Only to the Westminster creature does a Union-Agenda rigged referendum resulting in a narrow 55% win mean more than a BREXIT rigged referendum that still lost 62% to 38%. USSR, Roman empire and English Empire all failed for the same reason; the further you move away from national autonomy, (and arguably moreso, from localism) the closer the inflated power of sociapathic political megalomaniacs fuels the downfall. This is why England's Kingdom of parasitism will also fail, just like it's Empire of parasitism did and how both the US and Chinese will eventually also. Stop trying to rule others, individual sovereignty should be the goal, not one govt. The EU leaders also need a slap and reminded they are not a political union, they are an economic union only; and have no right to impinge on national sovereignty of others. All govts, including narcissistic creatures like Nancy Pelosi, need reminding that they are supposed to serve the people and should answer to the people.

The british empire died in 1947 when the crown jewel(india) broke away. The fact that modern india which is 23% smaller than british india still has the world's 3rd largest economy by PPP and 2nd highest population in the world just shows how important india was to the british empire.

Wikipedia > "The phrase "the empire on which the sun never sets" (Spanish: el imperio donde nunca se pone el sol) has been used to describe certain global empires that were so extensive that it seemed that at least one part of their territory was always in daylight. This statement is typically a hyperbolic boast of an empire's reach, but it has also been interpreted in a literal sense. It was originally used for the universal monarchy of the European and American dominions under Charles V of Habsburg (Duke of Burgundy, King of Spain, Archduke of Austria, and Holy Roman Emperor). The term was then used for the Spanish Empire of Philip II of Spain and successors, in the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. In more recent times, it was used for the British Empire, mainly in the 19th and early 20th centuries. In the 20th century, the phrase has sometimes been adapted to refer to the global reach of American power."

Scotland won’t join the EU, thats an SNP ploy to get more people to vote SNP. The SNP hope that if they continue that line Scotland will vote for independence if they get another referendum. The cold hard fact is that the EU can’t afford Scotland. The EU lost it’s 2nd largest contributor (the UK) and the EU now only has 9 contributing members and 18 sponging members. Scotland would be a sponger not a contributor. Also there’s now a world wide recession.

@@krinkovakwarfare Actually the HRE had no centralized ruling system. The emperor was considerable weak. The HRE was more like a federation of duchies with independent cities like Hamburg or Bremen. To protect all against threats from outside the HRE with the emperor to uphold the law inside the HRE. As German i never liked the strong centralized approach of the EU where Brussels has all the say and the members get deprived their sovereignty. It reflect the French structure of a strong centralized system. But Europe has many cultures languages etc so the federation structure Germany has, would be the better choice imo.

As General George C. Marshall said in 1945, Great Britain has become Little England and the Empire is no more. They will have to repay all the loans American made to them. This shattered the British economy and they were not repaid until 1991. Now that Britain is out of the EU, its influence in world affairs has waned. The irony is that Germany is now the strongest nation in Europe.

@jakhar Germany have always contributed to the EU, in fact they contribute almost twice more than UK, which is barely above italy by 0.14%, totaling to 11.88%. as much as that percentage is, it's not gonna shake the EU. The UK leaving is mostly symbolic. So can you stop being so self centered now.

@jakhar you guys are the one that insist on maximum Brexit, that's the reason why you have the Irish crisis in the first place. I'm pretty sure that you have same fishing laws as the EU. Well time will tell if Scotland and Wales will leave or not and so is the other EU Members. How exactly is the 65 Billion dollars , blackmail money? I'm pretty sure the Germans are more than happy to get rid of a noisy prick, quite easily too since their budget is bigger than it normally would because they don't spend a lot in military.
@continualvariability3345

@jakhar The combined EU fishing fleets land about 6 million tonnes of fish per year, of which about 700,000 tonnes are from UK waters. The UK's share of the overall EU fishing catch in 2014 was 752,000 tonnes, the second largest catch of any country in the EU. Separate research by Britain's Barclays Bank shows that, by GDP, Frankfurt is Europe's richest city. The southern German city of Karlsruhe is placed second, followed by Paris in third place. London, the highest ranked UK city, is in 23rd position. That should shut down any bullshit you throw at me. Don't blame the EU for the consequences of your actions, stop being childish. Unless you have the mental capacity of a child, you would know that the EU didn't lie for you to join, afterall your previous officials was not as ignorant as you.

