In Exodus, the Israelites come to Mt. Sinai, where God invites them into a covenant relationship. He wants to make them his representatives to all the nations and come to personally live in their midst. But Israel rebels by making an idol of the golden calf, which is just a really bad idea.

With the 10 commandments one says to not lie. I heard of people do affirmations to reach there goals and sometimes its saying things that you aren't already like ... I am a millionaire... is that lying ?? Are affirmations lying

@@jordan63646 .... I have wondered about that, too. It does seem kind of like lying to yourself. In layman's terms (as well as in a profession I am part of), it's a little to akin to "self-delusion"....and that's often a REALLY scary in terms of emotional/mental well-being....and often a harbinger of worse things to come.

God is omnipotent. Even if He were to wipe out the rebels and restart with one (Moses), He could have still multiplied the seeds of Abraham. Therefore, either way, He wouldn't have broken His promise. He chose mercy at the end of the conversation. This was a proof that prayers and fellowships with God can make a difference on how God carries out His plan for us.

May you trust that in all circumstances God will carry our His good and glorious work in you and through you, Amen!

The story of Moses changing God's mind in Exodus 32:11-14 was so theologically shifting for me. It's so cool recognizing God's open convental relationships with people.
@nemesis3329
@nemesis3329 3 жыл бұрын
It is not possible to change God's mind. As the Bible and logic affirm God is unchanging (Mal. 3:6; James 1:17). He is also all-knowing and fully sovereign. He neither changes His mind, His will, nor His nature. He is in other words immutable. A mere human, a creature, cannot influence or surprise the Creator (who is the Potter and who is the clay?). When Israel was at the foot of the mountain enahed in idol worship, God told Moses that His anger was burning against them and He was prepared to destroy them in judgement. However, when Moses interceded for them, the circumstances were changed. God's attitude toward sin is always anger, and His attitude toward those who call to Him is always an attitude of mercy. Before Moses prayed for Israel, they were under God's judgement. By Moses' intercession for the people of Israel, he brought them under God's mercy. God did not change. Rather, the circumstances changed. The language used in this passage is called anthropomorphic, or man-centred, language. It is similar to someone moving from one place to another and saying, "Now the house is on my right," "Now the house is on my left." Neither of these statements is meant to imply that the house moved. Rather, it is language from a human perspective to describe that I have changed my position in relation to the house. When Moses said that God relented, it was a figurative way of describing that Moses' intercession successfully changed the relationship of the people to God. He brought the nation under the mercy of God's grace, and out from under the judgement of God. Reference: The Big Book of Bible Difficulties by Norman Geisler and Thomas Howe

Looks funny or ironic .. true in some way .. but .. Not Accurate at all .. There is a major difference between Sinners if we may say .. a Person who commit sin due to mistake .. and those doing it all knowingly and with all intention .. Moses like all human beings did by mistake things that are wrong from God perspective .. but did not do it intentionally .. But "this is" the story of Salvation .. that we All went astray .. so Jesus had to come to save us All .. So .. your looks like a funny comment .. is in fact the wisdom of the bible ..

Had to comment because there were 666 comments. Not a good number so here's my comment....love this video! The artwork is incredible and you always seem to make the Bible easier to understand. It's exactly what I needed this year to read through the entire Bible. Thank you!

Wow! You guys are doing super work, and here I am in Israel getting a better Bible lesson than I have ever had here (so much in Israel is Talmudic, and from subsidiary commentaries). I thought that Moses went up on Mount Sinai to receive the written and oral Torah, and he would (as portrayed in the video) share them with the Israelites. Worshipping an idol would be a slap to God, but did the Israelites know and understand the 10 commandments, specifically the prohibition on idolatry, before Moses brought down? Please keep up your beautiful work! Thanks, Joe.
