Everywhere you look on mainstream media, you will see statements made about what occurred on September 16, 2007, in Nisour Square. This event is often referred to as the Blackwater Massacre. The men of Raven 23 on that day-Nicholas Slatten, Paul Slough, Evan Liberty, and Dustin Heard-were wrongly accused and vilified for their actions and spent time in prison until they were later pardoned by President Trump in 2020. What you don't hear is the real story from the men themselves and the founder of Blackwater, Erik Prince. Footage was nowhere to be found and many other things that would have justified the actions of Raven 23 after they were being fired upon by enemy forces. This is a mashup from the men of Raven 23 (SRS EP. 011) and the founder of Blackwater, Erik Prince (SRS EP. 029).

Sir. Do you really expect the people to believe this story, even though we have VIDEO evidence of the massacre? What about every civilian and police/military that told the exact same story from multiple locations just after? These guys are trigger happy yahoos, and the only good thing to come out of this whole affair was that they were NOT uniformed members of the armed services. The dishonor they would have brought to the real fighters in uniform would be too much. Imagine this happening to innocent American men, women, children and elderly? And everyone in the loop knows that these clowns shot randomly, and at the time they were not under fire from anyone. Even if they were feeling nervous about _perceived_ eminent contact is not an excuse to engage random targets. I don't even buy the story that they felt a threat. All a case of cowardly men itching to play a round of COD firing on civilians. Trump made a mistake pardoning these guys.

In Mosul my sniper team observed Iraqi police place what looked like an IED. We called it in. One of our Strykers came by to check the area with thermals. Said they couldn't find anything. After our guys left ING drove past our hide. Backed up dismounted and came looking for us in the junkyard we were in. We got small. They were within 10f ft of us. It looked like they knew someone called in about our report. We got picked up thinking we were comprised. Next day IED went off right where we said it was. I'd rather be in a fire fight then go through that again.

I participated and lot of AR platform matches. Successfully. But do not think for one second I think of myself as what you guys do. My hat is off to you guys as I have mad respect for those who fought for our country in this military. A lot of my family did. From the Civil War up until modern times. How exactly do I become a patreon member? Keep It Coming Sean, you keep it as real as anybody. I'm mesmerised at night before I turn in for the night to listen to these. I agree with everything you say, but what benefit did America get from the war in Iraq? Thousands of soldiers killed and injured and what happened in the end? ISIS took over from Sadam Hussein. That's a severe military failure by any metric. The same thing happened in Afghanistan - the Taliban are now back in charge - and Libya - now it's a completely destroyed country full of Islamic insurgents. It's a shame such brave men fought and died on middle Eastern and African soil and twenty years later, all three countries are probably a bigger threat to the US than they were before.

My mortar platoon had a gun at the Bayji CMIC (formerly the police station) in 2003. We worked with the IP quite a bit but were certainly aware that some of them were on the other team. It doesn't surprise me too much that that issue continued and grew later on. Iraq was a mess with all the internal factions and politics from the start of OIF. Oh, and some imported foreign fighters just in case it wasn't enough of a clusterfuck.

My Friend Don was Part of that Black Water Convoy. In the U.S., we ( his family and myself) recieved a call around 1.a.m. telling us that they've been restricted to base. That he's o.k. and alive, but there's been a serious incident that he could not tell us about, but that we'd find out on the News in the following days. He eventually told me of the story. He fought for his life both that day for nearly a decade in court after the fact. At the time of this engagement there was a sort of grey area regarding contractors and rules of engagement In following years successful prosecutions against the 1st contractors for violating rules of engagement occurred. The 1st one being a British contractor and was charged with murder. Because of the length of time since the incident, the D.O.J. kept trying to prosecute Don - which would have been a life sentence. He ultimately was free from all charges. Thank God all of you guys made it home.
@aposyl7110
@aposyl7110 Жыл бұрын
@KNO BODY so were you at the square that day? If you look back at the time of that incident there were a Murky area in which the D.O.J. utilized Contractors. Their thinking being that these "Aren't" soldiers the rules of engagement don't apply to them. Hence what you clearly and probably most accurately term heavy trigger fingers. Mr. Prince and Black Water definitely were cruising the line. But up until that incident from what im aware of ZERO contractors were ever convicted for how they showed up in the field. It was a few years after this when prosecuting contractors actually started happening and the Rules which Conducted themselves could be a jailable offence. This was the problem. The D.O.J. wanted to convict those 5 young men as of they were soldiers. They were not. That was the Rub and hence there 10 year court battle. The rules or lack of them did indeed cause that heavy trigger action. And also why soo many Americans were pissed there Mr. Prince Even got that contract for Black. He was 1 of 5 guys who were charged out of that entire convoy. The details those events have never been properly been shared with the public. I could be wrong, it's been many years now. If your aware of more detailed reports of the actual incident I'd love to read it.

