Athena played everyone imo. She saved Kratos from Ares when Kratos was a kid in GOW GOS to preserve him. Would have been smarter to destroy both brothers. Uses him in Chains of Olympus. Doesn't tell Kratos the full truth in GOW1, but helps him beat Ares. Makes Kratos a God despite knowing full well what Kratos really wanted and knew it would drive him mad. She dies as a hero in Zeus's eyes in GOW2, then helps Kratos defeat Zeus and the other Gods(Her own family) in GOW3. Later wanted to spread her "message" to mankind after Kratos killed Zeus. She probably would have convinced Kratos to destroy himself if he hadn't self deleted after his fight with Zeus. She knew everything, but chose to watch the chaos unfold for her to capitalize for herself alone.

This has long been an interpretation I've believed in. God does not discount humans seeing other beings as godlike to us, he actually says "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." Which means you cannot put any god on a higher pedestal than his value to you, which is in of itself a statement that there are others we would call gods. Its been my belief that the mythologies are just different interpretations via languages etc all telling very similar stories about the same events. But no religion actually ties all others together, except for the Biblical story. All other religions abstain from admitance of other faiths, but the biblical God states you simply cannot put them before your faith to him. To me, all religions of the past have held a truth as Angels/Demons/Fallen Angels that God had created before Earth existed. And to us, they are godlike in nature, assuming many forms and shapeshifting abilities. But most, if not all, had grown too fond of human faith and used their stations to try to rival God, which earned his ire on them. This sort of theory explains how most religions, as they transferred to biblical faith, described it as a the 'Christ God(God of Abraham) arose and all others fell silent' sort of vibe they depicted as their religions changed. The Biblical faith tied others into itself, not refused them. It accepted their existence, but denied them authority above God/Eloheim. And thus is exemplified in how God interacts with Angels/Demons that question him in the bible. He doesnt erase them or just erradicate them, he shows them the reality of the situation, even if over very long durations of time. He lets their arrogance cause their own downfall. And no angel or demon was ever actually willing to try to fight God, because it is a conceptually futile task, it just cant be done. Even Lucifer, the strongest and most vital Angel of his era, 'As if the Light itself,' which God himself often refers to as separately from himself, being the way to properly live in true harmony and peace. Even Lucifer wouldnt try to actually fight God when they disagreed, Lucifer instead tried to argue he had a better plan. The same truth would extend to all other religions, if they coexisted with biblical faith, not a single entity would try to fight the God in the bible, it would be entirely self destructive to do so, as they are a being of absolution. All other faiths have an entity in the very beginning they simply refer to as a form of Chaos being, usually without sentience in their mythology. In Biblical faith however, that Chaos concept is God's own power/vastness. He /is/ the never ending flow of possibility, whereas all others acted like Chaos was either evil or a slumbering sentience that will eventually awaken to devour creation once more.

The concept of the Abrahamic God in the GoW universe would be that they oversee the higher plane that Athena went to. When it comes to religions/mythologies, there is no Godlike entity in a more potent position than the Abrahamic God. All other myths and faiths end up putting a Chaos entity/aspect being the beginning of everything, but the Abrahamic faith describes creation as God is that power of Chaos itself, or atleast wields it. It's also the only faith system that can integrate all others without truly contradicting itself in terms of accepting existence of; Greek myth denies Egyptian myth exists etc, but Abrahamic God stated there were other gods, but none may be more important to humans than himself. The only thing to say truly would contradict is hierarchy and origins, but if you look at it through a scope of those 'gods' being biblical angels, it becomes a lot more connected to biblical systems. Fallen Angels that go to earth and try to play god, or try to lead humanity in the right direction morally, but interfere too much. They would go by many names and be regionally based. I think the tear that Odin was trying to look into was God, he said it himself it's a source of infinite knowledge and a higher plane of existence above himself and all other pagan gods, he even compares the relationship of it to him as him to mortals to Kratos once, basically saying this tear whatever it is is the God of all gods.

The tear was a link to a realm only certain entities can reach, Athena reached that realm by way of pure self sacrifice. Its a plane of existence where the normal limits of gods are removed. They cant truly die once they are there. Gods by nature in the GoW universe are incredibly selfish in their desires. Only a desire meant to protect others can give them the access to that realm. Ymir sacrificed himself in his entirety to Odin, to protect his children and create the 9 Realms of the Yggdrasil with his literal body. Ymir made a sacrifice even above Athena's, and gave his entire sentience to his sacrifice, which resulted in his tether to that different plane of existence, being left behind. The broken mask being a representation of Ymirs soul, so to speak. Atreus repaired Ymirs soul, which freed him and closed the tear.

Whether you believe it or not, Christ was an actual man and had hundreds of eye-witnesses of his resurrection, who were willing to be martyred (but that's for another argument).
