I absolutely LOVE, the Yam Yam accent. Totally REAL people. No pretence, just good honest what you see is, what you get just the, way it should be. FYI even I'm insulted that ppl think this accent sounds "thick" you forget the, WORLD was once made in and around Birmingham and the Black Country. It was the workshop of the world and the industrial revolution. These people have a LOT to be very proud of.

We've always been very accepting of people of different races and religions. Basically, if you can work, we want you. If you have a skill, especially in metalworking, we want you even more! Your creed and colour don't matter to us, if you can graft, you're more than welcome. You can see this at the back-to-back houses in Brum (yes, it's Birmingham, but the same thing applied - both very industrial areas). You had Jewish, Black, Italian, Catholic and Protestant people living in very close proximity - even sharing facilities such as the yard, the outside toilets and the "brewhouse" which was where the women did their laundry. They had to get on very well, living so closely together and sharing vital facilities. My Nan said that on a Saturday night, they'd pull the piano out into the yard, she would play it and people would have a drink and a dance.

I remember going to Liverpool and the scousers kept asking me to repeat myself because of the BC accent. I said “saft” to someone and they didn’t know what it meant, which was a little ironic.

We were speaking to 4 Geordie lads in a local restaurant, who were here for a works course. It was funny hearing their local dialect that we didn't understand and the same with them.

I can goo one better than that, the forst time I flew into lpool airport I tried to get a buz to the centre, all I asked the driver was " what's the damage?" In other words how much are the tickets? He was lost!!

It's funny how you mentioned how "the Black County accent equivalent to "American Hilbilly",when the American Southern accent is closest to the British accent then any other region in America (not including Canada).I think the Black County accent is interesting because (as I heard) is closest to what the Anglo Saxons spoke.Good video.

Hi there...Thanks for the kind comment...Apparently our accent is quite close to the language used by Geoffrey Chaucer. The pronunciation winder for window and loff instead of laugh was spoken in his day...

I LOVE the BC accent on men. It always strikes me as being VERY manly for some strange reason...and SO English. On women, however, it is shiver inducing!!. This lady gets away with it, just, but Mr Orange is big loveable looking chap and sounds WONDERFUL!. I know loads of people hate the BC accent (which they just call "Birmingham! (!!!) ") but not me. I live in NE Hampshire, close enough to London to have a mild "London" accent but rubbing shoulders with people who talk like farmers one minute (BROON BREAD or TWO WEEKS NIXT TOOZDI)then cockney guttersnipes the next ( OI GUVNER or DO WHAT or LEAVE I' ART MATE, E INT WERF I' ).

I am born in Birmingham and grew up in Redditch, which before the Birmingham overspill had its own variety of West Midlands speech. I REALLY object to morons who imagine that any variety of West Midlands accent makes people look stupid. What is stupid for sure is to judge people by accent or dialect.

True, but many people do make judgements. They equate speaking 'posh' with being better educated. Not necessarily the case of course.

To be honest...me personally getting bored as fk. why is always poshy bbc media type of accent.. well..even some people outside of uk find it so sexy..educated..higher class😑😒 you should proud your root accent.. 😊😚 Ps:sorry if im came cross as rude or smart arse..just my point of view as person whos not from UK(Indonesia)..😊
