That spot was created by a massive rig fire many years ago. Fire was left to burn itself out. Very deep hole.

I was told a story many years ago by an old timer that grew up in the area. According to him this was the site of Humble #1, a natural gas rig. Massive hole created after explosion and fire. He said there was a half-track truck on the rig when it went up.

I’d like to see a night fishing video at the canals! Although, that’s tricky…. most people don’t like people doing that, but a buddy and I get in his small boat and troll around every few months. NO traffic, and usually have most areas to yourself. We don’t make a lot of noise and are respectful not to cast onto the docks.

Your reels starting to sound like mine. Speed spool goin on 5 years with no grease or cleaning, used and abused and its still going strong. A little noisy but no problems, at this point its a science experiment to see how long we can go

Hole was created by an oil rig fire back in 1938- 1939. Fire buned for a year. Oil rig and rail cars all went into this hole.
