Serpent stew is one of THE BEST health foods in the entire game and the only one you can access before plains. I actively hunted serpents for their meat during my playthrough. They seem to spawn in two circumstances: Night, or storm. During night they will randomly spawn near your boat, and they will not notice you immediately, providing you a chance to surprise attack for multiplied damage. During storm they may randomly spawn in frightened state right next to your boat, they will just appear out of nowhere, roar, and begin to bite your boat. I slow down the boat when hunting sepent because if you sail pass too fast, they can't catch on to you, they might just swim away and you will lose your prey. Also if they died too far from your boat it will be troublesome to pick up the meat. The best weapons for serpent hunting are: Arbalest, Frost staff, or spine bow if you have high level on bows. When shooting the serpent it is better off to keep just a little distance from it so you don't accidentally hit your boat. Just kill them on the waters for better efficiency unless you want their scales and trophy. I am not certain about this but it seems like they have better chances to spawn if a floating island/Levitan is near (I had one night that four serpents spawned in a row right next to a floating island). I strongly suggest yall hunt serpents as early as you can since that juicy +80 health will help you a lot on fighting anything. It literally has the same status as mistland tier foods.

I never used the harpoon but had a fully upgraded scale shield and 2 trophies. You just need to kite the serpent to shore. I suggest using the Longship, not the Karve. To use the serpent's parts you need iron and turnip anyways so there is no reason to hunt them before the swamp. You need to aggro it, you can use your bow to damage it under 10% of its life. Then you start moving towards the shore at minimum speed because you need the serpent attacking your boat. If it can't hit your boat for a minute, it loses aggro. Once you're near the shore you can kill it. Using the harpoon as a solo player is difficult.

common mispronunciation on chitin. It's like kite-in. not chit-in. Origin is greek, means "covering" iirc.

Another way to get scales and trophy without is to get it really low then swim up and punch it everything will go into your inventory if you have enough room and they don’t do that much damage actually

Ocean biome is sadly even underappreciated by the developers themselves :(

1:43 could have mined more. Also helps to use better Stamina food / Eikthyr Buff to have a few more swings.

No need to kill Eikthyr (although the power is one of the best in game) just lure a troll to hit copper and tin ores for you and learn to dodge at the same time. Pretty fast mining way aswell, no need to go and repair your pickaxe midway. I'm already at fenris set, fang spear and silver stuff without beating any bosses, sadly I have to beat moder to gain access to artisan table and rest of the stuff and yagluth if I want to get a wisp. 😵‍💫

Ty ty...one other use for the harpoon late game is for a solo player in mistland dungeons. I wont say more for spoiler reasons but i saw players using it even late game.

I have some aditional tips regarding what you already touched up in the video. (Which was plenty informative already, great job!) -110 chitin is all you need per player in order to craft one Harpoon(30) and one fully upgraded Abyssal Razor(80) -A leviathan's sinking animation can be interrupted by unloading the area currently within your game's render distance. (easiest way to do this would be to log out of the game and log back in) interrupt this animation as many times as you deem necesary and this will allow the player to harvest all of the Chitin from a single Leviathan. (This tip can be considered a game exploit, one that is trivially easy to replicate.) -IMPORTANT: Serpents, as well as any other mob in the game can "get bored" and attempt to flee combat. This happens whenever the creature takes damage while it itself NOT managing to attack anything for a prolonged period of time. This means that in order to increase your chances of luring a serpent to the shore, you MUST allow it to attack something every now and then, either let it attack you, or your boat, and you will drastically reduce the times you see your serpent fleeing away from your hunt. -Serpents, as shown in the video, can be dragged ashore with the use of a harpoon, but did you know that Serpents are also hostile with all other creature biomes? You can play the role of dragging it ashore, and if you're lucky, the serpent will be killed by local land-dwelling creatures like greydwarf, draugr or fulings, freeing you of some of the hassle.

wtf are you talking about shield nobody has it’s the first thing I get after getting a pick and boat makes everything through swamps way easier.

its a bad tier shield, and its the largest biome being next to dead content. its not under appreciated its just an obstacle that leads some player to get burnt out.
