfaces when wheels removed. Added a washer and a Harbor Freight hard wheel on bolt sticking out. Drilled 1/8 hole in end of bolt to hold wheel and washer with spring pin.I think I used a 6" wheel to raise off gravel 1". Just use different size wheels for up and down clearance.

On the side wall of the tires is an arrow to show the rotation going forward. I would say move the left side tires to the right side then your traction would improve. As it sits now they are backwards.

MTD sold this same unit as an attachment for their older garden tractors. I have one on an old MTD 800 series garden tractor (20HP) and the thing is a beast. I feel like I wouldn't want to try to handle a walk-behind that large with a smaller engine.
@EverybodyLovesMoe6 ай бұрын
Heh Jables, so you actually got the BIG one. I almost did back in 2008 because I have a long laneway. I opted for the 33" instead and even at that I find the machine too big for me to handle. I found I had to muscle it around and being a small guy wasn't and still isn't a whole lot of fun. I had to pick up the front end to reverse most of the time. I think these larger machines need tracks.

I bought an Ariens 1336 last year for commercial blowing. It was awful, I re-sold it in about a month... Extra- wide blowers suck (probably any brand) unless you set the skid shoes to clear about 1/2 inch or unless you have an ABSOLUTELY PERFECTLY flat driveway. I bought a slightly used Ariens deluxe 30 for about $675 USD from a local dealer. Awesome machine. About 15% faster than my Ariens 926LE (simple math). But probably better than that because sometimes I don't need to make a couple extra passes on customers driveways. Good luck with your machine and you will probably enjoy your next smaller machine a whole lot more.

you gotta raise the scraper bar up just a bit if you want to go over grass without tearing it up.. loosen the sliders on the side and stick combo wrenches under the bar on each side on a flat surface then tighten the slides.. should give you around 3/8 of an inch of snow to race on..

It's obvious at 2:22 that it bogs down. It has a huge cut at 45", but the design and motor isn't capable of handling that kind of snow intake. My Honda HS928 could run circles around the Troy-Bilt.

for such a big snow blower its a shame it can not plow thru about 3 feet of wet snow. My toro r 3650 would run circle on that :D
@JacksonAxe6 жыл бұрын
It's digging into the ground because the cut-height adjusters aren't set correctly on the bottom of the cut for an unfrozen soft surface. If he'd stuck to the paved driveway it would've worked properly...though, there's clearly no snow there, so off to the lawn... If the ground (lawn) had been frozen it may not have been as bad. I'd be surprised if there wasn't a much slower start-off speed, too....which would stop the 'jumping' when he engages it.

Your tires look like they are mounted in the wrong direction, who ever assembled it put the tires on the opposite side of where they should be. Those are directional tread tires.

@MrLmm0016 жыл бұрын
You are going TO FAST for HEAVY WET SNOW, you have to go slower or use only half the width or less of the machine. ALL snow blowers like this and others are only made to go thru about 4-6" of snow at a time in 1 pass. Any more and you have to go slower WITHOUT bogging down the machine. That's also why the front end is lifting up.
@sldl047 жыл бұрын
Why does it have a friction disc drive for that price? With that kind of weight and cut size it should have a hydrostatic transmission. There are a ton of complaints in reviews for this machine that claimed that it wouldn't move forward under heavy snow conditions. Add the Chinese engine and it's basically junk. Troy bilt cut too many corners.
@JablesOutdoors7 жыл бұрын
sldl04 Now that I can agree with! It is uncomfortably heavy for sure and would be awesome with hydrostatic drive

I would not want to operate a walk behind that big. Once snow gets compacted or drifted hard the blower wants to go every which way but loose. I have a late 80s JD 524 with a Tecumseh 7hp Snow King that was new around 2007. I normally use my Toro 522xi and 520xi tractors. One with a blade, the other with a snow blower.
@Kinghauler20127 жыл бұрын
Boyd W your right. I have one of these, love the power and distance but it's not a walk in the park to handle it as it can buck left n right and a handful to control sometimes. Definitely a technique to operate a big beast like this and after a couple tanks worth of gas, I'm getting it now. :)

@vt93027 жыл бұрын
No apology needed-- it's easy to see the excitement/amusement you had. Funny how everyone has turned this into a pissing contest. On a serious note, if the clunking didn't come from ice/packed snow hitting the chute (plastic I think?) on exit, def take a look at your gear case as heavy load could be wearing down the worm wheel without proper lubrication. Shear bolts should be failing first though.

There's a reason why Troy-Bilt is several hundred less than Toro, Honda and Ariens. Looks very awkward and overkill for that property, unless you are a contractor doing big, flat areas.
