There is a connection between the black box and Xigbar's bowguns. If you take a look at Xigbar's bowguns, there are exactly 13 spikes when you combine both bowguns. Each bowgun has 6 small spikes and 1 long protruding spike. That is the exact number of locks on the black box luxu carries. The 6 spikes on each bowgun resemble the 12 locks on the black box. The black box has a central 13th lock in the middle that resembles a 4-spike figure. The 4-point figure on the centre of the box has 1 long protruding spike. A similar protruding spike is seen on each of xigbar's bowgun. If you look at the bowgun's from a bird's eye view, the bowguns resemble the black box's central 13th lock. Even Xigbar's bowguns have the exact 4-spike figure shape from a bird's eye view. Ever since luxu and the black box were introduced, this little detail was overlooked. Xigbar's bowguns were not designed to have 13 spikes for decoration. It was really that planned out since Xigbar was introduced in 2005. Xigbar had the lock openers to the black box this entire time. Either that or the 13 darknesses are needed to open the box.

I think the MOM is a Lich and his Black Box is actually his a phylactery. That's why he's still alive after all this time. Think about the Pirates of the Caribbean world. Davy Jones technically fits the definition of a lich given that his immortality was tied to his heart(essence of the soul) being contained in that small box.

I think when you mentioned alternate timelines, thats spot on. If you notice when xigbar picks up the No Name keyblade in the epilogue, hes standing in the exact same place that the heros were standing at that same moment when they beat xehanort. But they arent there. Also, the last thing malificent says when looking for the box is, "maybe its not where it is...its WHEN it is..." so i think the box was just hidden in another timeline/worldline/universe.

Not sure if I am misinterpreting it, but it almost seemed like Xigbar kinda wanted to save Sora for a bit. He gives Sora advice to be careful about relying too much on his heart and then mournfully thinks about how many people he's seen lost that way.

I think in the box there is Ava . During the case of Ava , The master talk to Ava and said “Ava ... you are the only HOPE”. Ava repeat the word “hope” again. In the pirates of Caribbean’s world Luxord , talking with Sora , said that in the box there is the HOPE. Ava , in the epilogue , was absent maybe is already present , in to the black Box.

Luxu is easily the most interesting Kingdom Hearts series character and his lore is beyond fascinating

Honestly, Xigbar was already one of my favorite characters. I actually like Luxord better, but Xigbar was up there.

Having read the other entries already, I think he’s hinting at nothingness being an actual populated realm/existence, and the box is a link to that realm. Terra seems to have been in there the entire time he was Terranort. And Vanitas is desperately trying to go back to that state.

I feel it's important to point out some theoretical physics of Time Travel because Xigbar happens to bring them up. Their is a theory Time is not Continuous like we think, it may not even be in order. Time in this theory are like photos of every second placed in an album. They exist in an order but are also all happening at once, we only perceive time as linear. If one were to see time in it's entirety then this person could be capable of going any where at any when and know every second of the flow of time.

Luxu sounds like he’s been through some stuff. But then, how would you feel after drifting through the world alone for possibly millennia? He’s a fascinating character. I wonder, if the MoM placed the light part of him inside the box to preserve it until the time is right for that part of him to come out an serve a role. And also now that we sorta know his goal is to stop the darkness based on the cornerstone of rebirth union x cutscene, and that darkness and light can be separated in a person, I suspect he hid his light half inside the box because it’s not the time yet. Not to mention that cutscene when MoM talked about his childhood seems to have occurred after everyone has been given their role and probably before the keyblade war, based on the fact that Luxu was the first to be given his role and left before the rest were given theirs, and from the way the MoM said it Ava was apparently already given her role. So MoM in a sense lied about him disappearing, to everyone except Luxu. What I’m getting from this is that the MoM did disappear, but rather the important half of him that he wanted to protect. This could also explain why he appeared to Xehanort despite saying he disappeared, and that Luxu said in the reports that “he will return” as if he really disappeared, but was actually referring to the Master light half. After all, never had the MoM told Luxu he will disappear, since the cornerstone cutscene happened after the former’s public disappearance.

