The BORG Are RETURNING In Star Trek: Picard Season 3 - Theory

The BORG are returning! Yes, I said it! Now listen to this theory, and it might make sense!
Since the introduction of season 3, Captain Vadic had been touted as the big bad. That went well for her, given the last episode. However, Star Trek: Picard’s Real Enemy might be closer to home. It’s already been established that Vadic answers to someone else. Therefore, Star Trek: Picard Season 3 might be dealing with a familiar enemy. We already have Changelings, which connect with Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. However, we think The Borg has something to do with the plot of the third and final season.

This is frankly the best coverage I've seen to date of this theory. No "filler" or rambling, and gets straight to the evidence. No other channel raised the subtitle slip-up, or discussed the possibility of project proteus being a borg/changeling hybrid. Surprised you didn't cover the Irumodic Syndrome though as this seems to be a key part of the puzzle and Picard wasn't diagnosed with it until three years *after* Locutus.

What if the original Borg was Locutus and Picard was just a vessel. Locutus could have been overthrown by Borg Queens. In the tv show, maybe the Borg Queen believed she was making a weak version of Locutus but over time, evolving was killing Picard but through Jack is able to become stronger. A perfect host. Just a theory.

They could bring back so many old enemies, albeit the list narrows if there's suppose to be a past connection to Picard. It's has to be an enemy that capable of playing the "long strategy game". I've got villain fatigue with the Borg.
@bjorn00000
@bjorn00000 Жыл бұрын
I think the larger problem is that the Borg don't really mean anything anymore. When they were first introduced, they were an actual existential threat that the characters had to deal with. In Voyager, they could provide a foil against which Seven could show her progress in recovering from trauma. And while a lot of folks didn't like s2 of Picard, it did a few subtle (and some not so subtle) things with the Borg that were interesting and new. (The transmission of "Picaaaaaard..." from the anomaly was truly creepy and effective... even if they didn't stick the landing.) This is just turning them into less entertaining, less campy versions of the Cybermen from Doctor Who. It's providing yet *another* character moment by retreading ground that should have been left alone.

My theory is it's not the Borg, it's Locutis of Borg alone. Section31 was experimenting on the changelings to make them a weapon. Of course they were attempting to make them useful against the Borg. Once Picard died, they used Picard's body to continue their experiments in the changelings. This accidentally transfers something of Locutis into the Changelings. This is also how the changelings escaped. Locutis is limited somehow, and needs Jack as a living compatible host body. The floating head is Locutis.

Picard's parietal lobe was removed. That is the part of his brain the Borg probably altered when they assimilated Picard originally & he became Locutus (meaning "has spoken"). When Picard (then Locutus) was severed from the Collective, Beverley said although she removed Borg parts from his body, his entire DNA was being rewritten. That's how Jack inherited his abilities and probably with Borg's intention to develop a more organic Borg, more easily able to take over others. You're probably correct that the head is Locutus (AI Program) capable of torturing Vadic. The modified Changelings or at least Vadic was aware of Jack's capabilities, but the biological experiment with Changelings in the lab made them more into solids and they evolved (adapted) so they couldn't be detected as Changelings would normally be through scans. Beverley even said so in earlier episodes, that it was the result of "evolution". Jack has Borg DNA through his father Picard.

They've been playing the Star Trek First Contact theme at the end of every episode. Everything that Terry Matalas has shown in the ending credits has been relevent to the season, so I'm expecting a wrathful Borg Queen to make a return. I wouldn't be surprised if Section 31 built her a knew body with her remains from First Contact and they may have been using her nanoprobes to alter these Changelings. It could explain how Vadic knows so much about Jack Crusher and the rest of Starfleet. Could also explain why Vadic had a veiny look to her, like someone who was being assimilated.

I Don't think its the Borg. Troi states it is an ancient darkness that is surrounding and passing through Jack Crusher. The Borg do not have the telepathic capability to give Jack his superhuman powers or control the Changelings. Why would the Changelings help the Borg knowing they will be next on the Borgs list for assimilation. The Borg have no need for such tactics, if they really wanted to they could just send a few dozen Cubes to the alpha quadrant and no one would be able to stop them. I think the Borg is a Giant Red Herring... Now as to who or what this Ancient Darkness is I have no Clue. The Pah Wraiths possibly. we'll find out soon enough...

