Writer and academic Amitava Kumar’s latest, The Blue Book, is an intimate diary submerged in watercolours and words, a look into his artistic response to our present times. A fascinating amalgamation of the personal and political, this writer's journal presents a panoramic portrait, both intimate and public, as a means to a recorded history of our times. In conversation with journalist and news anchor, Ravish Kumar.
Amitava Kumar is the author of several books of nonfiction and three novels. His latest title is a collection of drawings and diary entries, The Blue Book: A Writer's Journal. Kumar's work has appeared in Granta, The New York Times, Harper’s, and several other publications. He has been awarded a Guggenheim fellowship and residencies from Yaddo, MacDowell, and the Lannan Foundation. His novel Immigrant, Montana was on the best of the year lists at The New Yorker, The New York Times, and President Obama’s list of favourite books of 2018. His new novel is A Time Outside This Time.
Ravish Kumar is an Indian journalist, author and media personality. He is the author of two published works, The Free Voice in English and Ishq Mein Sheher Hona in Hindi. The Free Voice has been translated into Hindi, Marathi, Kannada and Nepali. Kumar was awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award for 'giving voice to the voiceless'.

Such a refreshing and liberating conversation! The pride in theirs roots is infectious. This feeling is akin to when one reads Roots 3 decades back and identify himself with Kunta Kinte!!

Two open batters are in the ground of words ... Why Art , Literature and Author required rules and regulations ,kya ye sabdo ko janjeer bandhne ki koshish nahi hai? Vission , experience, information,feels ,words in right place , right time...then magic is now forever... Books, Books , Books, language related to inner world... Real touch of freeness, tone are feeling level... Not to carry the ...no need to footage ... Thought process is traveling in all levels... Author and readers live-in words... Har ek kitab mein kuch gupt sutre hote hai ,jinke baare mein lekhak ko bhi pat hota nahi hota... Nice traveling with both of you...

अमिताव कुमार के वे साथी जयंत सिन्हा हैं। बहुत अच्छी बातचीत, साहित्यिक बातचीत होते हुए भी पूरी तरह साहित्यिक नहीं रही, अपने वितान को विस्तार देती रही। रविश जी को इस तरह की बातचीत जारी रखनी चाहिए जिनकी रचनाओं को वे प्रमुखता से पढ़ते हैं उनके साथ
