They were most realistic portrayals, along with Don Beech and Boyden, I knew coppers like these 4 in naughty 90's. Dashwood is another that has real feel.

😃👍👍...Thanks so much Jana for uploading this! This is a very important episode as is Jack Meadows' first major appearance (after a number of minor appearances and as Supt. NOT DCI) on The Bill before becoming a regular a year later in 1992 as a DCI. It's a great storyline in this episode. I've been wanting to see this for over 10 yrs and finally did so yesterday...many thanks! 😃🌟🌟🍾

@@paulsimpson6899yes he had appeared before this, it the episode with the new station and the investigation into the the murder of two children. He was demoted to DCI in the Fall out of this episode and then replaced Reid. I think demotion is mentioned in passing after this before he re appears.

@@colin5944 Colin, yes you are correct 👍. I recently read that Meadows had upto 13 appearances before this one (perhaps inclusive) and in series 7, he appears well before this. I think the very first brief appearance is the episode where Mike Dashwood is held hostage (which if I remember right, is the one you're talking about.) He was miles better than Reid.

@@truth901 His first episode was in S6 when the newly renovated station (when they moved to Merton lol) opened. It tied in with the beginning of the Canley Fields serial killer plot. It's S6E42 or 44 I can't remember which one.

To anyone wondering, this is why Meadows let Deakin the rap for the Beech fiasco. One corrupt DS led to his first demotion to DCI, he was hardly going to let it happen again.

When Burnside and Roach left the series went down the tube, turned into a soap opera. If the two of them were around when Beech came on the scene it would have been different. The booze was Ted’s downfall.
