As a C’s fan, I just realized Wemby actually helped the Celtics win a championship. In the 2nd-to-last game of the season, Wemby single-handedly carried the Spurs to a win over the Nuggets. This led to the Nuggets being knocked down to the 2nd seed and entering the playoff bracket with the Timbwerwolves. The Twolves were quite literally designed to beat the Nuggets, and that’s exactly what happened. The Nuggets match up well against the Celtics, and if they made the Finals, they probably would have repeated.

As a casual, this was my takes from game 3 - Boston’s defence is on another level. PJ Washington & DJJ do not make a big enough impact meaning Luka and Kyrie need to score atleast 35 points each & hope to god that the role players hit their 3s. Boston seem to not even have role players, every player is very good/elite in their position. It felt like every time Boston had the ball they would score, I feel for Luka.

If you go back and look slightly before Doncic's 6th foul, the celtics are running the fast break and luka trips Brown and both players go tumbling to the floor, stopping the fast break. That could have easily been Luka's sixth right there, he was playing with fire the whole 4th quarter.

I was at the game tonight, and it was clear that the Mavs were not going to win unless Luka and Kyrie both had monster games. In the middle of the 4th, there were 4 players on the court with Kyrie who had zero points. THJ, DJJ, Maxi, Green, Exum, and Gafford together had 13 points in the entire game. No team can win a championship like that.

What sucks the most for me is the fact that just making the finals has extended Kidd’s time as the HC in Dallas by at least 2 more seasons. I’ve never liked him as a HC, too many moments throughout his career where he seems clueless, like calling a timeout on a 20-2 run for instance. I personally don’t think Kidd is a championship winning coach and not the guy that team needs making decisions in moment like this

I found it very odd how everyone was picking the Mavericks before the Finals. The Celtics have been a historically dominant team all season. They were also historically dominant in the playoffs. They were favored in Vegas entering the series. And yet something like 64% of fans and 75% of pundits picked the Mavs. I didn't understand it. It felt like people were judging the Celtics on their past "failures." I'm not sure if making it to 6 of 8 conference finals should count as a failure, but that's a different discussion. The point is that people were judging this team based on past teams. It made no sense to me given the changes in personnel and performance. Now it's playing out exactly how you'd expect it to play out when a 64-win team goes up against a 5-seed. Yes, Dallas was better than your typical 5-seed in the last few months. But no matter which segment of the season we take, Boston has far outperformed Dallas from a net rating perspective. Add in that Boston's strengths are perfectly tailored to shut down Dallas's strengths, and you have a lopsided series.

Man all I wanna say is that I loved this Dallas Mavs squad and we played some of the best basketball until the finals and it was so sad seeing us going out so sad, all I can say is that we have next season.

If it makes you feel any better for putting tough love on luka, Jaylen brown has been playing with a broken left wrist since the start of the indy series. But he nuts up, doesnt really talk about it, heavily tapes that left wrist and plays good ball. Won ECF and will most likely be finals MVP while hes at it. All on the back of a broken left wrist.
