YT can’t even pull the BEE card on this industry… I’ll tell you a quick story before I explain myself further… there’s a town named George in the western cape … the local government here collided with the YT to introduce metro buses… something that the community didn’t need obviously considering the size of the town, infrastructure and viability of the taxi industry… before you knew if it was blood baths everywhere the taxi associations were killing each other coz already they were divided by what the YT man had offered them… he said 1. Give up your taxi permit we’ll buy it at R70K 2. We’ll give you and your children permanent jobs as bus drivers etc 3. You’ll help us convince all taxi owners to forsake the taxi industry so we enter with our buses… The colored community easily sold out their permits, Afrikans resisted, then the YT increase the offer to pacify them black men… before we knew it people died and buses were burning down and it was your typical unruly taxi industry chaos… whilst we were facing that - then suddenly we had hit men show up out of nowhere killing taxi bosses and association leaders… only coz YT men can’t be part of the taxi industry… rather destroy it and make it unruly… so it’s demonized and loathed by the future taxi owners so the black men never amounts to nothing… We should actually be proud of that industry and make it our responsibility to modernise it without government or YT men trying to interfere… however the elite of SA can’t have black men excel anywhere where their hands can’t reach. The day we begin to witness a radical transformation of the taxi industry - that’s the day you’d know that black men have sold out…
