I listened to this all the way to Disneyland when I was 4. When we checked into our hotel and everyone was getting ready to go explore Disneyland- I simply sat on the bed and started it again. Real men listen to The Black Hole- they don’t waste their time with Disneyland.

Having just watched the movie, this barely even resembles it. They completely cut Harry and Alex, the destruction of the Palomino, Kate's near-lobotomy, and removed any personality from the cast. Oh, and the scene with the meteor chasing the crew across the bridge was mirrored. I know they had very little run time on the record, but yikes! I grew up with this record, but wow, it's very very inaccurate. 😂 Edit: Thanks for uploading, I'm glad I could hear this again!

I actually think it's better than the movie, even though the deaths are removed and Maximilian isn't as scary. The narrator did an amazing job! The special effects also hold up a lot better as still pictures and it leaves more up to the imagination. As a kid, I really loved the shot of the sentries getting blown to pieces and assumed the movie must have looked amazing. Unfortunately, I was disappointed several years later when I caught it on TV.

I had the full-LP version of this, which was not only longer but had the actual cast’s voices and the actual lines from the movie. How odd that they re-recorded it. (Assuming this isn’t just speed adjustment to avoid a strike.) maybe they couldn’t come up with a short enough edit of the actual soundtrack.

I used to love Disney as a child, timeless classics like Snow White, Fantasia, and masterpieces like Old Yeller. And this movie, a merge of timeless elegance and sci fi together. But now Disney is heading for a "black hole" of it's own doing. With one of the worst slaps in the faces of Star Wars fans with The Last Jedi (should have named it Social Justice Wars, Rise of the Snowflake) and it's political agenda seeking properties, it's no wonder Disney cancelled the reboot of The Black Hole. Probably for the best, I couldn't imagine how much powerful characters like Max Schell would be hacked up to insure Political Correctness.

@@T.R.R.Jolkien I actuall have fun rewatching Rogue One and Solo. Yeh stopped with Last Jedi on the latest Star Wars trilogy. Marvel movies have been a lot of fun. Some could have been better but so many of those movies have been amazing. All that said, Disney has their own creations like Tron, John Carter, and The Black Hole... might be fun to revisit those when they need to take a breather from the Marvel/Star Wars lines.

@@T.R.R.Jolkien Ha, didn't notice that, I am a bit "color blind". I just knew that Tarkin was originally white (and love what they did recreating him) and Krennic was just well played. Don't worry though, there are plenty of other times for "non-whites" to play the bad guy in the Star Wars universe, such as Gideon in the Mandalorian. That actor does a great job of making a villain I just want to reach through the screen and punch. :D