@Vlavitir glutginskiya the principle of EEC and in turn the EU, is to make 'war unthinkable and materially impossible', it was never limited to economics. Also the UK has a say in the EU, that's the very reason you're capable of leaving, as for your sovereignty, your officials agreed to the arrangements , to which you didn't like, and as far as I am concerned, that's sovereign. Oh what's your definition of 'bailed out', and what are the examples of this. The only ongoing crisis here is the very clear presence of your political side. The Schengen area is less denser than China and the US, it really depends on how fast and efficient you handled the situation.

In 1977 Tom Nairn wrote a book called "The Break Up Of Britain". I read it back in the 80's and found it prophetic in its analysis of what was coming. Today that book seems more prophetic than ever and now the breakup of Britain appears inevitable to more and more people. England is fundamentally different from the other countries of the Union in that historically it is a Norman construct and lacks the organic quality of Scotland or Wales. Northern Ireland also lacks and organic reality but I believe it will become reunited with the republic which very much does have an ancient organic identity. England, and therefore the whole of the UK are dominated by The City of London which sits at the centre of a global financial empire that turns over trillions of pounds every year in tax avoiding schemes that make it a favourite of every dictator and gangster in the world. The EU has long wanted to shut down this alternative tax system for the super rich and as a result the leave campaign of "take back control" was born. So greed is in the driving seat in England (back up daily by the UK media) and sooner or later greed sends the most mighty and powerful crashing to the ground.

Ireland seems 60/40 in favour of re-joining. what makes me miserable about this is the main catalyst is Brexit but in 10 years the UK will almost definitely re-join anyway meaning this brake up would just be a pointless self-destruction of the UK. the only thing stopping us from fixing this is our current moronic government. :(

We achieve so much when we work together. To keep Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland we need more devolved powers and to become a legitimate federal state. It is no wonder Scots wish for independence when they feel their interests are not represented. If we could work more like Germany does where each state has serious powers then it would lead to much greater unity in the UK. Not to mention the neglected areas of England deserve just as much of a say! The UK has been ruled too long just for the benefit of those who live in southeast England. Please my scottish friends dont give up on it yet! Our United Kingdom is a great place and what makes it great is the combination of Scots, English, Welsh, Irish and all others!

Or we take back powers and create a new United Kingdom capital somewhere in the middle of our country. We don't have to keep giving powers we could simply take back control. Gideon Mele I feel it is more of a historical obligation on the part of the UK and ROI than a region of strategic importance. A country of 6 counties which lacks any notable natural resources will always struggle to be able to be self sufficient economically and this is made even more difficult by the inefficiencies associated with the administrative challenges of running such a politically unstable region. In some senses the main benefit for the UK currently is having NI in a relatively stable state where the UK is not losing lives or resources because of political instability there. Also being one of the key brokers of the complicated peace settlement provides the UK with a diplomatic legitimacy and removes any of the negative connotations that were once associated with British rule in Ireland in some parts of the world. The UK budget deficit required to subsidise the running of NI is an insurance policy, so that the UK does not have to pay the much higher costs associated with an unstable NI as it has had to in the past.

After all, Titanic was made in Belfast, NI, and maybe except for Dublin Belfast is the most important city in the entire island, especially considering its closer ties with London. From what I know it really was the troubles that made a lot in London view having the NI as a trouble and burden. And this feeling sort of strengthened by Brexit I feel. From what I heard it looks like Theresa May herself almost endorsed a referendum on the future of NI. It was actually ROI's PM Leo Vadakar who has been really against it.

