Ryan siding with Homelander is a massive consequence of Butcher’s crusade against Homelander. By pushing him away he ruined everything that Becca was trying to do to prevent her son from becoming like his father.

Honestly, I think Ryan inherited more than his father's powers. He inherited Homelander's need for acceptance and attention. He literally went from having bad dreams about Homelander hurting him to hugging him the first chance he got. That's desperate neediness.

@@starbrand3726 idk about that. He’s a child and lost his mother and now essentially hates Billy. Ryan just wants parents who love him/give him attention and despite Homelander being a horrible person, he told Ryan everything what he needed to hear at the moment. Ryan‘s still a child and just wants family like everyone at his age, so it really doesn’t have to be that deep 🤷🏽‍♂️.

Well I mean the reason he pushed Ryan away is because Mallory told him "You are your father" in the scene directly before which made him want to distance himself from Ryan because of the influence his father had on him.

Good theories at the end. But let me add this... Remember what Butcher said. The Compound V just makes you more...you. Ryan was always an angry child. He was furious after Homelander pushed him off the roof, he was angry at Stormfront, and he was extremely angry after Butcher fake rejected him. Also, like his father, Ryan was starved for attention. Look how many times he needed reassurance followed by a ..."Are you mad at me?"

Ryan is, essentially, Homelander. And we saw what could happen when that child is raised in a stable, loving home. He turns into a good kid, one who could someday be Superman. But now he's lost that. The only hope we have is the fact that Homelander actually loves Ryan and it's possible that that love will be enough to keep him from the darkness in the end.

@@17thknight There is one small flaw in your theory. For the first ten years of his life Ryan was raised by Becca. For the most part it was a loving home and Becca nurtured him during the formative years. But see how quickly Ryan changed? That change shouldn't have happened no matter what tragedy occured. Becca's love and Ryan's upbringing should have strengthened his mind and allowed him to cope with the loss of his mother and additional hurtful events. But Ryan went so easily, too easily, to the dark side.

When I was a child, I would watch cartoons and stuff and I would love the hero, simply because he seemed cool and would always win. Not because he was being morally right. That's a child's view. And Ryan always seemed to watch child-like stuff bc Becca definitely wouldn't have let him watch stuff too serious

Do you notice how Ryan starts his episode by throwing a baseball to no one feeling that no one understands him and he has no one in his life even though Mallory there to take care of him he still feels isolated just like homelander felt when he was on that fake farm throwing a baseball up into the air to no one

I mean you use the term "much easier" very loosely. Yes, Homelander is stronger than Soldier Boy, but not by a whole lot. Suped up Butcher, Starlight and Kimiko aren't enough to stop Soldier Boy so they'd still have an incredibly hard time taking down Soldier Boy and he's still a loose cannon. It made perfect sense that Butcher turned on him in that moment since he was going to kill Ryan. Not to mention that none of the shows current roster could replace Homelander as a main antagonist anyway. They can't really off Homelander until they're ready to end the show completely.

@@Bumbum_Inspector If Homelander ever took advantage of his super speed or flight he would be unstoppable. Also from what we've seen Starlight isn't a strong superhero, and Kimiko we only really see kill regular people. She loses every fight against supes. Homelander is also extremely unstable compared to Soldier Boy.

One turns into an unstoppable, supe murdering death machine if his PTSD is triggered and the other is a sometimes predictable, sometimes unpredictable unstoppable sociopath. While I agree with you that Homelander would be infinitely more dangerous if he used his powers better and trained, I feel like he has too much of a god complex and is too arrogant to bother doing that. Also, if they did kill him off so soon, who would replace him as the main antagonist? There's no reason to chop such strong acting power from Antony Starr and such a compelling villain as Homelander from the show if they plan to continue the show. The seasons without Homelander wouldn't be as good and the show would be far less watchable.

Unpopular opinion, I want Ryan to break bad in season 4, otherwise it will just be Homelander as the antagonist with maybe Neuman in the background. Obviously they'll probably introduce new characters but bad Ryan, yeah!

When Ryan got knocked out and woke up the person he saw standing over him was home lender so that just adds to the fact of what the things homelander was saying to him before when he landed at Mallorys like this just adds up it feels like the natural thing to do I should go with this person he was worried about me he was concerned he standing over me worried and he’s my biological father not to mention that butcher cut that tie and said we said to Ryan a while Ago

When Maeve does eventually come back, she can take temp v to help fight Homelander in the finale & heal her eye too without being a permanent supe. I think the show wants us to think that regular V will save Butcher but I think they will kill him off.

