I wanted to directly comment this because I think it’s important to understand. To some people who are going through abuse or have been abused gypsy rose is a light of hope. To those that would question her idolization its simply a difference of privilege. I don’t mean to be rude but people who are more privileged socioeconomically and family wise could never really understand why someone would parade about gypsy rose. They see it as “glorification” or something horrible without understanding it’s a form of coping for less privileged individuals. No, I don’t think those with privilege are bad but I think when they don’t educate themselves it can send a harmful message.

I feel like the fact that they released an actual series on streaming sites about her case not too long ago has something to do with this warped vision people have of her, like when the Ted Bundy film with Zack Efron and the Jeffery Dahmer one with Evan Peters came out. Obviously the weird obsession and romantization of these real people already existed and it evolved with the renaissance of true crime content exploitation, but when these films came out it noticeably got way worse in a specific way: it allowed people to treat them like fictional characters from a story separated from the real people, to mythify them, and it went from being a kind of niche ocurence that you encountered in very specific circles to being mainstream, common ocurence.

She is being infatilized, dismissed, and sexualized all at once despite the fact she endured horrific abuse, organized a murder, and went to prison. Let the poor woman have some peace so she can adjust to life free from confinement. I have a feeling it’s more so something she got thrown into and is riding with since it’s exciting and she doesn’t see another option to support herself and her husband. She’s very high profile and went to prison at such a young age and was sheltered for so much of her life. She probably has little to no job skills and many places will pass her up just based on the attention she will bring alone. Her husband was fired just for marrying her. For now, people are interested, but the attention span of the internet is fleeting. I just don’t see this panning out well for her in the long run. But I hope I’m wrong.

This was probably one of the best view points I've seen so far. Although, it most certainly seems like she is seeking a media circus. She's been lied to and manipulated her entire life, she was also taught how to lie, steal and manipulate her entire life. Her entire life has been a media tour, she was often in TV and in interviews as a child to show how "strong she was to have all these aliments and still be strong and smiling and moving forward how much strength she and her mother showed in the face of some of the hardest medical diagnosis people have seen from a child" She honestly probably doesn't even understand that she is seeking media attention bc this has been the go to from her mother to earn fame, sympathy, money ECT. It's all she knows. She is repeating history just in a different light now. You can see her therapy work is paying off, her responses are that of therapy work "what I did was wrong, but I didn't actually do the act, taking responsibility for my part in this" She did what she was taught, she manipulated a mentally ill man into committing murder for her bc she couldn't do it herself, it is still her fault her mother is dead bc she brought this idea to light she asked for it she planned it she carried through with that action. No she didn't hold the knife but she is very much culpable for her mother's demise no matter how much abuse she delt with those actions were hers. She is trying in the way she knows how to take accountability for those actions and so many are blowing it off and only further deepening her delusions of this not being her actions, her fault, her idea. She served the time the judge decided to give her, she's obviously working on herself very hard and attempting to move forward in the way she knows how to. Having her husband as a support system probably is very comforting for her as she has never had to be independent, she has never been alone. Her mom insured she had no way of understanding how to ever be independent, so I am sure she has a lot of co dependent attributes to overcome in her future. The world watched her horrific childhood unfold through a drama docuseries, the whole truth the entire nightmare of that reality wasn't portrayed and probably never will be, so the world fell in love with the child version that is known as an abused kid gypsy rose. She most likely did think the only way out was this way, and obviously has learned that even still it wasn't the right way. I think the world should allow her to move forward, she can absolutely go to school further her education get a job and move forward. The media circus that is her life right now is only imo furthering her childhood trauma of having to be camera ready to show the world a side of you that they need and want to see. This is only going to further guide her into regression of her therapy work, by doing the exact same thing her mother did to her. Put her on TV, showcase her life, sign anything that will get her more fame more money more attention. Hopefully in time she can come to an understanding that her and her husband should just live their lives and that the world has no rights to her, she isn't owned anymore she doesn't have to put on a show she can be finally free for the first time in her whole life. I sympathize with the victim aspect of Gypsy Rose, I do not support or condone glamorizing a person who was the reason a murder was committed. If the media would stick to the narrative she is very much trying to show that what she did was wrong, she doesn't hate her mother, she wishes she didn't commit this crime and doesn't want to push that as there may very much be a young child at home in a similar situation as her they may see how many are Washing her terrible actions aside and praising her for it instead, they may to believe that they can do the same. Her mom created a prison for her, if that's what you mean by her childhood being in prison. She was involved and organized her mother's murder when she was 22 years old. She's in her 30s now.