Little Scottish fact here. Inverness is actually a geographical description in Gaidhlig, where the name is from (inbhir nis) that basically means it is the point where the river Ness reaches the sea. However, there are other places with a similar Gaidhlig name that don't have Inver in their English names. Thurso is an example of such, its called Inbhir Thurso in Gaidhlig but simply Thurso in English. A lot of Gaidhlig place names are descriptors for their physical location. You may see a place that translates literally to Large Cove that is just a big cove when travelling the north-western parts of Scotland.

Some common misunderstandings of the situation here, Staring with the likelihood of this happening. Brexit did destabilise the situation over the border. Hstorically while it us true that overwhelmingly protestants have supported the Union, Catholics have been divided, after all these are Catholics who chose to stay in the UK, when they had a right to settle in the South. Brexit has made them reconsider the benefits of that, much will depend on how the special status of NI under the Brexit deal works out. The victory of Sinn Fienn in the South actually makes unity less likely, the party has declining support in the North, and its rise in the South will make moderates in the North pause. The clue is that there is almost no pressure North or South for a border poll, as the impact of unity is so complex it makes the border issue simple by comparison. There is no confidence of success, and a fear of trying among nationalists. My hunch is that in 20 years time, we still won't see unity. Scotland is a more likely candidate, but not because of Brexit, which made almost no difference to the position of independence in the polls. In Scotland on both sides, being in or out of the Union is far, far more important than EU membership, indeed a Unionists and Nationalists split on Brexit in similar proportions. Actually Brexit makes independence tougher to deliver, just as in NI the border is simpler with both in the EU, the Scotland/England border is more complex if Scotland alone is in the EU. Scotland's choice is starker than in 2014, particularly given the loss in the value of oil reserves. However economics are not everything, and it seems likely that another very close vote will be held in the next decade. So what if Scotland left. I say Scotland, because even in NI did, it's small population and weak economy mean it would not impact the UK significantly. Scotland would make a difference, though the video over estimates it, it has just 7% of the UK GDP and population, and it requires greater expenditure per head. The financial consequences on Scotland of removing Trident bases, may make that removal a very slow process, Security Council seats are a political issue, I doubt Scotland comes into it much, as for the flag, we will just keep it as it is. Our traditions are full of redundant historical relics, what is one more?

Don't take the videos of this channel too seriously! Everyone, who have watched a few videos of the Caspian Report, knows that this is a Russia-friendly channel. Putin himself experienced the humiliation of the breakup of the Warsaw Pact as a young KGB agent in East Germany, later the breakup of the Soviet Union, and how many of the countries that was formally under Russian influence have turned to the European Union and NATO. We even see today how Russia looses many of the young well educated, who are moving to the West. The only things Russia have left are a strong military and resources like oil and natural gas. The foreign policy of Russia today is therefore of a more disruptive nature. Putin wants to weaken others by dividing them. He wants to split the European Union and other alliances between European Countries. If possible you want to divide countries themselves. One way of encouraging this division is through social media and publishing of videos that argue that a division of alliances between countries and a division of countries, which is favorable for Russia, is actually happening. Brexit is happening, so why not divide more. But as Lee Hallam argue in his comment, a further break up is unlikely in the short term. And more generally: I don't think people will exchange the freedom of speech and other democratic rights of European countries with anything Putin can offer! :-)

@James dow I think you will find that Scotland would not have the right to dictate what the UK called itself or what flag it used. Anymore than the UK actually has any rights over how those countries who use the union flag within their flag use it. In those cases it indicates an historic connection, not a current one, as it would here. It would be kept as the remaining UK would not simply be England, so the English flag would not be appropriate. And it would be any Scottish government jumping up and down making demands over such a thing that would look ridiculous.

