Read, 44, of Mansfield, has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder and other charges. The prosecution says she hit O'Keefe with her black SUV outside of a home at 34 Fairview Road in Canton during a snowstorm on Jan. 29, 2022, following a night of drinking. Her defense plan argue that someone else is responsible for killing O'Keefe.

Im really disappointed in your rushing to make this with a terrible source, knowing nothing about her medical condition, and insulting her voice and botox a day after the Proctor texts. After watching the whole trial so far, I think Chase is spot on. To me the thing that points to her innocence the most is that she said so many things the morning she found him that nobody would ever say if they actually hit him with the car. She kept asking if she could have hit him, she willingly told the paramedics that she had been drinking the night before and that they had had a fight that night. Her behavior that morning was of someone who was freaking out and said too much without worrying about being charged with murder.

It’s a simple no-brainer! She dropped her bf on and he never came home. She called manipulator Jenn McCarbe who said he never came in then, suggested she was too drunk to drive. Bam, Karen’s spinning hungover mind is trying to make sense out of the non-sensical. Then add creepy Jenn’s gas-lighting mental feed leading her around town looking for him. They can’t even prove she was DUI because the tab doesn’t add up to the amount of drinks they were counting, know what was in those shot glasses or even know if she went home and had a few more when she went home upset that John was not returning her calls. I don’t know a woman who wouldn’t be ticked-off if their significant other chose to go to a house party with their cronies rather than coming home with them after a night out.

A couple of corrections. She did not back into her own car. She backed into John O’Keefe’s vehicle with her vehicle. Also, the reason that she canvassed the neighborhood is the following. She contacted two of her “friends”. One who was at the party and told them John was not home. She asked if they would go with her to look for John. Jenn McCabe, one of the “Friends” that she called suggested that they do this “canvassing” of the neighborhood, before going to the party house. Jenn told her to come to her house and then once Karen got there, said let’s first go back to John’s house (where she just came from) to look further for him there. Jenn McCabe was the one who encouraged her to go on this wild goose chase looking for him. There are theories about why Jenn did this, which is another story. (In short, the theory is that Jenn was heavily involved in the cover up).

@jackiek412 - Can't agree more with your comment. You know, although people can hide stuff, and do things in the dark, blame other people for what they did, hoping to get away with whatever they did. They sometimes actually succeed. But they must also remember, everything they did in the dark, all the evil plans they made behind closed doors, as secretive as they thought they could be, GOD WAS THE SILENT WITNESS , so hide, lie, conspire, all you want, HE KNOWS WHAT YOU DID, there is no hiding from HIM

I believe they’re all covering for Colin. Karen is innocent. How can Allie McCabe testify “Colin was not there when John was there”? That implies John was in fact there. Its the Canton good ole boys club. I grew up not far from there, have family there, this is a complete coverup. I think Jen was banking on Karen’s drunkenness and gaslit her into thinking she could have done it. And Jen’s Google search at 2:37 AM “how long to die in the cold” …he wasn’t found until four hours later. I don’t buy that an open tab could’ve kept the search time on that when she googled it again around 6:30am and spelling it wrong. It’s really interesting reading all the different takes on the trial, I just don’t believe she did this.

Let's not forget that Karen has been on the defensive side. For 18 months! She feels that everyone except her family and her defense team are against her. She feels that Canton police and the MSP are covering this up against her when they should be neutral and professional. She's hurt, angry, and John is gone. Whether they were breaking up or not, she didn't want him dead. Her LIBERTY IS AT STAKE, not to mention her reputation. I have been in her place, although not regarding murder. I was angry and spoke angrily for a long time. I don't blame her for being angry and negative at all! Also, remember Karen has Multiple Sclerosis. It affects her muscles. Karen’s personality and mannerisms come across as classic Massachusetts. Assertive, intense, loud, etc. Mark pointed out her negative phrasing, “hard pressed to find anyone that didn’t care for John.” I think this is also pretty common in this region. Saying something positive or giving a compliment that is couched in negative framing so that the listener doesn’t think you are blowing smoke-basically the opposite of the Southern phrase, “bless your heart.”

So many things from watching the trial. 1. The last place she looked was where she dropped him off. Of course, because that's where she found him, so she stopped looking. 2. She mentioned the tailight lenses because the state said she hit him and they found over 40 pieces of tailight for weeks. Others say she cracked the lens backing up her car into John's, and there was a small piece missing. The pieces showed up only after the state seized her car. 3. She jumped on the fact she saw him right away because Jenn McCabe said she saw him right away because she knew where she hit him, but she just looked in the general area she dropped him off. 4. The state says pieces of glass were on her back bumper. But they were there after 100 miles of adfitional driving and being towed in a windy blizzard by the police. The state implies it was glass shards from hitting John while he was holding a glass in his hand. But guess what, when they were tested, they didn't match John's glass. 5. Everyone who saw her that night said she was not slurring words or stumbling. 6. She called John over 60 times that night. And called John's parents. The state would say that was a cover, an alibi. But to do that, she wouldn't have to call so much, 10 or 12 calls would suffice. I think she is high strung, maybe even opinionated and demanding, that doesn't make her guilty. But that could be why she goes over the top calling him. Maybe the other women didn't like her for that and the fact she had her own money.

