You do realise that word was being used when black people where being lynched by whites in the early 20’ and 30’s cough cough your grandmothers/ great grandmothers generation. In 50’s 60’s 70’s 80’s was being used negatively towards black people by white people cough cough your parents/ grandparents generation. You speak of ancestors like they stopped using that word negatively in the 1800’s. Go back 40 years ago and see what the racial climate was like and why if non black people mainly white people use that word black people get offended. don’t be ignorant educate yourself. When your father was growing up I’m pretty sure that word was flying around and being used negatively and not the one with the a either. Dont gaslight black people by saying we are being over dramatic, you realise until 1965 Black people couldn’t vote in the USA and in 1964 is when Jim Crowe got abolished that was 57 years ago which in terms of history is not that long ago.

@@sasquatchdonut2674 ok, I’m glad you asked and I’ll try to explain this. First off, you’re right, you are not your ancestors. That being said, if you’re not them, why would you do what they did? Second, context is important so I don’t automatically assume ill intent, however, white/European ancestors created the word as a slur to do what they pleased to slaves/African ancestors and justify it. Ironically, black people use it in a different context in what you could call a “badge of honor” so to speak, that’s why this is such a big issue. The context in which black people refer to each other is different from the context that a white person would call to a black person. Hopefully that clears that up, if you have any other questions, I’ll do may best to answer for transparency sake
