Mine doesn’t look like that but it is a 5100 BTU unit. The console is black and doesn’t flip open. Thanks to your video, I understood the labor involved with setting it up. I should have watched your video before buying these units on sale from Costco. I thought this would be “plug and play,” because it was portable. Once the panel is in the window, there is nothing portable about this unit. Unless you can unglue the foam pieces and reglue them in a different window?

I wouldn't re-use the foam. Just go to Home Depot and purchase some new weatherstrip if you want to move it.

I got the same one as you RIGHT BEFORE the sale at Costco. I HAAAAATE it. Unfortunately, I used up my review when I was trying to install the thing. I thought last year, when my window A/C was so difficult to put in, "We're getting old now, we should get one of those 'portable' A/C units even if they aren't perfect." So naive.

Aaron I just bought this and when on fan only mode it constantly displays the temperature 77° F. Does your unit do the same when on fan only mode? My room temp was around 70° F not 77° outdoor temp was in the 60°s. I am out of my return window i bought this when on sale a couple months ago. I just want to know if they all do this or does mine have a faulty themrostat ?

Does yours shut off and on constantly ? Mine wants it gets up to temperature it seems to run for about 40 seconds and it shuts off for 3 minutes and then runs for 40 seconds and then shuts off for 3 minutes and then run for about 40 seconds. Now let's just say it's 80° in the room and I turn it down to 60 it will probably run for 10 to 15 minutes then shut off for 3 minutes then run 10 to 15 minutes and shut off for 3 minutes until it gets down to temperature and once it hits the temperature you want to there it tends to do the run for 30 off for 3 minutes one for 30 seconds off for 3 minutes. I don't know if I've got a short cycling problem or if this is designed this way. If you can answer that question that would be amazing kind of like just wondering if yours does this or not

Mine does not exhibit this behavior. Unfortunately I'm not much of an HVAC tech so I can't really diagnose your issue.

You might have too high of a BTU for your room. Mine shut off after 12 hours so I could dump the water out of it into the very handy floor drain that everyone has in their bedroom. ( I actually had to put it on 2x4's so I could get a pan under the drain hole.) Anyway, I HATE mine. I had to put it on 61 for a 10x10 room.

Kind of subjective, but any unit with an AC driven compressor will be a bit noisy. If you're looking for really quiet, search for an inverter powered one.

I know this is a year ago, but mine has a vent in the front that you are supposed to manually open. They don't mention that at all in the instructions, and I saw a few videos that made it look like the vent opened automatically (it doesn't). The main part of my 53 English section of the booklet is more worried about wifi than the nuts and bolts of operation.

I just ordered one but I see that there's a digital temperature setting on the top. Maybe when it achieves that temperature it has an auto shut off until the temperature of the room raises again. At least that's how the Black+Decker space heater works that I have.