Soldier Boy was the only character true to his word this season, and this is pure betrayal, not to mention the fact that Butcher hesitated despite the fact that he is the same psychopath, nothing prevented the same Huey from picking up Ryan or Maeve herself from flying away with him and then continuing to fight with Homelander...Otherwise, this twist will suck and I hope the next season will bear fruit because of this and fill in the gaps (as with the same Noir)

I was honestly on Hughie and Butcher and Soldier Boy's side the whole time until Butcher decided to turn on Soldier Boy rather foolishly I feel... He could've just said "hold on lemme get Ryan in the clear then you can finish the job" instead of attacking him straight on

It's all Butcher fault, he messed up with Ryan and Betray the only weapon able to kill Homelander. Butcher could've tried put Ryan away, the fight would've been Longer but SB would still be on their side. Say what you want about Soldier Boy but atleast he kept his word, he was more honest than Butcher and Hughie.

I know Ryan's a kid, but due to his situation, when he was moved to be with Mallory after what he did to his mother, someone should have been straight with him about who Homelander REALLY was. Even though he is TECHNICALLY his father, his mother raised him SPECIFICALLY to keep him away from him because he was a bad person. Kids had the puberty/sex ed talk at school around that age so he's old enough to know the truth and if he did he NEVER would've went with Homelander, even after what Butcher said. He loves his mom more than he hates Butcher.

Soldier Boy was true to his word and butcher betrayed him, turned away Ryan and put the world in more jeopardy because of his hypocrisy and selfishness. I hope they bring back soldier boy and black noir somehow. I also don’t think soldier boy isn’t racist. That felt really out of place. I saw no evidence of that.

Here are three examples of why Soldier Boy is, in fact, a racist... 1) Stopped a car theft, by throwing said car through a house in a black neighborhood. Honestly, this was highly excessive and unnecessary, not to mention the fact that it resulted in traumatizing Mother's Milk, who would eventually join Butcher's crusade against Supes. 2) Sabotaged Black Noir's dream of a movie career, beat him to a bloody pulp, and threatened to kill him, which he emphasized by referencing a black sitcom. 3) Doesn't understand why Vought-a-Burger discontinued the "Chop-Socky Oriental Sauce." Soldier Boy's racism was there, but it wasn't as overt as it was with Stormfront. Although, he's one of the types of racists that had a lot of respect for those whom he considered to be the "good ones." For example, like MANY people in the 80s, he thinks highly of Bill Cosby. Still, I can't say if he actually knew the context behind the drinks.

@@SemiJuggaloNumber2 1) Just collateral, the guy was about to kill a hundred people by accidentally blowing up the ammo camp, he does not care enough to hold back so people in his way will often die. 2) Nothing to do with race, just the top dog defending his spot by eliminating the ambitious competition, he is very similar to Homelander in that regard, he treated all of his team members badly no matter what race they were. 3) Why would he? Its stupid to most people even by todays standards, let alone by the standards of someone who lived in an era when people weren't such sensitive snowflakes that words like oriental were considered wildly racist. Imagine you awake a few decades into the future and suddenly terms like "African American" are treated like the n-word because in your absence people managed to outwoke you and now put you into the same category as a clansman with your standards. The man does not throw racial slurs around, he refers to Bill Cosby, a very black man, as "Americas dad", calls him a real man, which to him is the highest praise he could ever give anyone. Calling him a racist made zero sense, but then again MM is not a smart man, never has been, so he probably assumes that everyone he is against must be a racist.

I get it you're an Ackles fan but it's not that Soldier boy is loyal or good. He is a soldier, bred to follow & complete the mission. That's all that is. Plus his own father issues make him abusive, controlling. He kills for revenge & to be the most powerful... sound like someone we know? lol Just becuz he's entertained by black people or employs them, doesn't make him NOT racist. lol

