If you have followed me on Instagram for a while, chances are you have heard me refer to my "Block Schedule System" many times. The Block Schedule System is something I made up years ago that has increased my productivity by 10-fold (or more!) and is hands-down one of the most useful, viral, and effective principles I share in all of my ProductivityBootCamp.com program (psst use the code KZfaq for 10% off!). It not only helps you get more done in a day WITHOUT burnout, helps with time management, and makes your home insanely stress-free, but will also magically free up HOURS of time for you to fill with things that fulfill you most, and you never feel like you have time for! Note: Watch the whole video! I promise it will answer most of your questions!

Pro tip for all my creatives out there (writers, artists, ect.) DON'T DO YOUR MOST CREATIVE TASKS CLOSE TO BED! You'll either be so tired that you won't be able to do anything or you'll get a burst of creativity halfway through and won't be able to stop to fall asleep. Organize your blocks by energy level helps too!

Same with audiobooks. I'm in a book club and sometimes I have time to sit and get the book read off the page or off my ereader screen, and sometimes I just don't. Welcome to audio books! I can listen to them at the gym or while I clean and cook and I almost always listen to them with the speed turned up to 1.25-1.5. Audiobooks are not "cheating" people!

I started following your idea of block scheduling at the beginning of summer. I was taking 2 online classes, starting a part time job and having my son home from school all summer. I know I function A LOT better when I have a set schedule. You said something like, "I have 5 kids and 24 hours in a day - I didn't get more time with each child. I had to make it all fit." That hit me like a ton of bricks, I knew I could increase my productivity if I could stick to a plan. So I gave it a go. I blocked out my school time, home chores, kiddo activities, date with hubby time, work - I laid it all out. First semester I made the Dean's List because I think I was actually giving myself proper study time!!! So I'm sold. Now that the Fall semester is here things are changing and I'm drafting a new schedule but I'm LOVING the Block Schedule Life. Have a beautiful day darlin'.

I have just started block scheduling and I have to say that I love it. I just have to remind people: if you don’t get your blocks right on day one and two, IT’S OK. THIS IS A NEW SYSTEM, GIVE YOURSELF SOME GRACE SO YOU CAN LEARN. Right? Right. I myself am a chronic ‘plate bigger than my mouth’ person. “YES I CAN DO THIS IN 3 HOURS!” usually turns into ‘crap I did this in like, 7 hours. It’s ok. Time only feels like it’s running once your’e studying how it moves.

Ahh I used block scheduling to get through a semester of 26 credits in college 😂😂😂 alarms for EVERYTHING and got 8 hours of sleep every night, showered every day, didn't skip meals, and got decent grades. Some of my (favorite) classes I totally excelled. But it was really exhausting! I totally forgot about the whole block scheduling system until now. Maybe now, years later, I could still utilize some of that with my current, calmer schedule 😂

Super late but I tried this on Thanksgiving this year. I work NOC shift (nursing) and it is so hard to organize life because my sleep pattern is the complete opposite of the world lol. But I tried this method starting my blocks 3,2,1 hour blocks excluding sleep. It really did wonders that day. This would be a wonderful app if it was created. My most important block was "self care and sleep". Trying to master it for night shift workers and it's possible you guys. I got sleep, I was able to block out time for family, cook, clean, and run an errand. Everybody has a different life and schedule you have to customize it for You. Be blessed.

I have been teaching this concept of block scheduling for several years. It is particularly helpful for those with mood disorders and struggle to get things done. Though I tend to set it up with less blocks and have a person identify key tasks to meet during at least two of the three blocks. As they begin to master that, we increase. But key is consistency. So set it up, as morning, afternoon, and evening. I even have people set timers for these. What I do like about this is how detailed and another way to share how to work this sort of schedule.

This is what I started doing for myself, getting the block schedule system from Jordan. With me being in college, and working at the college, my work schedule for the entire semester is pretty much the same, which is nice! So it made more sense for me to section it off in Morning, Afternoon, and Evening blocks, but since I take an online course as well. I wanted to dedicate specific time to work on that class each day, so that's like my class time. But for the rest of the block time, I have on a separate sheet that shows what I can do in each block. Pretty much the same thing as Jordan's part. It definitely doesn't feel as overwhelming as it was before, which is nice!

I've been doing this type of method for months now. I didn't realize it was the block method. Basically, I would forget to eat, homeschooling was all over the place, chores were never completed and we were eating dinner so close to bedtime. So I started setting alarms in my phone to wake up and "morning routine " and "class time" and "lunch" and "room of the day " and then we have actual routine charts that we can refer to when the alarm sounds and we can mark tasks off with a dry erase marker. So basically the same concept as the block method.

Oh my! Yes, yes I do! I hate it. I have also disliked words like goals, timers, block 'schedule'. Instead I made mine super personal and instead of using goals I say objective (I feel like that give me a little more leeway for error which is humanly okay), instead of timer I use the word 'sound' and I use a relaxing sound to help me feel like I'm not being rushed, Instead of schedule I use the word 'method'. I have 7 'methods' in my day: Morning Method (get ready etc...), Moving Method (Out the door doing errands, etc...), Meditation Method (Nap, make and prepare food...etc...), Money Method (Work), Missionary Method (Doing service for others and my husband, making sure the house is cleaned up, etc...), Melt Method (Phone time and Husband time!), and Sleep (Don't add the word method on the end of this because I'm not doing anything but resting which is important to seperate that out in our minds because then we can 'shut our minds off' a lot easier."

