This is a review and unboxing for the new 30th anniversary deluxe edition of The Black Crowes debut album Shake Your Money Maker. In this review I’ll take a look at both the 2 CD and the 3 CD editions of the album.

I have the 3cd digipack version. Cool stuff! Still I prefer their second album, I remember a friend of mine had a 2 cd version of it with a concert Ep and it was great. Maybe they'll do a Deluxe Edition of that album in a few years. Cheers.

This year is the 30th anniversary of The Southern Harmony And Musical Companion so I’d love to see a deluxe edition of it this year.

The 1972 thing is kinda cool . The Crowes are my all time favorite band , bought Shake when I was 12 , been with them for 30 . Fav tracks on Shake .. Seeing Things Sister Luck Stare it Cold .

@@BrendonSnyder thanx and great review . I just wish Marc Ford and Steve Gorman were back . I’ve noticed that Charlie Starr has been playing with them lately on guitar . That guy is great in Blackberry Smoke . The Ford years were the most fruitful in my opinion .

Hi Brendon, great unboxing. I was on the verge on purchasing the anniversary edition but heard about the issues you mentioned about the wrong disc being included in the 2 disc version. As it must be fixed now and just watching your video, now is the perfect time for me to pick it up. I'm looking forward to your album ranking. My favorite is the Southern Harmony with Shake Your Moneymaker in second place. To be honest, they could both tie for first. Third place would be By Your Side. Do you like the solo work released by Chris Robinson and Rich Robinson?

Yes I’ve been listening to the solo and side project work by both members. My favorite though is Rich Robinson’s solo albums.

I see you've got lions in the background . By far my favourite black crows album it has such an atmosphere about . Controversial I know but I thinks it's there best 👌

I want as into it when it first came out but over the years it’s really grown on me. Tomorrow I’ll be posting an album ranking for The Black Crowes and you’ll see where it ranks for me.

The tour is an obvious money grab. The brothers hated their guts as usual. Somebody talked them in the 30th anniversary Tour and they kicked Steve Gorman from the line-up to earn more money for themselves. Seen them several times, but I will not go without the beautiful groove and flow of Steve Gorman.

I agree and think this is also a money grab. But that said, Steve Gorman quit the group the last go around before they broke up. So I’m not surprised they didn’t invite him back for that reason. Why I am surprised is that Marc Ford who was playing in Rich Robinson’s Magpie Salute wasn’t invited back….or maybe he didn’t want to come back. Who knows. But like you I just see it as the brothers on tour and not really The Black Crowes.

The vinyl version has exactly the same content that the 3 cd edition, only that comes in a box

Easily Southern Harmony !! Followed by Amorica , Warpaint , By Your Side and I love Before the Frost .

Southern Harmony simply because it was my first Black Crowes album. But I can’t deny all the classic songs on the debut.

woah i thought you slipped when you said "3 cd version" but nope.. totally thought it was a vinyl release.

When it first arrived I thought they made a mistake and sent the vinyl version by mistake. Not sure why they went with this type of packaging for the CD version except maybe they liked that it was the size of a vinyl having that retro feel.
