Cellframe, unlike other quantum resistance project, Cellframe implements 3x different quantum security signatures at the same time. After reading many articles and watching the space for years, I have so far only found 2 fully quantum resistant cryptocurrencies. Both are quantum resistant from genesis. One is the Quantum Resistant Ledger (QRL), the other is Mochimo (MCM), both using different versions of Winternitz one-time-signatures. Unfortunately at the moment any other cryptos, including the ones mentioned in the video, either are only partially resistant or just have it on the roadmap, and could already be behind the curve. Upgrading an existing chain brings a few major problems with it. There's 2 good articles by Deloitte that break down the issues with upgrading an existing chain to a quantum resistant signature scheme, illustrated with the examples of Bitcoin and Ethereum. I would love to see more of those fully quantum resistant cryptos, but so far, only Mochimo and the Quantum Resistant Ledger are out there.

I'm not a cryptographer, but my basic understanding is that hash functions are still secure even if you reduce the size (collision space) by half (2k/2 instead of 2k) it's still a very large number (or collision space). Public / Private keys (typically ecliptic curves) are less secure (Shor's algorithm) but do require large quantum computers. Of course, it will be possible to use quantum technology to generate even stronger cryptography algorithms which could be quantium proof. Note on most chains' cryptography is used for proof of ownership (digital signatures) rather than encryption of the data.

So hashing is fine (for the most part). Signatures are under the biggest threat. In Bitcoin (and I assume most other crypto) an address is (usually) a hash of a public key that you would want to sign with. So a quantum attack is not feasible until you sign a transaction and broadcast it (at which point the public key is revealed, which shouldn't matter but introduces the quantum vulnerability). This was a deliberate design decision, partially to counteract the rise of quantum computers. The threat then becomes, a quantum computer intercepts your transaction (and public key), then it has to crack your private key (again, quantum vulnerable) and make a rogue transaction before yours is accepted. So it becomes a one-time race. This is all assuming you've never used your address in a transaction before (revealing the public key); a reason not to re-use addresses, again a design suggestion early on partially to mitigate quantum threat. Pretty sure early Satoshi forum / mailing list posts cover this. So in an ideal situation, quantum computers sneak up on us, we see the threat incoming, we sign our coin's transactions with the weak algorithms before quantum gets to the point it can (quickly) break it, and we send it over to a quantum resistant address type that would be introduced in a fork. Many modern blockchains have handled this by using, or offering, quantum resistant signatures, hashes, addressing schemes, etc. But even the dinosaur in crypto land came prepared, at least to a degree. EDIT: A common question: why don't we use quantum-resistant algorithms now? Well, they're expensive to compute and large to store on chain. Anyone familiar with the "block-size wars" knows that Bitcoin keeps its block-size at a minimum out of principle. Further, nodes would need to be much more powerful to be able to validate blocks; the intention today is that anyone can run a node (arguable). A change to quantum would threaten that.

Think of it like the difference between typical encryption schemes we use today and the encryption that germans used during WW2. It was extremely difficult to crack those back then without the use of electronic computers but they are trivial to solve today. They did make enigma obsolete but it has been replaced with more secure algorithms which use the very same computing power

Nope. The reason why is that it is much easier for a single entity, like a bank, to upgrade to any of the quantum safe TLS solutions available for the main OSes than it is for a majority of cryptocurrency nodes to agree to fork the project to a quantum safe signature. A CISO at a bank can make their handful of SysAdmins work a weekend to push the updates, a DAO cannot force thousands of miners/stakers to do anything.

Quantum computing, it's important to understand, is not effective at accelerating all computational workloads. In fact it's a relativity small portion at this time... but RSA cracking is one of those.

