I'm would wager that smiling is one of the things you can train a monkey to do on command. It could very well have just had the trainer off camera giving him the cue. He is looking ahead, slightly to the side of the camera at that point. Or that could have been CGI, his head twists a little weirdly in that moment.

For a GBA to a Movie it was pretty dam involved interms of mechanics and details.

They don’t forget that they’re immortal- that’s why they continue to fight like beasts- but they DO get blown up by cannon fire. Explosions are probably their worst weaknesses to being undead. Remember when Will placed bombs inside one of Barbossa’s crew when they went out of the sunlight? I think that damaged him good enough to where he couldn’t exactly return to normal. And the cannon balls themselves can rip barbossa’s men to shreds. And also falling into the water- I don’t think they can swim. So they just sink to the bottom.

I always wondered how she kept coming up with random nautical knowledge, though, like thinking about the two ship's draft and throwing the anchor to pit the Interceptor around. At this point in her life she'd been a ship as a child coming from England and that was it. I think I remember her saying she read about pirates or something but that's a far cry from knowing what to do on a ship during a combat situation.

And probably from some of the domestic help as well. If they used any kind of nautical terms or mentioned any kind of maneuvers, she no doubt asked what they meant. So she was already learned in the ways of sailing for the most part.

It was already a very well known nautical phrase used in pretty much every pirate text. This was also back before they planned franchises in advance.

Barbossa is very annoying with the whole captain thing, Jack died with the Black Pearl, he went to Davy Jones Locker with it, he even killed Barbossa and took the ship back, AND Davy Jones said it was his ship the whole time.

To be fair it is a mythical pirate ship raised from the depths by davy Jones himself that has unnatural speed and is crewed by immortal pirates, not sure the English had that in mind when building a pirate hunting ship. They also probably expected it to be crewed by an actual well trained and well supplied crew of English soldiers when they took it pirate hunting, not crewed by a small crew of thieves that didn't even have cannon balls and where shooting forks at people

Or they could have tried picking up bootstrap from the bottom of the sea. In the second pirates he reveals that after he sunk with the cannon tied to him, he could not move or die. There is always a way to break the curse because everyone who partook of those coins directly from the chest would be undead and thr coins called to those undead. Technically speaking bootstrap had two active curses (the dutchman and the skeleton one) both at the same time.

This whole scene is literally just to show off how strong the undead pirate. But then at the end of the movie they got ultimately defeated by their own desire to be alive again. And the last fight scene is not a fancy battle at all, but it shows how clever Capt. Jack Sparrow is.

@@mikachan9541 But my point still stands though. The battle scenes would have been a lot more entertaining if it wasn't impossible for one side to lose. Also I really hated how the pirates simply gave up when they lost their invincibility in the final fight. Like come on, just because they aren't invincible anymore doesn't mean they would stop fighting. They had already killed a lot of British sailors, so maybe they still could have won. Plus they knew as much as anyone that the penalty for piracy is death, so it's not like they had anything to gain from surrendering.

@@TheStapleGunKid Yes, it's such a no sense battle, especially because Elzabeth knew they couldn't die, it's like she forgot to tell'em. She even suggest that they could run tru shallow waters (what would make a lot of sense since the ship was small enough for it) but then Elizabeth is the one who suggest to drop the anchor so they could fight (??) Girl, you should had kept the shallow water plan. About the final battle with the british: Maybe the only sense is that the whole british soldiers were holding guns, while the pirates were holding only knifes and swords, but still you are right, the pirates had killed a lot of men, so they could risk their lives in order to win the battle since they all would die being hanged anyway. I think they got chocked by the curse's end all of a sudden during the battle, especially because they were so used to not get killed that they simply chocked as the coward they always were
