I can’t recommend this knife at the price tag they put on it!

Appreciate your thoughts. My knives are not for everyone it seams.😁 Perhaps it takes some time to understand the versatility of a compound grind and the benefits of the AEB-L steel. I have an entire playlist that compares my AEB-L to other steels as well as the versatility of a compound grind and why I prefer it. As for as the price, well that is a personal thing. Handmade appeals to some but not to others. Wish you well and hope you continue to use the knife and see if your opinion changes. You have a wonderful friend to gift you such a gift.

My friend, your like a breath of fresh air. Most bush crafters think you can survive better if you have a six hundred dollar knife over a twenty dollar knife. That’s what the bushcraft world teaches. The only thing I can get out of a scandi grind on a knife, it’s like a axe, made for splitting wood. A flat or saber cuts a whole lot better. I think you proved with out a shadow of doubt, that the chisel grind works better. Your a man who teaches what he lives. You take care and really enjoy your videos.

Ohhh and to address the wire edge, I am as surprised as you. As one man shop and shipping around 1,000 blades a year I suppose one slipped by. Sorry for the issue. These models are sent to a dealer so not sure what happens to them once they leave my shop. But yes I expect any knife to come razor sharp….although there are different razor sharpness. I prefer a course edge so my knives are shipped with a course edge. A courser edge last longer than a polished edge in my experience. But the wire edge shouldn’t have been there so I apologize.

@@jimbriggs3065 good to know. Hard to tell in the video but that handle material looks to be a premium grade wood so that could explain the price. There are some with standard micarta that may be a little cheaper but again it is a handmade product so there is a different price range for that. Enjoy the knife!

A lot of wisdom and truth in this video. I would say the majority of guides and serious outdoorsmen I know actually prefer simple practical knives, often made of Carbon steel. Even in commercial operations - fish and cattle - where knives are in constant use the blades are of common steel and design. The first Elk I ever saw quartered was done entirely with a slip-joint pocket knife. To this day I don't think I've seen it done better regardless of the knife used.

Even more wisdom and truth in the last sentence of your comment mate! A subpar knife in an experienced hand is brilliant no matter the steel, the size or the shape. We need to find a campfire in the not too distant future. Cheers!!!

A buddy of mine is a professional hunter. He is shooting dozens of (pest) deer per week and butchering some of them. He has been doing it for over 30 years. He uses simple butchers knives (either boning knives or skinning knives) made out of soft stainless steel. He keeps them razor sharp with his steel. When I proudly talk about my Fallkniven he looks at me kinda funny. Other professional trappers here (New Zealand) use folding Mercator knives. I think those ones are made in Germany but retail here for about $100 - high carbon steel

Too right mate. I really do like the little knife. It’s very well made and in particular I love the handle. I do think it’s overpriced and I’m sure the little black hat on the side of it has something to do with that. I’ll keep using it and perhaps I’ll change my mind. Coming outta the Alaskan bush I’m afraid I’m a bit behind the times. Cheers!!!

High carbon is the only way to go, especially if striking a ferrocium rod for fire making. $325 is crazy for a blade that's not perfect, the maker would definitely hear from me. Stay safe

Nice little knife but I’m thinking $325 is crazy even if that knife was perfect. The maker did apologize for the burr and was quite a gentleman to talk to. High carbon will always be king in my book. Cheers mate!!!

Its always good when you find like minded people. I personally believe the knife companies are getting ridiculous. Personally i use budget knives. Mostly because i haven't found a expensive knife that does more to equal the price. They make promises but i believe they are made by fanboys and collectors that never use anything they just repeat marketing slang. Nice video

Well said mate! I quite like the little knife but that’s an insane amount of money for a knife, especially when a $20 knife preforms just as good and better in a lot of areas. Perhaps I’m living in the past and too outta touch or, just getting cranky in my old age. I appreciate your comment mate! Cheers!!!

Who are you and what have you done to my pal?!! That is a mighty gift you have there, though speaking personally I have never gone much on multi-grinds. Carbon is king - absolutely though I own quite a number of stainless knives and find them excellent. I find knives, like so many other things benefit from time and use and I have had plenty where initial enthusiasm has waned and others where early indifference has blossomed into real enthusiasm. I guess if it fits in the hand and it keeps an edge and it doesn't make you wretch to look at it, any knife will do. Although if that were really the case explain to me why I have a drawer full of the beggars.

I’m not sure who’s in the mirror but the razor’s now in the rubbish bin. It really is a lovely little knife and I quite like the feel and how it handles. My problem with it is the price tag. Over $325 is absolutely ridiculous! I’ll knock the burr off it and keep using it but no way could I ever justify paying that much money for a knife when I can get a dandy for under $30. Maybe I’m getting too particular and cranky in my old age or the lack of facial hair is affecting my overall attitude. Cheers mate!!!

True mate. I actually quite like the knife. My issue with this little fella isn’t the craftsmanship or quality of the knife, it is primarily the price tag and trying to pass it off as the ultimate bushcraft knife which has little to do with WC knives themselves. I had a good conversation with William Collins. He is both a gentleman and an awesome craftsman. Cheers!!!

Hey brother. 'Great to hear from you. How is Mimi doin' with the transition? Hope she is OK. I have a Svord Peasent knife I have used for years. I modified it and made a fixed blade out of it. It and my trap spring knife I made are my most carried, even though I have more expensive knives. I have an older Condor Hudson Bay I modified when I need a heavy knife. I am with you. Too many gimicky knives, especially in the bushcraft brotherhood, sisterhood, chooseyourownpronounhood!😵‍💫🤣If you still want me to make a knife for you I can share my address with you so that you do not have to put your info on here and you can write me about it. unless you have an e-mail you want me to communicate on. If not it is OK either way, brother. Have a blessed day, my friend.
