Bad grammar aside, I agree with you Especially if they lie about any sexual abuse. If you say that, then the child has to be throughly examined; no matter if the accuser tries to take it back. To put a child through that unnecessarily is abhorrent.

There are a couple states where false allegations carry the penalty that the actual crime would, but I don't know if it applies to accusing someone of harming a child.

I'm so glad for that.. There is one case that I will NEVER EVER forget.. A wife suspected her husband was poisoning her, he was a pharmacist.. She set up hidden cameras to get evidence to make sure.. He's caught doing just that.. Now because she DIDN'T die the judge sentenced him to 1 year because he believed if he wanted to kill her as a pharmacist he could have.. Smdh.. I guess if she had worse ER doctors he would have received more time..

‘Would never do anything to harm him’. Conveniently forgot how she had falsely accused him of abusing their child precisely for the purpose of ‘taking her child’s father away from him’, which was the other thing she oathed on all that is holy, was something she was simply not capable of doing. Unraveled quite spectacularly her plot. Ended up falling in the hole she’d prepared for her husband.

The fact that Weldon got a waaayyy longer sentence than her doesn't sit right with me. Sure he was the one with the gun and pulled the trigger so a part of this sentence is probably regarding all the unlawful use of a firearm things etc and that he was an absolute moron to put himself in this situation. But the fact that she manipulated him to do it makes me feel like she is at least as much responsible than him for all of this. I don't really think he should have got less, but I definitely think she should have got way more.
@User31129

I feel that because he wasn't killed, was barely even shot, the sentences should have been less. I believe Weldon in that if he meant to kill, dude would be out cold. This to me is like an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon thing, 10-15 years. And for her, even less. I don't buy that the ex wife who slept with him and paid him should get more. He could have been an adult and said no.

One small thing about KZfaqrs that I’ve noticed is that so many are so young that normal jobs don’t seem real to them. Like anything that isn’t a lawyer or racecar driver is boring. Like technical writing?! It’s just an office job. It’s pretty cool as far as office jobs go. And the end product has to meet legal requirements, be easily translatable, tested, etc. Anyway, this is from a former technical writer who got really into it and is now getting a PhD to research health and safety for environmental issues. Us tech writers watch KZfaq too 😭.

If you just wanted to scare him you would use blanks. Or shoot into the ground. The fact that he was hit in the armpit means Wheldon was aiming at him. It also means that he could have accidentally killed up to 5 other people if he was on flat ground and there were other people within a few hundred yards. Honestly a much better defense would have been to say that he asked Diana to load the rifle with blanks (or that he loaded it and she had access to it) and she slipped a live round in. Assuming the other 5 bullets were never found. It also depends on the rifle used. If it was gas operated you'd need wadding to create pressure to cycle the gas system, but its better than his "aiming error from an expert marksman" defense.

This is why you don't get involved in other people's fights. You never know if the person you're trying to protect is actually telling you the truth. Edit: I just listened to Weldon's statement saying he only meant to shoot by him, not actually shoot him. He's ex military, and a gun instructor. He knows better than that. The FIRST thing you ever learn about a firearm is that you NEVER point it at someone or something that you don't intend to kill. That statement is meant to impress upon anyone that pointing a gun, even an "unloaded" gun, is the same as intent to kill. How many times have you heard of people getting killed because they "didn't know the gun was loaded?" That's exactly why the first thing you're ever taught about guns is guns can kill, and pointing one at someone is tje equivalent of intending to kill. Because if that gun goes off while you're pointing it at someone, you're going to kill them. You certainly don't shoot near someone to "scare them." Distance, velocity, wind direction, load size, and many other factors can affect the trajectory/drop enough to actually hit someone you "didn't mean to shoot." He knows better. He darn sure knows better. I think it's good that they both got sentences long enough to be life sentences. Even though she got a lesser sentence (probably because she didn't actually squeeze the trigger, have illegal guns/modifications, etc), it's still a good long sentence. Her earliest date of release will be when she's 70. Not everyone lives to be 70. Even if she lives to 70, and her good behavior was exemplary, she has no hope of life after 70. She'll be a homeless old woman IF she's released at 70. So fair enough, she effectively has a life sentence and nothing to look forward to when/if she gets out.

It’s crazy how often in these cases the people who think they’ve planned the “perfect crime” make a ton of really obvious mistakes. It doesn’t seem to ever be like “It was the perfect crime, nearly, but with loads of diligent police work, investigating every possible lead and with the help of a lucky break we cracked it.” It’s more often something like “He left his business card at the crime scene.” 😂 Though I guess we don’t hear about the ones that do it right. 🤷🏻‍♀️

@@liecrusher3506 Not exactly, the rate of closed cases has gone down more and more over the years, to the point that just over 50% of cases are solved/closed now. But that still means the majority (though a very narrow majority) are solved.

Her decision to “faint” when the guilty verdict was read shows how she’s used to solving difficulties in life. She tried defaming her husband, expecting the situation to just resolve with people taking her side. Low and behold when she ultimately is found guilty for attempting to have him killed, she desperately tries to reclaim her victim status and ease in trying to control the difficult situations she finds herself in.

FYI- Her 25 year sentence was pre-determined. At the point they read the guilty verdict, her future was set. At the moment the guilty verdict was read, there would be no point in her faking anything, because no amount of sympathy or anything from it would change anything. It just looks phony because real life looks different than the movies.