I don’t think their story, assuming told truthfully, necessarily painted the full picture that they didn’t smoke anybody innocent. To me it sounded like they were in a situation that they perceived dangerous and hostile and they reacted to what they felt. Could still be for some reason if was a total mix up but once weapons go hot it’s just a chain reaction.

Edit: should add that I’m a big fan of this channel and that I think there’s value in giving these guys a chance to tell their stories, regardless of what your views on the matter are. A lot of focus on what their mindset was and why they thought the KIA was a VBIED. But only vague references to “engaging” targets after that (“after that” being the killing of 15 civilians and wounding of 20). They were scared. Which I understand. But that said, they were getting paid a ton of money to be in these types of situations - ostensibly because they would be able to use their judgment and discretion to accurately assess a threat (or lack thereof). I’ve seen former operators with big channels talk about how these contractors had relatively little military experience, and chalk it up to Blackwater putting inexperienced men into the field in an effort to meet the government’s huge demand for contractors. They panicked and started to spray and pray. It’s a shame they don’t express at least some level of remorse or regret for what they did. Especially since they were pardoned (the idea being that there’s no further legal action that can be taken against them). Even just something like: “listen, I was scared shitless and I decided that it was either me, or them. I did what I felt I had to do, and I really regret that so many civilians died as a result. But I did what countless others would have done in the same situation.”

I was in Baghdad in 06-07, when this happened. I didn’t here much about it then, we were still pretty busy and it was a blip on an intel brief one day. After hearing their stories, I totally believe that the IP’s and even the ING ambushed them. Had some buddies kill two IP’s emplacing an EFP at 2 in the morning at checkpoint 543, the intersection of the Qadisiyyah highway, airport road, and highway 8 running south. Next to that giant Sunni mosque. Our Charlie company had an IED blow up within 75 meters of an IP checkpoint. We rescued a Sunni women from getting gang raped at an IP station. Most of them were in the Mahdi militia. If this would have been American soldiers that fired all the shots instead, they would have never so much as received a counseling statement….

My brother was 88 mike in army and if I’m not mistaken it was transportation that he did. Super dangerous depending where you were at, I was pretty young at the time and my parents kept me as separate from it as they could but a little over a year after he got out he killed himself. I can only imagine what is going on with these guys in private. Idk how they can talk about it. My brother was a ghost when he came home. I woke up one night to him in the fetal position in the middle of my room on the floor whimpering, and then he’d disappear for weeks at a time and go on benders, I think he would just live out of his truck for the periods of time he was gone or couch hop, cause I would find out afterwards from people.

I watched the entire video. They did not present any adequate defense of their crimes. These guys got American soldiers killed. They served the enemy more than they ever served our country. Four of blackwater's own guards who were witnesses there said the shootings were unjustified. One blackwater guard wouldn't stop firing his weapon until one of his colleagues aimed a gun at him and threatened to shoot him.The blackwater guards had stopped traffic and the white kia was a medical school student and his mom driving around traffic to try to get to school. The guards shot him dead and the car continued to roll forward. A Iraqi police officer went to the car to try to help the passengers. The guards shot dead the police officer. Then the rest of the Iraqi police responded with gunfire against the guards. Against armored and heavy armed blackwater vehicles, outgunned Iraqi police tried to stop a massacre. After the shooting ended, Iraqi army actually showed up and detained one of the Blackwater vehicles and then released them after the American army showed up. The only way anyone could defend these men is if they chose to (for dumb politics) just ignore and not research any of the evidence of these men's crimes. These men got Americans killed.

I was at Ibn Sina hospital the 7 months prior this incident and had redeployment the week before. These guys were alot younger and had notorious reputation for being trigger happy. No mention of total civilian casualties. I was in charge of the trauma units and we saw the Blackwater collateral repeatedly. Fog of war does not replace fire discipline. Doctors, Nurse and even the Hospital Command Center have ZERO clue about anything isn’t he OSF or Contractor world. Hell they can’t even wear their beret correctly without it looking like a pizza hat. Just because somebody says something was fro Blackwater doesn’t mean it in fact was. Politicians and ignorant civilians will never understand that war is an atrocity and that when there is war there will be shooting and collateral damage. I am convinced that Blackwater and it’s personnel did nothing wrong. Their ONLY mistake (saying that knowing full well that there will always be mistakes made in war time operations but they are the norm) was thinking that the government had their back. Blackwater was hired to do things the government didn’t want to have to explain and justify up the chain in order to get done and weigh down with bureaucracy. Blackwater could do what had to be done without the insanity of microscopic pencil pushers and bean counters. But they should have known they’d be thrown under the bus if it was politically advantageous or expedient. We saw it with the Navy A6 v gondola incident and many others… and those were active duty. Anything to save their pathetic desk jobs and power.