The Trooper testifying today said John and Karen arrived at 34 Fairview at 12:24. He also said her phone connected to John's home WiFi at 12:36, therefore she was home. That sure seems to support Karen's claims here and it's also a huge problem for Lally because he claimed she hit him at 12:45, and Jen McCabe and others in the house testified to seeing Karen's SUV outside around 12:42 or so. Whoops... and this cop has been one of the most credible seeming ones Lally called in, and by far. Anyway, what Greg was talking about what he would ask if someone said that. He's always talking from the pov of an interrogator. "I didn't notice" wouldn't necessarily be a wrong answer, but he'd use that to ask further questions. And it really was a strange statement (though it cut right there, so...). I agree to, I don't notice the time either if I'm not looking at the phone for that reason.

Did you notice how far she went to back into his car, how long it took her to do it and her behavior/body language while she did it? After she hit his car, she kept driving as if nothing happened. She didn’t react or get upset or get out and check the damage. She merely turned the wheel, gave it some gas and moved the vehicle forward to exit the area. To my eyes, she had zero visible physical reaction to striking the other car. I find that odd. Also the distance she backed to to eventually hit the other car seemed like it was a long way to go-maybe it’s me 🧐

I think Scott's input is a bit off here because of lack of research. Karen Read didn't go back to the house immediately because she didn't have the address. John had used his phone to give her directions to Fairview. That's why she had to try and get ahold of one of the people who was there to find out where to go. Scott is hung-up on that and not focusing on the body language.

Mark, she cracked her taillight at exactly 5:07am in Jan 29, on the right side of John's driveway, by backing into his car. She did it because she was frantic about to go out in a storm looking for her missing boyfriend. And it's in camera. I agree with Chase on most points. I think she's guilty of driving drunk and being too drunk to remember everything, having a somewhat reactive and abrasive demeanor, and might be responsible for instigating discord (by flirting with another cop) among machos that led to a fight and John being beat up when he went in the house.

No evidence of that. Nine people testified that John never came into the house - one cop (Brian Albert), one IT guy (McCabe), their wives (who are sisters), one ATF agent (Higgins), Caitlyn Albert (~25), Brian Albert Jr (~20), and two of Brian Albert Jr.'s friends, both female (~20). And they were celebrating Brian Jr's birthday party. No evidence of being beat up. Plenty of evidence that he was hit by her car, breaking the tail light.

All you have to do is look at the autopsy pictures and report!! According to the trooper who did the accident recreation and took the stand said, "She was traveling at a speed of up to 24mph in reverse, the back side of the suv struck his arm, then spun him around and catapulted him 30ft". This is impossible. All of his injuries were from the neck up with the exception of his arm. No bruises to the ribs, stomach, legs, back, etc. The first thing the emt said when they arrived was, "it looks like he's been beat up". This is the worst corruption case I have ever seen. Not to mention the Albert's dug up their basement, got rid of the dog they had for over 4years and sold their house for 50k less than market price (after digging up concrete in basement). Brian Albert and Brian Higgins got rid of their cell phones the day before they were told to turn them over to the Feds. Everything I have mentioned is fact and been testified to.

Karen's and John's bar tab combined was not very expensive either I think it was around $52, which probably included a tip. I don't think she could have gotten the nine drinks and his one or two beers that the prosecution claims they drank for only $52.

I agree with Chase. This case was "over-charged". The worst case scenario for Karen should have been Manslaughter, i.e., she did it drunk and unintentional (even she sort of questioned this... which I think speaks to her sincerity and genuine-nature.) But -- the investigation was completely botched and there is WAY TOO MUCH reasonable doubt. No one should be convicted with this much doubt. The most critical evidence wasn't found on the first day and was apparently missed by 4 different police officers and whoever else was there. That alone creates too much doubt. Trooper Proctor is a disaster, and all the phones destroyed and unexplained "butt" dials in the early AM hours. The fact that the Cop who owns the house is a trained first responder and didn't even leave his house to see what was going on in his front yard, to a supposed friend that he invited to his house the night before. Too Bizarre. And absolutely no way this was an intentional murder. They were both out celebrating that night. The footage at the bar shows a couple very affectionate to each other. I'm interested to hear what's in the voice-messages. I'm guessing that they might be bad. If John went inside and then never texted Karen back....she might have thought he just forgot about her, got inside with friends and then just sh*t on her, by not getting back to her. She might have been pissed. I certainly would have been quite pissed off in a scenario like that.

Watched Proctor on the stand during KR trial, and it brings so much more clarity to what Karen's argument is. The lead investigator on this case perjured himself frequently on the stand, and the body language was off the charts. Hope to see that covered by the Behavior Panelists.

@@teresev1435 I think he listened to one person and ran with what she said because of close ties to his sister. It’s like, oh well, her sister is best friends with my sister so she’s truthful. It’s sad to think of a lead investigator being so close minded to searching for the truth. An officer is dead. Let’s do our very best to find out why. With the investigation so botched, we may never know exactly what happened. So sad and disrespectful to Officer O’Keefe. He deserves better and the defendant deserves better. IMO of course. Everyone has the right to believe as they wish.

@@sandramayhew4443 your assessment makes complete sense to me. I agree-this poor man. What a horrible accident. I don’t watch enough of the trial to be able to come to any conclusions, I’m gonna wait for the jury and all the evidence. If I was on the jury day and day out and I could hear all of the evidence and watch everything, I don’t even know if I could come to a conclusion after that . This case is insane. It seems like everybody knows each other and there’s animosity at every turn, so it’s hard to parse out familial loyalty, animosity and deception. More facts are needed, but the investigation doesn’t look like it went so great, in my opinion.
