His joy is everlasting, His presence to be cherished, for He is the priceless pearl and the only gate into the kingdom of Heaven. He is no minor thing, nor is His joy, which shall be given unto those who endure the cross and partake of His sufferings: this is the joy set before us, that we may be one at last with the Lord. As a disobedient lamb, we all have gone astray, and he being the good shepherd does break our bones that we should know His mercy, for He protects us from the wolves so long as we remain at His side and follow wherever He goes: He breaks our cynical rebellion yet how our bones may rejoice! To know Him in His sufferings! This is the only way to know and experience the fellowship of the Holy Spirit.
