21:14 - That's me! I grew up just a few minutes from that Shrine, and fun fact: St. Rose Philipine Duchesne lived there a number of years, and slept in a broom closet next to that chapel. Her old (and lightly used) feather bed is still preserved in a room next to the chapel, IIRC.

After viewing this wonderful and informative video I can say that I now understand why Saint Valentine is considered to be the patron Saint of love. I am not sure how well he did while living but after death he sure got around. Thank you again for this wonderful treat Mr. Dark!!!

some how i dont think the 7 heads of jesus, the 13 right hands hands, the 5 noses, 9 hearts, etc (all verified as true relics by the catholic church) would come back as the same DNA! If they dated that skull it wouldnt be 600 years old!

Even if any those relics are legitimate, what the Catholic Church leadership is doing is disrespectful. The Vatican could order DNA testing of the remains, identify whose remains are whose, and bury them accordingly. St. or Sts. Valentines were part of a Jewish sect, and Judaism (including Christianity) does not allow the desecration of decedents’ remains.

Also there are 2 or 3 saint valentines from different eras, different reasons they became saints too so its possible there are parts of several "legitimate" saints plus fakes in circulation

Another saint story that happened here in Ireland Arthur. The preserved heart of St Laurence O’Toole, the patron saint of Dublin, has been stolen from Christ Church Cathedral. The relic was kept in a wooden heart-shaped container sealed within a small iron-barred cage in St Laud's chapel in the cathedral. The bars of the cage had been cut.

OMG, Poor Saint Valentine met with the same faith as my stolen 1973 Ford Galaxy....where it's parts were located from New Jersey and as far away as Connecticut. This was great, thank you for all the research you put into all your videos.

That’s pretty neat man that they could basically take one small piece of Saint Valentine’s skeleton and give it to different people as gifts in different churches around the world to help preserve his legacy, this is fabulous. Great video and thanks for mentioning Chaucer!! No mention of Valentine's Day with the story of Saint Valentine, of course...Roman times had a celebration that wasn't particularly romantic, by the way! Men running around and hitting women with leather strips! Yes, it was Chaucer who first gave us the "love" in the poem, but it was also a satire about the Parliament at the time! Today, I celebrate with Rudolph Valentino, as "Valentino 'e amore!" His lips were "cupid"-like as you can see in today's short....He, of course, lies in repose in only ONE place....😓
