It’s not real. It’s not real. It’s not real…
Watch the new trailer for #TheBoogeyman, only in theaters June 2.
20th Century Studios and 21 Laps present “The Boogeyman,” a horror-thriller from the mind of best-selling author Stephen King, which opens June 2, 2023, in theaters nationwide. High school student Sadie Harper and her younger sister Sawyer are reeling from the recent death of their mother and aren’t getting much support from their father, Will, a therapist who is dealing with his own pain. When a desperate patient unexpectedly shows up at their home seeking help, he leaves behind a terrifying supernatural entity that preys on families and feeds on the suffering of its victims. “The Boogeyman,” directed by Rob Savage (“Host”) with a screenplay by Scott Beck & Bryan Woods (“A Quiet Place”) and Mark
Heyman (“Black Swan”), based upon the short story by Stephen King, stars Sophie Thatcher (“Yellowjackets”), Chris Messina (“Birds of Prey”), Vivian Lyra Blair (“Obi-Wan Kenobi”), Marin Ireland (“The Umbrella Academy”), Madison Hu (“Bizaardvark”), LisaGay Hamilton (“Vice”), and David Dastmalchian (“Dune”). The producers are Shawn Levy (“Stranger Things”), Dan
Levine (“Arrival”), and Dan Cohen (“The Adam Project”), with Emily Morris (“Rosaline”), John H. Starke (“Sicario”), Scott Beck, Bryan Woods, Adam Kolbrenner (“The Tomorrow War”), Ryan Cunningham, and Robin Meisinger serving as executive producers.
“The Boogeyman” opens in theaters nationwide June 2, 2023.

I read this short story by Stephen King in his “Night Shift” book and it truly terrified me. Most of the setting takes place in a psychiatrist’s office while the children’s father narrates the entire story while lying on a couch, as his doctor listens and writes notes. Very scary twist at the end, too. Hope this film gives it justice! ❤

This is one of my favorite horror movies I’ve seen. Most plots are cheesy and not well built, they only focus on jump scares. @Acy Peterson The headlines are little misleading. I dont believe they actually cut anything they added space between scares and dialogue so the audience wouldn't miss anything. Quote from the director Rob Savage: “The first time you see the creature, the audience screamed so loud, and then immediately started talking with their neighbours and chattering, that they completely missed the next lines,” he explains. “So we had to recut it and build in 45 seconds of padding, just so they didn’t miss any vital information.”

As a horror fanatic since I was a child, it’s been far longer than a few years. Try a couple decades with the exception of a handful. If that in American cinema. Why most of us moved over to foreign horror films. Korea has killed it for a decade. American cinema died long ago just remakes and rip offs. Hopefully as someone whose read every King novel owns every movie among hundreds of horror on DVD, this does not disappoint. Was originally a short story called the night shift. Not getting my hopes up as usual. Always better that way don’t go in expecting much. Isn’t the 80’s-early 2000’s anymore