It got so bad it became part of my anxiety disorder along with avoiding phone calls because of the ring and post office for the bad letters. Now that I can buy online it’s made going to the POB about blessings or good things, now we can change the ring tone. That helped a lot. And for alarms too. Now that I can have good alarms for things that are stress free like water the plants. Over time it helped me get that alarm scare a bit normalized. But for a long time it caused emotional pain during a period where I was sick but still had to work.

Tara Hays hahaha! Seriously! I love your comment! :) I get 1 of two responses on a typical day. One: they ask me more questions are genuinely interested or feel it could help them. Two: I get a weird look and a reply, “That sounds interesting.” I’ve heard that the using the word “interesting” is a way of not offending people even if your not genuinely interested 😂. I only let the complete empathetic Kate show up around close friends and family members who understand me as a person because I can sense even the tiniest things that are off. I go to a handful or practitioners for my back, health, etc...and they all say that I am super sensitive and that is a good thing because most of the general population isn’t and will have more health problems in the future! But it is sooooo important for us to share what we are sensing or empathizing about because in the small cases where people listen it genuinely can change the course of their life. It’s amazing. Is this how you are like or that you’ve noticed?? What’s your experience been like? ☀️🤗

Kate Mind Skills I’ve noticed the older I get (and now being a mom) I try and reserve my real empathetic side for family. It’s takes a lot of emotional strength to work with the public and have a hubby and toddler. So I guess I don’t share what I’m sensing much and have tried not to in recent years. I’ve gotten farther professionally taking this route, and focusing healing on myself and family. It’s all seasons though and that may change again sometime:) you sound like you know yourself that’s awesome!💜

Love love LOVE! I sort of already do a “block” system and I can testify that it’s AMAZING! I’m not nearly as busy as most people though but it’s works great for me because I really do get overwhelmed when there’s too much going on and lack of schedule is out of control. I have morning routines, house cleaning play dates and outing tasks while my oldest is in school (still have a little one at home) then after school routine and evening routine. Once kids are in bed, I’m am clocked out and it’s grown up time with my man. It’s an absolute must. This was very informative and helpful though, knowing that my boys will be so much busier soon when we start sports and such and even when we get a bigger home someday (we’re in a small home so it’s doesn’t take long to clean 🙌🏻) Thank you Jordan! ❤️

I’ve had a block system for years to manage all my daily goals. I love it! And i was so relieved you made a vid on it because you have the platform to do it in & show people this schedule. 👍🏻👍🏻. The hour bit just doesnt work & it only adds more stress (counter-productive!). Using the blocks, we TOTALLY get more done and actually feel accomplished ✅

I just had my 6th child two weeks ago and I have been wondering how I am going to do it all. I first found your laundry video and I was so excited to find another mom that had 5 kids all close together like I did! Next I watched your 'envelope budget' video and couldn't believe how much I could relate to you on other budgets I have tried to stick with before. Yours is the only one i have been able to actually stick to. Now that school started and I have a brand new baby your block schedule video comes out! I feel like you are Heaven Sent... special for me 😁 you are very inspiring and I am ready to turn my messy, unorganized life around. Thank you!!! Love another Utah momma!

I have come to the conclusion that I get only the necessities done on work days....nights included. I am so physically and mentally done...that is so great you get exercise in there! I cram all the errand type things and laundry in my 1st day off since they are easier on my side back. The 2nd day I do more cleaning in am and meal prep for the next 3 days of work coming. I get what I can done and relax that evening before work. I've accepted some dust but the kiddos are fed and happy!

Yes but you know the video was edited, right? When editing a video you have a chance to redo whatever you want, or splice in something, like when she was laying on the couch. That was edited in while she was talking so the audio and the video were combined in that part of this video. Editing makes videos/movies look and sound professional.

Exactly what I’ve been looking for! I’m a newly homeschooling mom of two and I’m always going to bed thinking “there’s never enough time!” I’ve often wondered what changed between high school and graduating college that made me feel so crazy....adulthood is one half of the equation but the block schedule makes complete sense! I literally told my husband last night that I feel like I never get anything fully done because I run from task to task getting everything halfway done. If I’m working on one task I feel guilty for not working on the other. I wanted to find a way to just focus on one thing at a time but hourly schedules never seemed to work. Life can be very overwhelming sometimes and makes some people want to hide and disassociate from life. I've been there. Choosing to put yourself out there and pursue something you know deep down inside you'd like to do would probably help you feel a lot better. Maybe sign up to take some classes at a yoga studio, or volunteer at the humane society or find a very part time easygoing job. You can improve your life! But you have to choose to do it. Small steps are all it takes.

I've been struggling with depression and anxiety as well and it can be very hard to even find the mental strength to get up and do this stuff, even making a schedule. I did the short specific blocks before too, and it overwhelmed me so much that I didn't get done pretty much any of the stuff I wanted to get done.. What I'm doing now is Morning, Afternoon, and Evening blocks, there's a lot more detail that went into what I'm starting to do, if I can I'd love to share it with you. It just would be a lot for a comment on here lol. But after switching to doing these 3 blocks, even though I may not be consistent with it yet, just knowing my day is divided up like that takes away the feeling of being overwhelmed.

I dont have children and I'm not married but I do work full time, and have to manage a household, and tend to other family responsibilities. Single people sometimes have it harder than people think because they have no one to delegate tasks or to share chores with. This method of organization is very helpful. I find myself to be more productive managing my to do list in small blocks. It doesnt become overwhelming and it makes big and competing tasks manageable.