QAN platform is going to take the lead in this when they launch their main net and get up to speed. Also developers can write whatever coding language they are comfortable with on QAN’s chain. They aren’t held to one or two languages like most other chains. They are also QVM compatible. Keep an eye out for them in the next month or so!

ive been somewhat expecting "quantum resistance" to be one of the major trending buzzwords during the next bull run which is why ive periodically directed large slices of my hashrates around the block to these different protocols in speculation. i can rest easy knowing ill have a small fortune to lose when I realize i never backed up the wallet of that one obscure sh**coin that has definitely probably been reformatted and ground into oblivion on a chia plotting drive 🤣

SO basically Quantum Computing is about adding a new answering zone to the binary computing, It's not "True=1" + "False=0", It's like (simplified) "True=1" + "False=0" for 80% confirmed and 20% not, so this last 20% is also "True=1" + "False=0"for 80% confirmed and 20% not, and so on until the most logical answer - It keeps within the "80%T +20%F" but in a certain stable pattern -

I don't regard quantum computers as a credible threat to cryptography. Even in that subset of cryptography where a quantum algorithm is believed to exist, exponential difficulty should apply to just getting the quantum computer to work right. On this matter I expect RSA to be more secure than eliptic curves by virtue of the longer keys already in regular use.

If some government were able to crack bitcoin keys they'd also be able to crack most encrypted data which is going to be more important to them. They wouldn't tell anyone. The right time for bitcoin to transition to using quantum safe algorithms is now.

QC are good for very special problems. Crypto in general is not one of them except RSA (based on large primes and can be broken by factoring). However, it is easier than one think to make Crypto Quantum Computing resistant. new protocols must be changed in a way so that they are NOT vulnerable by fast computers (computations per second) . That means we "ONLY" must increase the complexity of the crypto algo.

big fan of the channel, but there are many wrong assertions here. Quantum computers are not de facto "faster" than normal ones. As always, it depends on the problem you are trying to solve. They work pretty well in solving NP problems but they suck compared to "normal" computers on many other tasks

wrong!! Quantum computers cant crack some codes.. all you have to do is put in provisions. and just like that quantum computers are useless again.. there are plenty of ways to foil quantum computers.. like rolling codes and 3 try refusal.. if someone tries to crack a code, then it is programmed to change code to a different regime.. I can think of many other ways we can keep crypto safe ... it revolves around not allowing computers to the actual public key. the public key becomes and address pointer and you only allowed to guess the password 5 times... also there's tones of other things you can do like, putting in seed passwords or sending messages to owner for access, not to mention millions of automations that can allow your account to hide and or split...

Scam alert: Chinese researchers able to crack RSA already today, crypto projects already ‚quantum resistant‘, fusion progress etc. etc. I suggest to check the correlation of this ‘progress‘ with budget cycles and geopolitical and marketing requirements. Sometimes progress surprises us, while other ‘progress’ is quite easy to understand when viewed in context.

MIC and DARPA black budgets that cannot be accounted for nor pass any audits are in the trillions. Stealth tech was functional for more than a decade before the public knew. Are you really THAT confident in your assesment given these facts?

@@EnFuego79 I do think "Stealth tech" is much harder to hide these days with how the world is more connected than ever with internet but would love to be wrong on Quantum computers. Also costs around £2 million just for a 50 qubit computer if i remember correctly from a podcast of a guy who works for quantum computer research company in uk. If i can find ill share

Trillions isnt even enough as current prices. Lets say £2million for 100 qubit computer. X1000 to make equivalent £2m to £2 trillion thats estimate of 100,000 qubits still x10 less than 1million qubit apparently needed. All assuming theres no cost efficiency improvement and AI doesnt help research

The only project that is addressing quantum threat seriously is QANplatform. Algorand, Cardano and Avalanche and all other Layer 1 blockchain ARE NOT quantum resistant and they cannot become it without making hard choices, a lot of time and sacrificing things.

You are right that the mentioned blockchains are not quantum resistant. But Quan is not legit in my eyes. They rugpulled people once, and got "hacked" another time, resulting on huge losses for people involved with them. Feel free to bet on them to actually deliver, I don't think anything good will come out of it. So far unfortunately the only fully quantum resistant cryptos at the moment are Mochimo and the Quantum Resistant Ledger, all others are - again unfortunately - more smoke and mirrors than the actual thing.

Quan rugpulled after their first system was set up and then it was "hacked" with a bridge exploit. I would keep as far away as possible from the people running it.
