Just want to say that PWS is the one of the greatest firearms companies in terms of customer service. An online retailer sent me the wrong product (a complete upper) after charging me and taking weeks and weeks to ship. I waited months for the retailer to exchange the correct product that I paid for, never receiving any response from the retailer by phone or email, then finally got in touch with PWS who contacted their buyer at the retailer. The PWS rep went out of her way to contact the retailer and made sure they had the advertised product that I originally bought, and to coordinate the exchange with her contacts there. Someone else high up in the retailer's command chain called me to apologize and tell me that the product had shipped. I'd have no hesitation doing business again with PWS. Their products rock but it's awesome to know that their customer service will take care of you if you need them.

All the Promises from the Magpul Masada(Bushmaster ACR), SIG SAUER P556xi, CZ Bren 2ms and AR15 have finally come true where one rifle can be used for everything. I own 7 AR15 556 NATO and 300BO and 9mm, 4 AR10 7.62NATO, SIG 556R 7.62x39mm, CZ Bren 2ms 7.62x39mm and Ruger Mini 30. I wouldn't actually consider 6.85 pounds as light weight. 6.85 pounds = roughly 6 lbs 14 Oz. I wish they could have made it closer to 6 pounds. By the time you add all the goodies on the gun it'll be really heavy just like my Spear LT is.
@TacgnolSimulacrum
@TacgnolSimulacrum 6 ай бұрын
@@patriotgunner 6.8lb for a 308 vs. the Spear LT being 7.5lb for a 5.56. Accessories don't change weight, so you're 0.7lb lighter regardless of the setup.
@patriotgunner
@patriotgunner 6 ай бұрын
@TacgnolSimulacrum no I have the 11.5" 5.56 pistol and that version is 6.1 pounds starting off BUT when you add a folding pistol brace setup it puts it at around 6.6 pounds. I know the uxr will be lighter for the short versions also but my point was that my Spear is also too heavy and it started off kinda light. A rifle really needs to be about 6 pounds flat to start with so then after you add all the accessories then you'll be around 7-7.5 pounds roughly and instead of starting at 7 pounds and winding up with an 8.5 pound rifle which is past the comfortable stage in 99.999999% of everybodies opinion. Reading a journal from socom soldiers in a national rifleman magazine, they all said that the max comfort level for a combat rifle is around 7 pounds to 7.5 pounds and the 416's they're packing around start off at almost 8 pounds so they have 11 pound rifles counting their eotechs, flashlights, atpals/lasers/ silencers ect.. and they all agree it is so cumbersome its hard to deal with.

@mckadehansen7352 6 ай бұрын
@@patriotgunnerI see what your saying, but anyone that's used to using a night-capable rifle with a reasonable barrel length is probably used to using a 10 pound rifle. This is more than a pound and a half lighter than any other Caliber conversion rifle I know of, and any kitted .308 that's under 10 pounds is a winner to me
@patriotgunner
@patriotgunner 6 ай бұрын
@mckadehansen7352 but comparing apples to apples it's 9 oz lighter than the Spear Lt in 16" rifle configuration. So that's barely a smidgen over half pound. That's a far cry from a pound and a half. The Scar is a full pound heavier than the UXR. Is there really anything else to compare? Worth mentioning anyway? The ACR doesn't count because it's out of production and the XCR well, honestly who cares about that gun? Have you ever even seen one in person ? I haven't. Never see any online either. So basically it's the Spear lt, UXR and scar

To me, the Robinson XCR is the greatest gun made in the last 30 years. I think it should have won the Scar program and it just delivered where the Scar & ACR failed. Over the past few years some guns have knocked on the door of the XCR, but didn't quite have ALL of the features of the XCR. The only real shortcoming was that you were limited to the same class of calibers, intermediate and "Battle rifle" being separated across 2 platforms with the XCR-L and XCR-M, and slightly by needing to use Ar-friendly 7.62X39 mags. This rifle has EVERYTHING from a feature standpoint, can accept Ak mags, and AR triggers and COMBINES the caliber range of the L & M model XCRs. All at a pound lighter.. Not to mention the potential for greater configurability with the handguard changes. Man I want one... I will offer a potential product improvement idea, (presumptuous when talking about potentially the most innovative firearm of my lifetime, but still) that I actually wrote to Robinson with years ago, that they didn't care for, but if they could add, at least an option for Ratchet Lever type bolts for a toolless barrel swap it would be perfect.

Seems like an XCR with extra steps. Modular poly lower is cool, but it's obvious this was heavily inspired by the RA. The receiver lines, stock, and bolt catch are obvious derivatives. I'm curious how the bore evacuator works with a can. The large number of screws in the receiver is a concern long-term, but as long they are torqued and witness marked by the operator it's probably not an issue. Stock hinge being foldable both ways may also reduce the robustness compared to a one-sided design.

I am grateful they are providing another modular rifle option, but this same rifle has already been done in the form of the Robarm XCR, which has been available for the last 15+ years. Maybe this will help them stay competitive on pricing, otherwise it is a rehash. We also have the PSA Jakl floating around in long stroke format also. We will see how it plays out. I do like PWS a lot, and wish them success in this offering.

XCR uses different receivers for large and small calibers, isn't ambi, swaps barrel differently , doesn't have changeable magwells. This gun can use AK mags, stanag, and ar10.

@@pootytang2872 The only part of the XCR that isn't ambi is the charging handle. This rifle is obviously heavily inspired by the XCR. The receiver lines, stock, and bolt catch. The big difference is the use of polymer lower, and way more screws

This is like if the MCX, MDR, and XCR had a gorgeous little baby. Besides being a bit fat, this rifle looks to include all the best features from the other systems.

How many people actually do caliber conversions? Anything this modular is likely to have long-term reliability and durability concerns. I'll give ya credit tho; it is slightly more innovative than an XCR...

Thats gonna be one of the big downsides. Its a large platform with that monolithic upper. Youll only be able to go so short. SBR wont be its strong suit

They should make a quad stack magwell that uses the desert tech magazines. And then consider making a quad stack mag well and magazine for 308. That would be awesome.

Are they going to come out with longer 308 barrels? A 20 inch would be great!