I worry for Luxu. It seems that living for longer then he can count has done things to his mind. However besides some forgetfulness it so for doesn't seem to bad. However I don't remember Xemans opening a door to this world's Kingdom Hearts. He does ask a kingdom hearts that he is understands the heart and it makes a door that Sora, Riku, and Mickey open and Xemans is behind the door. However that kingdom hearts is not the real one. Ansem seeker of darkness did make a door and opened it in KH1 however that was the door to darkness. I am fairly sure that the door itself had a very small copy of kingdom hearts in it. Or kingdom hearts when no one is summoning it to the realm of light naturally lays in the realm of darkness and all KH1's door was doing was making a door into the realm of darkness so that people can go wandering through it in search for it. Seeing as Mickey was able to get into the realm of darkness without a weird door thing made up of the hearts of many worlds that could only be opened with a key made form the hearts of seven princesses of heart makes me thing that Ansem seeker of darkness either didn't know what he was doing or the door really was a very small copy of kingdom hearts. So what was this door Xemans opened and what is Luxu talking about? Am I being Nick picky about something that Luxu likely didn't see in the first place? Yes, Yes I am. Anyway I am fairly sure he asks about how much time has pasted since the end of KH2. Unless Xemans really did find the true Kingdom Hearts and made a door with it sometime when we didn't see I am going to guess Luxu meant that door. Well for Hayer, Pence, and Olette it seems that it hasn't been very long at all, they are still in summer vacation it says so on the gummiphone. Axel says that summer vacation only lasts a month. However he is from Radiant Garden not Twilight town so lest's give then closer to seven to eight weeks. In kingdom hearts 2 the world that seems to have the biggest time jump is Land of Dragons, meaning that it either has a faster time system then the rest of the nearby worlds or at lest two maybe three weeks pass between first and second visit. The Pride Lands also seem to have about that much of a time gap. So the full trip twice to all the worlds in KH2 must take about five weeks. Then we have the between things. It has to be at lest a day before recoded happens and over all that game didn't seem to take all that much in lore time to do. The letter could have gotten to the Destiny Islands in less then a week, and the rest of the week was spent deciding to go and getting to Yen Sid's tower. DDD was spent in a very deep sleep it always seemed to me that it at most took two days, maybe a few hours seeing as Mickey seems to be talking to Yen Sid the whole time. Then there is KH3, there feels like a in lore rush to that game, however Sora spends sometimes full days in the worlds. Looking at travel time, he must be getting much faster as he is now opening his own wormholes but at the same time it has to take at lest a week to get all the way through KH3. So from the start of KH2 to the end of KH3 it has to be about seven weeks. If we say that the day at Destiny Islands is the last day of summer for Hayer, Pence, and Olette, that can make sense. For Sora and Riku who spent time in the sleeping worlds it would seem longer, for Lea and Kairi the time spent training under Merlin would also make the time seem longer. Then everyone searches for Sora for a year. Sometime in that year Luxu gets his friends back and they do not seem to be making any moves yet. People three games happened in that many weeks and they go a full year of nothing happening? I know that you have to age some of your characters up a bit and maybe the foretellers are doing things that we simply don't know about but this is really pushing it. Also some of these characters are searching for Sora in places that they will not age at all. Their is no reason for a year to pass in lore unless you really want Sora to seem really stuck in what seems to be the realm of death. Focusing back on Luxu. What do I think he is going to be doing in the future? Something to get MoM back. After all that is why the foretellers started the keyblade war. It is what they want. Luxu or Ava may even have some idea of how to do it at this point.

the thing that, admittedly I might be reading too much into it, but what does it mean by "this world's kingdom hearts"? there are really only two possibilities. One is that he's talking to someone while in the world that never was (as the one summoned by xemnas and refers to the aggregate of hearts idea in the third Xehanort report in bbs, or it could be referring to the wider WORLD (KH setting in our world) with its own Kingdom Hearts or equivalent thereof. This is more interesting as the WORLD we the kh series is in was just one world, suggesting that KHUX is NOT an isolated instance. Maybe sora was popped into another WORLD sometime after KH3, possibly Shibuya. This might explain why the guardians of light had a hard time finding him since he's in ANTHOTHER PLANE OF EXISTENCE. Though how this theoretical other WORLD first fell is a bit up in the air, maybe it fell into darkness (but we don't see heartless and the gigas have different symbols, more akin to unversed), or maybe some light infection ala the first from shadowbringers.