Homelander is STILL a child. .. mentally and emotionally ... There is no way he could handle the responsibility of raising Ryan. The show was intentionally showing us how sons are often mirrors or echoes of their fathers. . So with Homelander being raised like an abandoned needy lab rat.. He WILL repeat the same mistakes with Ryan. (Look what he did to ♥ Noir his ONLY "friend" and truly his only real ally..) Solider boy, Billy, MM, Homelander... the one good dad situation was Huey The only one that broke that neglect and abuse cycle was Frenchie. . oui? I think Ryan is going to find out that he's a product of r@pe.. (Maybe the Ashleys will drop him clues? They seem to be turning a positive corner) Ryan will probably run away, and show up near the end of the season as an antagonist (Again mirroring his father like so many others during this season) Honestly, I've wanted Ryan to do a Brightburn turn since the beginning of this season. ... 😈 Loved the reaction guys! One last question, have either of you read any of The Boys comics? I just finished the last issue.. AND MAN they are gory, brutal and DARK to the max. .. I LOVED THEM! 😍💕📓 BUT, if u haven't read them yet, I'd wait for the show to end... bc some of the twists and turns and GUT WRENCHING deaths might still happen on the show ! 😱😳

Butcher still has the airplane footage of homelander, so maybe that could be saved for the right moment to put a wedge between Ryan and Homelander. And also, I think the show runner pretty much confirmed in so many words that someone else would take up the mantle of Black Noir. They will put someone else in the costume. Maybe Vought wont want to say how he died so maybe Victoria will give homelander a person to take up the mantle, who will end up working for her and Edgar.

Whilst season one was flawless in consistency. And season 2 had ups and downs. This season to me was almost flawless but kept the highs of the previous season whilst only stumbling a bit in the finale here. To me personally. Season 1 was a 9/10. Season 2 - 7.5/8 out of 10. And this one is like 9.3/10. Almost a 10 here. But gotta dock points

Butcher in the comics put together an amazing plan to get rid of all the Supes all at once at one point. I feel right now since they have a ticking clock of about a year to 18 months this is where his master plan will come in to play

here's the way i see it........Ryan gave a HUGE kick to Soldier Boy......Soldier Boy was about to take out BOTH Homelander AND RYAN!!!! At that moment, Butch snapped and came to his senses, to protect Ryan Homelander, seeing that Butcher was going to protect Ryan, essentially thought "for Ryan", and teamed up, if only for a moment, with Butcher at this point, EVERYONE (but Maeve) was on the same page, "let's fuck up Soldier Boy"......it was only in the end, when Maeve finally accepted, Soldier Boy had to go and i BELIEVE this ties up Maeve's character beautifully.......not only did she have the day she saw Homelander scared.....she saw the day that SHE FUCKED Homelander up, even jamming a pencil in his ear

Ryan is like his father Growing up isolated but Ryan at least had his mother a moral compass the only person who loved him then his world got flipped upside down when he found out his father was a famous superhero very strong. Then after the death of his mother he is isolated again with no friends no family to really look after him no real family in anyway and all he had was a link of butcher them and butcher cut that tie by saying what he said to him about Rebecca that line was forever severed. Then home later arrives and says no matter what I will always love you giving him the validation he needs having someone in this world who loves him no matter what in return Ryan will return that love but this makes everything more dangerous because to keep that love Ryan seems like he’ll do anything to make his father proud. This narrative is shown through our homeland is family Soulja Boy being a disappointment to his father then homeland or being a disappointment to Soldier Boy and then in their initial meeting Ryan being a disappointment to Homelander. Ryan smiles because these people are cheering his father in a way they are cheering him

i feel like they are trying to give us these mixed signals so we won’t really know who our main antagonist truly is. But I have a strong strong hunch that Stan edgar is the main villain, pulling all the strings from behind closed doors. He’s the only one on the show who seems to have a high intelligence level and competent enough to play everyone into his hand

People are picking sides either homelander or starlight. soldier boy if you want to be happy by jimmy souls. 80 era payback poster like ones done by arnold bruce willis or stallone. 2 weeks after d day for the photo op like when captain america was just for publicity and promos. Mindstorm is mind droid in the comics a parody of the vision. Maave is being held in cell like starlight was in season 2. A buster beavers restaurant a play on chuckie cheese.

Ah... the final. Not really the best writing. Kimiko's arc alone makes me cringe. Spends the entire season wrestling with the fact that she doesn't want to be a monster only to start murdering Vought guards while listening to "Maniac". Even gets so obsessed mutilating the one dead guards body to the beat, that she let's Frenchie get shot. That character growth fell flat on it's face. And uniting against the only (actually not that big of a problem) Supe that can actually do something against the omnicidal maniac that is Homelander? Yeah... you had better ideas, Boys.

I just hope that Maeve and Elena doesn't start up a dairy farm I don't see that Vic The Veep even needs Homelander to take out Dakota Bob, she's more than capable of handling that all by herself. The actor who play's Ryan has been upgraded to series regular next season, so he's going to get a lot more screen time
