Learning new skills requires being awkward before it becomes intuitive, I’m giving myself permission to be awkward and aspiring to learn fast from all the shared wisdom. Thank you for your encouraging content.

Maybe make a chart and post it at your stand. Top 5 reasons spring flowers cost more. 1. Bulbs are labor intensive 2. Most are one and done. 3. They are more costly 4. They have to be babied and watched closely all winter. 5 (10). Many require more materials being placed in tunnels etc . 6. Most are considered specialty flowers etc...then end with Enjoy our babies !!

Or print pictures of the labour. The ones you surely have for social media already. Not to explain the price but show/share the journey. As a customer your labour or costs are none of my business but I do care about your care and engagement for beauty and quality. Perceived value. Same thing but different in communication.

Reducing your varieties is definitely the way forward . I have been doing that over the last season and the season coming. In my first 2 years, I grew everything. I grow veg too so impossible to grow everything.

I’m here for the bootstrapping! I feel as though everyone thinks they NEED a tractor, high tunnel, cool bot shed, 10k tulips etc from year one. You can still get started without all that and then build as needed, just my opinion. Even though it felt like a tractor was a NEED as I was filling my 3rd 4x26 foot bed with a shovel and wheelbarrow 😅

I'll be interested to see what happens when you put out your spring bouquets at $30 when your customers are now used to paying $20. As a gift retailer for 30 years, our customers would be shocked with a 50% price increase in one jump. Most people get comfortable with a certain price and begin to impulse buy after a short while, and a sudden significant price increase can bring them to an abrupt stop. Especially when it's something they're treating themselves to and not a necessity. You might consider a blowout first day launch at $25 to slowly massage them up in price. 50% more is pretty drastic. Then again, if your first day is Easter weekend you may be good to go. Good luck....I look forward to seeing how it goes for you!

Gravel Rock!! Enjoy all the videos. Thanks However, I feel different from the above comment. I sold a handmade item for over 20 years. When I increased the price, customers treated it as higher quality for the same product. It became special to own one. Started being used in events as their advertising, etc. I called it the “snob effect” I am starting a flower farm this year, however will not sale until the 2nd year farming. My plan is to start with $30 bouquets. Feel one must to make anything. The cost of growing, planning, marketing and then taxes!

It’s about supply and demand and they are growing. I think it’s better to try and then correct it if necessary. I was too hesitant to put up my prices significantly in my own business despite demand and ended up with too much volume and not enough margin for a while. Do it! Your flowers are worth it.