Now i very well could be reading WAYYYY too much into this but hear me out. The part that peaked my interest was the very beginning. "People all over the world live peacefully, bathed in the warmth of light. But before they knew it a battle broke out over the light. And as a result, everything returned to nothing. However...It happened so long ago that no one even knows how long ago it was. But maybe this story is happening in the present? Or is it that distant past?" What bothers me is the fact that everything returned to nothing. If everything return to nothing that would be the same as saying "darkness prevailed and light expired" right?? Which if thats true than who recreated the world in the first place afterwards? or rather how did darkness not prevail? The MoM already confirmed multiple keyblade wars prior to the one in KHx. What he did not confirm was Kingdom Hearts and it having the power to reset the world. Where it gets interesting is...Luxu saying that it happened so long ago but no one even remembers when. If i had to throw out a theory (with no evidence), it sounds like someone (maybe the MoM) traveled back in time and relived the events of the original aka the very first keyblade war (not the one in KHx). And he did it multiple times... Which leads me to the black box...now this may sound really dumb but what if the box was really not black. What if the box was white and the contents inside the box made it turn black. The MoM did something with that black box when he time traveled. Im starting to think the contents of the box contains either the MoM heart, The MoM body and heart, the original Kingdom Hearts from the very first war or the darkness that was suppose to return everything to nothing.

So, you are reading too much into what he said about this world's kingdom hearts being opened up. While it is odd, you have to think of it like this: look at how the twilight town gang reacted to when sora told them it's been a long time since they've last met, with it being implied in the length of years. They replied by saying that it hasn't been that long, implying handful of weeks maybe a month or two. What that time passage meant while we the fans see it as that happening a long time ago, it hasn't been all that long since it has happened, given that dream drop started a bit after 2 ended and 3 starting immediately after dream drop. While it can be seen as a meta moment, it plays into what you said about when you read that sneak peek a ways back. Xigbar has cast off his form so many times that he could possibly not be sure when exactly the artificial kingdom hearts was opened, but he plays it off as recent to keep up his role, his disguise.

What if the Master of Masters is actually Adult Sora. He was from a different time & with Kingdom Hearts talking alot about time, time travel, different timelines he could be setting things up to face his younger self just as He taught Xenort the same thing to accomplish his plans.

I know whats in the box. The box is comprised of what Sora literally "IS". Sora's true capablites will be achieved once he finds it. All of Sora's Moves and Abilities will be realized when he aquires the box, or someone opens it. All of his moves and potential exists in that box. Its Sora, and he's a Toy. Like he's comprised of all of the members of org XIII, and the VII Hearts of Light. His moves are comprised from all the members of the Org XIII, and VII Hearts of Light. He's made up of every single person that he meets in the game. That's what you learn if you beat Xehanort Data. You begin to relialize that Sora is comprised of everyone. Every single character in the game. Then you take on the secret boss Yozora, who only exists to prove that Sora hasn't found all of his full powers yet. So the black box must contain what Sora truly is comprised of. Like his full potential and the truth of what he really is is in the box. It's literally what Sora is comprised of is what's in the box. There for we begin to realize that Sora is a manifestation of a toy that has inherited all of the destinies of the characters in the KH Universe.

honestly, i kind of felt kh3 felt more like a wrap-up than, a continuation like Nomura gave up on Xenort and then decided to opt-out and shift the story for other ideas because of how messed up everything got. 😅

5:27 that's certainly one of my major gripes with most of the good guys. I'll use sora as the shining example to keep the pronouns simple and because he's the protagonist. he speaks, thinks, and acts in trope-ese without a thought or consideration for logic or reasoning. it can work quite well for intentionally unrealistic stories such as KH and [insert shonen series], but it becomes insufferable when it's shoved in your face every opportunity. sora sees almost everything in black and white, with hearts, light, and friendship as the only answers. though I can't really blame him since *no good guy* ever bothers to correct him. "hearts and light are always good, so fuck you and your realism villain who must always be wrong!" "I'll light and heart the shit out of you until you change your mind!" *cough{elsa}cough* it's hyperbolic, but it is the feeling I'm left with. heroism is subjective. solutions to problems are subject to change based on situation, resources, potential threat to rescuer, etc. I was lucky enough to have learned that in EMT school.

seems like we need some philosophy to understand the black box.. i know it sounds kinda negative but the black box could hide an actual world inside it. i know i stated in the comments (twice fml) that inside the box could be a body but it mightaswell be world... at this point actually anything. if the box isnt a box then it could be anything.
