That’s a fair point for some movies but I don’t completely agree with your point. There are plenty of films out there with deliberately slower pacing that go along with the atmosphere, character studies or themes they are trying to achieve. Two examples I can think of is “The Green Mile” and “The Irishman,” both are higher profile slower paced movies that have elevated performances, but the pacing highlights their respected themes. “The Bikeriders” isn’t anywhere close to those movies, but something about it connected with me even if it wasn’t completely perfect in its execution.

Great point in response and great examples listed. Your comment made me realize that I’m not or shouldn’t be bother about slow pacing by comparing it to reality. Film is make believe and escape, right? So it comes down to a director’s style and choice of pace and over time we’ve generally accepted “slow pace” = good, well excited, well thought out and overall good performances. I guess I want to stand up for the Aaron Sorkins and Woody Allens and of the world who can give us fast paced dialogue that has depth and is intriguing. And Bikeriders could have had that style (maybe not neurotically fast like Allen, but just faster in general ) and would have been a different or better…ride of a movie. I understand your frustration…this was advertised as a 60’s Sons of Anarchy type movie, only for it to be a slow paced recreation of an exposé on 60’s bikers. I’d be mad too if I saw more of the marketing before watching the film.
