This was a really interesting episode because the Boogie man was not a Ghost but a sort of demon monster thing...this episode scared the Hell out of us as kids

so the boogieman is technically one of the most important ghosts of the whole show. Since he's the one who prompted Egon to become a Ghostbuster in the first place!

This should have been one of the first ones they released. This is honestly also my favorite monster in the cartoon franchise.

The first season voice acting and the characters were so much better as well as the writing. Peter telling the kids about their usual fee, but then indulging them as well as asking for night time snacks for them show that Peter as well as the other guys had a great heart, especially for kids.

This brings back memories. This was one of my favorite episodes next to "Mrs. Rogers' Neighborhood" and "The Sandman".

The boogieman, the four horsemen, the sandman, CTHULHU, nobody can stop the Ghostbusters.

Ghostbusters rule 1: don't mess w/ the kids

That episode was AWESOME! I love how they portrayed the Bogeyman as a demonic creature that resides in another dimension that resembles an M.C Escher artwork and the way it resembles a demon similar to the child-feasting creature Lamia! It also reminds me of the Roblox horror game "Doors" and the Insidious trilogy, with the way the Bogeyman resembles the Red-Faced Demon and his home realm being quite similarly described and portrayed as The Further realm where the former resides. I also see the Bogeyman has traits of Satan himself, especially with the cloven hooves! It's almost as if the Bogeyman's domain is located between Earth and Hell, with the Bogeyman's scaring perhaps being the work of the Devil himself!

"The Boogey Man Cometh" is my favorite episode of The Real Ghostbusters. "Mrs. Roger's Neighborhood" is my second favorite.

You could make the Boogey Man be the ultimate villain and actually make the Ghostbusters movie quite serious. Anytime you hear the music cue come in that plays when their packs are overloading, that is the "deadly serious" theme used only in very few episodes. The "everything is at stake" theme. The most serious Ghostbusters episode ever is when that one guy got a flute that could play a song that would end the world. He was basically impossible to beat and almost destroyed the entire world. I believe it was called Ragnarok and Roll. They literally only won because his best friend we w child was going to die and it changed his heart back from a demon to a man. He then played the "Song of Life" and restored the destruction. The Ghostbusters literally could NOT beat him, he himself gave in.

As an adult, I think shows how good the writing and voice acting were that the Boogieman doesn’t have a lot of dialogue, but what he does say hits hard.

My exGF was extremely traumatized by this episode. She genuinely was afraid of this specific Boogeyman. It was fun to tease her with that. Her siblings even made a piñata with its shape to prank her when she was young. Lots of love from México to the creators and writers!

I love how in the series they don’t just deal with ghosts. They deal with other supernatural beings too, like the bogeyman, vampires, and werewolves

When I was a child the Boogeyman got stuck in my head. It is so creepy. On the other hand, Peter's skepticism of the Boogeyman is ironic for a ghostbuster.

I remember watching this episode in the early am with my brother . We look similar to the brother and sister in this episode. We loved ghostbusters and we would get out our ghostbusters toys when the episodes would come on. Even The original ghostbusters cartoon & live show with the orange car and gorilla with the two guys. Well half way into this episode my brother puked all over the floor. Just out of the blue. Not connected to the show but I never forgot it. Memories in the corners of my mind……

This was a genuinely clever Ghostbusters story. It had the M.C. Escher environment of the Boogieman’s world, character development for Egon, and the fun romp of them chasing the Boogieman across children’s bedrooms in far-flung places. I’d like to think of it as canonical on some level with the movies.

At 21:59, Egon has the look of satisfaction on his face, he finally fulfilled his childhood dream of stopping the Boogeyman.

The most unrealistic part of this was that NYC wasn’t jammed up with cars

How do you introduce the Boogeyman? This. This is how you do it.

The greatest Ghostbusters episode. This would be such an awesome movie if done right. Those Ghostbusters were brave. They had no idea if the Boogieman’s realm would have either oxygen or gravity or any other pitfalls. I wonder if there was a reason the packs and the bomb had to be on his throne. What if they just put them right by the door that led from the $1500 apartment and went back immediately? Where was Slimer? They could have used his help. It’s like he just hid the whole time. What if the ghost bomb was a dud or didn’t seal the layer off? Boogie was maniacally laughing when he thought he was chasing them back into our world without their packs. No one made sure Boogie was not on Earth when they set off that bomb either. Boogie could have decided to keep chasing them and abandoned his layer. He could have also reached the proton packs in time. No one wondered if Boogie could break the seal either. What Egon planned was very risky and very reckless. They should have been wearing trackers and have Janine standing by with extra proton packs. And have Slimer carrying a fifth with them in the realm. Egon was so driven that he threw caution to the wind. Did he do that In other eps? This seems so out of character for him.

The animators should've also had the rest of the ghosts that appeared in the animated series (including Slimer) be see-through, just like how it was done for the ghost of Louie the gangster, because that's how a ghost should be animated.

I always enjoyed this episode. An All time favorite.

The Philippines, Summer (April, 1989). My whole Family would watch Ghostbusters every Friday at 8 pm. I was 8 years old, eating Snickers and M&M's after dinner. No Internet, no mobile devices. Wake up the next day (Saturday) and play outdoors the whole day. Yes, we had video games, but 2 hours was max, and you can't play during school time. Life was so good back then.

How they made the Boogeyman in this episode was creepy.

This. Was. Scary. I was in my early 20's living in LA. One of my friends said to watch Ghostbusters; that episode was "Mrs. Rogers' Neighborhood." On RGB, they let the animation and the script dept. free reign (finally). But This One carried a trigger or 2. Character design at its finest. One of my friends was in film school and he hammered out a pitch synopsis that was sadly rejected.

Those kids' parents must be heavy sleepers.
