his love for becca compels him to protect ryan. afterall, becca's last wish is for butcher to protect ryan and not let homelander raise ryan into another psychopath. had becca not say any last wish to butcher, butcher would have tried to kill ryan for accidentally killing her. butcher wouldnt have cared for ryan

The thing that kills me with this fanbase is how this one episode was enough to make half of them drop the show completely or even look at it differently. All Butcher did was honor his wife's dying wish to keep her child safe and people look at him like he's being a cuck or a complete idiot for doing so. Butcher told Soldier Boy to stand down after explaining who Ryan is and they could've killed Homelander after they had taken Ryan out of the building.

As of first three episodes of season 4, Homelander has caused the deaths of at least four more people, who can thank Butcher for that... though, one of them was Todd, so who cares about that one. lol

He’s like 1/20 of what Superman is MAYBE lol. And no, it’s been stated and shown that SB is roughly on par with HL if not his only equivalent. Butcher actually held his own against HL pretty well in the mansion but got decimated by SB here.

Yep that was in herogasm when sb was fatigued from the beam ability.season finale sb was destroying everyone.and yes they are equals in terms of strength.sb has more durability and homelander has more abilities.however homelander heat vision was not able to hurt sb neither was Billy butcher.thats only prolonged heat vision from butcher and that shit healed.so yes they are equal in strength but homelander has more abilities@@holdmy40zz

That's what I'm saying. Ryan is a child who's experienced traumatic ass shit at a young age. He just needs someone to guide him and it's not as though he's entirely evil and heartless. It's just what's going on around him that's influencing him so he doesn't need to die cuz having a 'homelander' aka ryan on The Boys team would be awesome

people do not understand that butcher wouldnt have cared for ryan had becca not made her last wish; which is to raise ryan properly and protect him from homelander. butcher, out of his love for becca, does not want to break his promise to her last wish. and thus, he felt compelled to protect ryan out of obligation to his late wife. admittedly, at first i was kinda pissed. but after deeper consideration, what butcher did wasnt out of his character at all. he has a very good reason for doing what he did.