The borg returning doesn’t make much sense. They’ve reconciled that storyline in season 2. It’d be like bringing Q back again when his story arc has been settled satisfactorily. Plus the Changelings would not need to partner with the Borg. They seem to have infiltrated Starfleet well enough on their own. It’s odd they would need to take such demeaning commands from the Borg. Plus if the Borg returns the federation has transphasic torpedos right? Lol

Doubting this a bit. The video of Soong mentioned that Picard's advanced Irumodic Syndrome may not actually be that and it needed looked more into. Some sources indicate he had this disease prior to being assimilated. Thet also noted a sample was taken from Picard's body already so it being in the Shrike still doesn't mean anything. Just these past couple of episodes there is talk about Jack having an ancient evil around him, and being reborn. Nothing with the few instances we've seen of the face are at all Borg like. For some reason I've got paiwraith gul ducot in my mind. He's An enemy that bridges TNG and DS9 as well as the metaphysical and technology. There is a part of me afraid it's going to be the Borg as Geordi made a big deal of all the ships being at the same location and then being permanently networked but that's also the plot of last season where they networked the ships to block the energy burst.

An idea I had and mentioned in comments on another video is that there is another collective out there that can trace their roots directly to the Borg: The New Cooperative that was encountered in the Unity episode of Voyager. Granted, not much chance of them playing a role in this, but they did demonstrate they're not exactly "good guys" when they forced Chakotay to do their bidding. No, I don't actually think they would factor in, but I suppose if you stretch the imagination one could come up with a scenario where they play a role. (After all, one of the ladies in that episode had been assimilated at Wolf 359 and so would be aware of Picard/Locutus.) I know, my theory has more holes than Swiss cheese, but still I thought it might be interesting. 🙂

he pah wraith theories are interesting, but I think one thing is missed...the pah wraiths don't care about destroying Starfleet/The Federation. They were always shown to be exceedingly single-minded. They want to destroy the Prophets/prove their superiority over them and claim the Celestial Temple. That's it, they were never shown to be interested in destroying Starfleet/The Federation. The Emissary (Sisko), sure, given his connection to the Prophets...but helping some rogue changelings destroy Starfleet/The Federation wouldn't at all help them achieve their goals regarding the Prophets and the Celestial Temple. It's gonna be something to do with the Borg/Locutus, which is disappointing given how over-used and de-fanged the Borg have become given that overuse. There's just too much supporting a Borg/Locutus connection (while I'd find it disappointing, I do still find it interesting, which works for me). Support for the Borg/Locutus: Shaw's description of Locutus/Wolf 359 ("setting the world on fire", "like space itself was burning", "forget that weird shit on the Stargazer, the REAL Borg are still out there!"...fits the opening song from Ep 1, Picard's BoBW log entry made just before his capture and assimilation playing right off the bat in Ep 1...Picard remembering, we hear a quiet "I am Locutus of Borg' voice). The changelings taking over transporter chiefs (and Vadic and Ro refusing, quite vehemently, to use transporters...Jack's vision of seeing those using transporters being consumed/covered in those vines...his vision of Seven and vines, with the vines seeming to come from Seven rather than coming to her). Vadic's remark to Seven when she stayed on the bridge with Jack (i.e. fitting she witness this). PIcard and Geordi's convo about not being able to control what we pass on to our children (suggesting Jack inherited part of Locutus). The anomalous pattern in Picard's parietal lobe (misdiagnosed as Irumodic syndrome, which now Jack has too, so likely the same misdiagnosis). All Starfleet ships being networked (i.e. talking to each other)...very hive-mind like (and rather significant weakness for enemies like the Borg to exploit, who are obviously experienced with hive-minds/networked systems). Vadic/the changelings had access to Picard's remains since before the season even begins...likely extracted that "Irumodic syndrome", which is likely a remnant of Locutus and began infiltrating it into Starfleet (the networked ships, so the transporters are likely some kind of assimilation method now)...Jack is likely able to "warg" into anyone who has used a transporter (which likely is a more subtle/dormant/functionally different assimilation method now, to be used on Frontier Day). Jack's comment to Vadic shortly after he came to the bridge of the Titan, "It is rather pointless resisting". The Face consistently remarking to Vadic that she and the changelings are, essentially, just tools to use (i.e. irrelevant, aside from the function they serve to the larger goal). I suspect Vadic/the changelings are just useful infiltrators/thugs...easily used as the Borg/Locutus and these rogue changelings desire to destroy Starfleet/The Federation, so in part their goals align. Likely the Borg/Locutus offered these changelings (denied the Great Link due to the horrific experiments done to them) a new Link, albeit very different from the Great Link, but a hive mind of many voices would offer some semblance of what they lost. I suspect the Face is that part of Locutus infiltrated into Starfleet (Vadic's cutting off of her hand...is likely just to offer a visual to the communication they have, as they could just communicate verbally otherwise). I think Jack may be more than just Locutus 2.0...he may be some kind of living vinculum, given the strong theme of connection associated with Jack (vinculums being at the core of all Borg ships, which interconnects the minds of all the drones and purges individual thoughts and disseminates info relevant to the Collective), the voices speaking of "find me/us, connect us" (and we see what appears to be a vinculum, barely, on Daystrom Station, behind Worf just before the "attack tribble" scene). Seven had a very significant interaction with a vinculum during the VOY episode Infinite Regress (which gives weight to Vadic's comment to her on the bridge of the Titan). I think the voices Jack hears are all those who have gone through the transporters (might rewatch before Ep 9, as I think the number of voices he hears at times becomes more numerous as the season progresses).

