right, and why not just say I helped her run away. She wants to be alone. Or she asked me to not take her to the airport and idk what happened, but he just refused to say anything which looks so much more shadier than just saying the truth that she ran away UNLESS HES GUILTY and the truth was that he killed her :/ I just really hope it's solved soon. And I don't think the stepdad "helped" her escape in any good way.

A diploma is basically unusable if you don’t have any other form of ID. You have to prove you are the person who earned the diploma and since she left her wallet and ID she wouldn’t have been able to do that, rendering her diploma a useless piece of paper. Why even bring it? She didn’t, someone else took it to throw the cops off!

Emotional abuse and verbal comes before physical abuse. Add homophobia to that and James is the clear suspect. My theory is that she told him about the 3 way which triggered some male entitlement in him and led to him trying to sexually assault her. He either succeeded and then decided to kill her or it went "wrong". He disposed of her and sent the texts. We've seen this story play out so many times, and I trust her family's instincts. The mum must feel terrible asking James to drive her to the airport. You never know what someone is capable of.

That seems with what information there is to be the most logical thing. I keep wondering to myself what part of her private life made her stay to latched on to her girlfriend in another state. It's not normal unless she had something going on in her private life that made her want to be away from the situation. But that wouldnt help to speculate on. I hope one day there is some resolution in this case for the family.

@@amaraberger7113 the problem it's that if police have that ability, criminals wil get their hands on the information to do it too and it will compromise the information of all kinds of people. It's just not very plausible. Phone companies can provide certain information from an account if police subpoena the records but that can only go so far. Different companies log different amounts of information.

This girl met with foul play, period. She is not going to run away and just never have any contact with her family ever again because she cheated on her girlfriend! Especially when she was away from her family, she kept in contact with them a few times a day via phone and she has a new nephew. James has everything to do with her disappearance! How does he explain that he told her mom he dropped her off at the airport when he (according to him) actually dropped her off at the mall, but then there is no sign of her ever being at the mall. Also, I don't think someone is going to chuck a big suitcase out of a car window while it's moving, when they could be easily seen doing so by people in other cars. But he COULD have stopped on the side of the road, got out, walked to the other side of the car, get the suitcase out, the suitcase is then hidden from passersby by the car. Then he waited for the coast to be clear, and then chucked it and got back in his car. And then he doesn't show up for work EVER AGAIN from that day forward?? Come on, this guy did something with her!!

He didn’t actually tell her mum that he dropped her off at the airport, he did tell her he dropped her at the mall. I’m not saying he’s innocent, just something to consider

@@lauraedwards7389 No, at 7:24, she said James texted Lisa and said he "dropped her OFF, no worries". He was supposed to be dropping her off at the airport and he told her he dropped her off. He didn't say anything about dropping her off at the mall at this time.Then 8 minutes later, she got a text from "Katelin", which we know wasn't her, saying, she's at the airport. James at this time is playing like he dropped her off at the airport and that Katelin is at the airport. Then Amber gets a text saying she missed her flight. How could she miss her flight when she was supposedly at the airport well before (hours before) her flight even takes off? Lisa gets worried and feels like something is wrong so she calls James and THEN THAT'S WHEN he changes his story and tells her, "Well ACTUALLY, I dropped her off at the mall." and that Katelin asked him to drop her there and she would catch the metro to the airport. He was FIRST playing like he dropped her off at the airport with his text to Lisa and "Katelin's" text to Lisa.

YES!!! That was very distressing and sad. If we were looking a little more often, how many young women's bodies we would found accidentally? It is very suspicious for me that the body was found on the same road where her luggage was thrown. What could connect these two cases is human trafficking.

I scrolled for quite a while without seeing this information - so wanted to post it. I have watched/listened to so many things about this case. The "second property" that he has is where his mother lives. For some crazy reason, the cops are not allowed to search it because she resides there, not him, which obviously still makes no sense. So she is not likely to be being held there unless the mother doesnt know or is on board with it. Katelyns mother has suggested James's mother could be part of the suitcase throwing as James has seemingly no friends or social life except for her, but I find that crazy to imagine (but i don't know her so anything is possible). I'd love to think that she just ran away - but if thats the case, James should be more cooperative with the family and police. He probably talked to a lawyer which (smartly) advised him against a polygraph... but if he helped her in any way that day, by lying about driving her or where he drove her (obvious by her pings that he was), or actually taking her somewhere else, he should have come clean by now. I agree with most people that he more than likely did something to her. I hope they get some answers to this one for her poor family.

hi Bella! i'm from Poland and we had a couple of national mysteries as well, I think that some of them are great topics for your videos: Magdalena Żuk, a girl who went to Egypt and died there, I think this case still remains unsolved (she allegdly comitted suicide) Ewa Tylman, a girl who was found dead 6 months after she disappeared and Iwona Wieczorek, a girl who disappeared over 7 years ago and still hasn't been found I think these three were the loudest cases in Poland and I am honestly clueless as to what could've happen. it would be great to hear about them in your videos!

Right off the bat why would James tell her mother he already dropped her off at the airport & wait until she figured out she really didn't for him to switch his story and say "oh I dropped her at the mall". Being a man he probably just threw the most obvious place a teen would hang out in the mix to cover up something. What would she had needed so important that she HAD to stop at the mall before her flight. Makes no sense! (I might reply with other agitations of this case that y'all might agree with)
@adriannaleonardo6618
@adriannaleonardo6618 5 жыл бұрын
Also why would she be staying with a friend needing some time alone when shes been looking forward to all these plans? Of course after James said she went to the mall he has to cover up something by making her reply with excuses. So he had to make it look like she's pushing them away and got cold feet essentially

if theres one thing i take from these cases are that the victims are usually compassionate, kind, and self less innocent people who had their lives or normalcy taken from them and i guess thats what really hurts since they dont deserve what ever happened to them.
@Person01234
@Person01234 2 жыл бұрын
Worth remembering people usually remember and describe the dead with rose tinted glasses. I'm not saying they weren't decent people, but I do doubt that every murder victim ever was this relentlessly kind and wonderful person who was always great to be around that they seem to be described as. I imagine most murder victims are just generally your average kind of people, perhaps with people who are suspicious or self-serving being slightly more survivable than those who are trusting. It's just that most people when describing a loved one who just died/went missing aren't going to nitpick about all those times they annoyed them or didn't do something for them.

So this will be voluntarily polygraphed. They will go out of their way to answer questions and “help” to make it look like they are innocent. THANK YOU for doing this case justice! I follow a lot of true crime, I've heard a ton about this story; and literally every telling I've heard before yours characterized Katelin so differently. Her and her family are so often portrayed as dumb, naive, incapable of planning something elaborate, etc. (probably because of the area they are from tbh. These are common stigmas of Virginia). I had heard so many versions of the story with the theory that Katelin was aloof, not very bright, easily confused, too emotional, too trusting..... there's always theories included that put more blame on her for her supposed shortcomings. I was shocked to hear you start your retelling by saying how smart and gifted she was. Now I'm mad at how prevalently she's been disrespected by others. Thank you for doing right by her. Putting your video out was so important.

I have a theory that he is keeping her because he is either alone, or sexually abusing her either one, but he was grooming her in the beginning and he is using her diploma as leverage and she needs clothes to live but she wouldn't need any of the other stuff otherwise. He had her in a car so he had the upper hand and he took her to a place where she wouldn't be found so he could continue to have a relationship with her