I'm a long term subscriber of your channel and a Scot who also supports independence. It's an interesting video you cover here, however in the event of independence I believe Wales will follow with its own independence (their movement is increasingly where we were a decade ago). I think many of the concerns of a 'dimished UK' will actually be averted by the English in affect seeking independence and doubling down on their unique culture and externalisation. Opinion in the ruling conservative party and the wider electorate is of indifference to the Union. Had Scotland's votes been the deciding factor in Brexit then I believe there would have been all out rebellion against the Union from the Brexiteers. In terms of Scotland, I believe that independence will happen. The problem for unionists is that once people move to Yes there is a high retention, making the decision to support independence means believing that the UK is not working for you and your nation. The UK itself does not have any motivation to undertake the serious reforms required in order to win back voters with schemes such as the elusive federalism. Support for independence remains strong and as the next generation of voters join our elections there tend to be even more supportive of independence than the current population at large. As one of our most famous statisticians Sir John Curtice said last year, the SNP may merely have to play a waiting game. Brexit and open dismay of the UK's direction has amplified this. Covid-19 has indicated very low satisfaction levels with the British government's response. Independence isn't guaranteed by any means, but what once seemed impossible is now too close to call. The only thing that can save Britain will be undertaking reforms which go against the interests of the ruling Conservative Government and imposing a new system on a reluctant English public. I believe that these factors coupled by Britain's inability to change will result in independence. What could emerge next may even be more preferable, and I for one think we could see something akin to the Benelux system between the former UK and Ireland.

I’d be more than happy if Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England want to be Independent Nations again. If that is what they want and can afford to go it alone then so be it. England has not had it’s own unique voice, doesn’t have a Parliament of it’s own. If anything I’d like to see the UK become a Federal State where Westminster deals with just Defence and Foreign Policy, everything else could be done by the 4 Home Nations.

People who live in GB (brits) have very selfcentric view of the world or how does it work... From an outside view it looks different. We don't need GB as much as you think. (Though Brexit makes EU weaker.) I'm not an expert, but Scottland makes half of GB landmass? GB is a global power due to their political and military influence (it's a close ally to US); if Scottland gains independence, UK no longer controls whole "island" (they have lot of military bases in Scottland). England ends up being just a regular european player. Arguably many GB ex-colonies would change their flags when there is new UK king. All it does is decrease the influence of UK. Scotland would not be better off leaving a 300+ year old union it shares an island, a language, a monarch, a parliament, and a currency with only to join a union it shares none of those things with. As a Brit living in England. I would not want our Union to dissolve. We are always stronger together. We should be looking to strengthen our bonds - not attempt to dissolve them. The dangerous trend in the World is to break the whole thing up - and with that comes the curtailment of communication, cooperation, good-faith and trust in one-another. Once we do this, we will consign ourselves to a very bleak future. Unfortunately, there are people in the World who are so myopic in their perception, that they will want to break the whole world up into 'tribes'. This will only summon greater small-mindedness, separation, conflict, hatred, unhelpful rhetoric and loss of economic and societal stability. Unfortunately, our Kingdom will end once our Queen passes, but our Union which took hundreds of years to build and strengthen - doesn't have to dissolve. This requires our people to be united in heart, mind, thoughts, feelings and corresponding actions. Why throw away hundreds of years of sacrifice and hard work, efforts that granted us stability, prestige, peace and in general - a good life?

Nonsense. England is the one that said tribes are more important, not them. Centuries of peace? Nothern Ireland only got peace in our lifetime, and it was not granted to them by the UK, it took several parties and countries to make the agreement. The reality is, NI and Scotland are being forced out of the EU. The situation in NI was explained clearly to England and they decided to leave the EU and take NI out, they must now honour their agreements, and for once in their life do some sacrafice and hard work, after centuries of using an empire to do it for them, finally the English might have to make their own way in the world and quickly they will realize where their real base of power was. In the Irish who helped build the empire and then left seeing it collapse, and the scottish who kept it propt up these past years.

@@hendrikdependrik1891 It's not her job to do that though, since William of Orange was invited from the Netherlands to take power in 1688 the monarchs have had virtually no control over real politics. Complicating this, is that the Conservative party would be in a more powerful position after a breakup, with a much greater chance of getting, and maintaining, a majority in Parliament. The most important resistance to this is no party wants to preside over the breakup of the UK.