It fits, although a bit boring with Borg/Locutus being the villains again. Especially considering the Vadic changelings don't have acces to the great Link anymore and want to be part of another link ie collective. The mind control part still doesn't make any sense, though, for it to be Locutus.

It's the pah-wraith. And it's obvious based on the clues so far. Red eyes, voices, ancient evil, smoke coming from the door, the pah-wraith saying they wanted to conquer the universe, I don't know how this isn't obvious to everyone by now.

My theory. Undine/Pa Wrath orchestrate, then changelings (Dominion) implement a plan to reawaken the Borg at Earth as a big F you to the Federation. Jacks a left over Undine/Wrath experiment/hybrid (maybe Beverly was replaced 20y ago) or some other .previous plan that can scupper it so they want him back. The fleet is compromised so it’s handy the fleet museum just happens to have the Defiant, Voyager and something in bay 12 that probably might be the E-E to come to the rescue. The 3 TNG era ships, Facing down 3 TNG era big bads with Picard, Worf and Seven. It’s basically the TNG era season final.

There are three episodes left, they aren't introducing locutus. Whether the Borg will play a role is to be seen, but some sort of hybrid is far more likely imo as the foundation is already laid, bringing locutus back so late with no new season coming would be stupid! As for dominion vs Borg, the Borg would obviously win. The only reason the dominion has such an upper hand on the federation is because the size of their empire was similar if not bigger, and they had built their empire around war and domination, vs the federation which was built around peace and exploration. If the federation were more like the Terran empire, the dominion would not have come close to winning, thus, the Borg would not have a problem winning.

The face does seem to me to have a familiar voicenot too sure who's though... The Borg collective (Together) to name one... Armus is a possibility... It could be a voice distortion of some mutation/clone of Picard himself, or possibly, as mentioned in the video, Locutus... Of those choices, I personally prefer Armus... They need to give the Borg a rest, and a Picard clone has been done B4, for those who chose to remember...

If it is the PA Wraiths we could see a return of Captian Sisko potentially. Which if that were to happen we could see Captian Sisko give Picard some forgiveness for becoming Locutus. Which would also be seen by Captian Shaw who also harbors resentment towards Picard for becoming Locutus. To be fair Picard was a victim in that scenario and would never do anything willingly to aid the borg. It would be a great opportunity to bring back Avery Brooks if he'd be willing to make an appearance. Just a thought I had considering they've been bringing elements from DS9 into this season.

I always felt what if they were tying to 2nd part tng s1 "conspiracy" since an attempted take over has taken place before, but even tho there's gaps in the theory there's a few things. In tng :conspiracy "The creatures were part of a bigger entity kinda a hive connected species of sorts. The small creatures part of a main one yet not the only one but the only one we know of thst maybe a scout to test the federations ability to be taken over. It failed but a signal was sent out maybe they did return learning from the last mistakes the Picard s2 portal could be a gateway they opened. It also seems the creatures are an old species that clearly believes in taking over other species as hosts. Also when picard was metting with his fellow captains he walks down a walkway to a cave entrance and it's that same deep red . It may not be a door picard goes threw and that may not matter as a the door is a manifestation in Jack's minds. I just think that was a big deal when that infiltration happened and was left wide open for a return and until now there had been nothing to show of it yet here we have an unknown enemy more than the changeling thinks it's superior ( like the creature did in conspiracy) and infiltration and a gateway from unknown orgins and that the unknown enemies is ancient. Just saying something line up and tho we hot lots of borg hints it could be to throw us off. We shall see

Ugh this season was going so well until they decided to bring back the Borg…again. It was so exciting to FINALLY get some DS9 lore involved for the first time since “new trek” was created and then the Changelings were immediately sidelined. What about the vorta and the jem h’dar (bad spelling sorry)? Oh but now the Borg are different. Why are new Trek writers so afraid of acknowledging DS9? It’s bizarre at this point.
