Tj Anthony maybe in some ways .... she prob had to do lots of masking (like most teens) .... and convincing herself that she could handle it all and that once she reached a certain level it will be over .... but nope life is bull dozer and I guess she went crumbling ... but that didn’t have to be a bad thing because that’s where you unveil that mask and start healing

@@wowpoopstaylorsversion3267 did you read what I wrote? America blamed her for 9/11 because the troops stormed Saddam's palace and saw he had Britney Spears posters on his wall. Back in 2002, the media led the public to believe that Osama bin Ladin was hiding in Iraq after 9/11 and they had planned the attack with Afghanistan. Nobody knew back then that the US invaded Iraq to steal their oil and gold. So Americans blamed Britney saying that she was the reason suicide bombers hated America for its "sinful decadence".

I didn't know this but makes sense, I believe that I saw on tumblr or some other site a few years ago a promotional poster of that Live from Las Vegas concert she did in November 2001 to support the album with ''AMERICA's WHORE'' written all over it. I hope we have grown as humans to see how stupid is to blame a celebrity, a teen 19 year old celebrity for something so big as a terrorist attack or in another case, how girls are behaving. 2020, we need to stop giving such power in our heads to famous people to think they can raise children through a screen or control political issues.

Kevin 5012 Clearchannel which owned most radio stations in the US were originally supposed to be the sponser for her DWAD tour but then Britney dropped them and chose Pepsi instead. Her signing a contract with them led to her being blacklisted which affected her singles and album sales. However even with the radio ban, Britney’s popularity allowed her to continue to have huge success and not affect her career as much as it would’ve affected others. The ban was lifted after MATM was released.

Oh the Princess of Pop!!! Britney was in her prime during my teenage years. My favorite performance of hers was the 2000 VMAs when she shook people with her flesh colored outfit. I was 13 and jumping up and down cheering her on lol!!! Times have changed man! Her songs and outfits were so controversial and now they aren’t ANYTHING compared to what is shown now. Also, I was 20 during 2007 and now that I’m older...her 2007 meltdown is deeply understood. Like seriously her harassment got to the level of Micheal Jackson; she couldn’t go anywhere without being bothered or written about. Oh and social media was in its beginning stages during that time too so there is that!

Thankfully, in modern times, no media outlet would dare say or print the things they did about Britney back then die to our increased sensitivity around mental health. 13 years ago, if an artist check themselves into rehab they were labeled a total mess. Today, fans and media alike all champion a celebrity taking care of themselves. It's quite the turnaround, and a huge blessing

I just hope that if she makes a comeback she knows how to take advantage of the whole waiting she's putting the public in. Rihanna hasn't released anything in 4 years just like Beyoncé and they know that as soon as they release the lead single of their next album, that shit is gonna go straight to #1 just cause the public waited for it. So I hope Britney works with Max Martin or William Orbit or some other amazing producer who makes her go #1. She probably doesn't give a fuck about charts but if she wants to retire or become one of these artists who release an album every 5 years or even worst, only an album per decade such as Sade, she needs to come BIGGER and BETTER everytime.

It's all about who you work with. To me, her downslide in albums started with "Britney Jean" which was produced primarily by Will.i.am. Who clearly doesn't know Britney's style/strengths. Then there's "Glory", and that was the most forgettable yet. She needs to align herself with the modern-day hit makers that Rihanna, TS, KP and women like them do. I too just want one last Britney hit, that is all. Then she can ride off into the sunset.

I always viewed Miley’s ‘Cant Be Tamed’ album/era as her version of this Britney era, and the reason it only performed mildly well and didn’t spark *that* much controversy is because Britney already had set the standard for the “coming of age” popstar era with this album, so it was kind of expected when Miley did it and it didn’t garner as much controversy as she might’ve expected - That’s why ‘Bangerz’ needed to use weirdness and seemingly “wild behavior” in order for the shock value to work because simply switching your innocent image into a more “sexy” adult one had already been done by Britney here

Bangerz was more of a Stripped kinda thing. I never compared Bangerz to Britney or to In The Zone since Miley didn't play with innocence and sexyness but she played with this 'I'm a bad bitch looking for bisexual fun' attitude like Christina did. Now let's get this straight, maybe in a few years Bangerz will be considered great, but Stripped was an amazing album, yes, Christina became a messy bitch in that album but the material was brilliant since the release till this day.

This is my favorite Britney Spears era! It's one of the few Britney Spears albums that has absolutely no skips, all of the single choices were great, the Dream Within a Dream Tour was astonishing and the true definition of an early 2000s pop concert, and most importantly, this era gave us her 2001 MTV VMA performance where she danced with a snake! This was also a very transitional period for Britney. It is shocking to see how the singles underperformed in the United States, but they were still big hits overseas! Plus, the album debuted atop the Billboard 200 with nearly 750,000 copies. So, album-wise, tour-wise and video-wise, this was a great era. Single-wise (in the US)... eh...

@Daniel Kirk I also love the In the Zone era! That was when she fully made the transition into adulthood and gave us memorable videos and performances. The singles performed better in the US compared to those from Britney and "Toxic" became her first US top ten hit since "Oops!" but I honestly like the songs on Britney more than In the Zone. Britney is a fascinating hybrid of edgy, urban pop sounds and the teen pop sound that was on its way out at the time of release. I think why I like it so much is because of how interesting it sounds!

I don't like when people say that Britney is provocative of Madonna is provocative, just live them alone! They have the right to be sexy! It is frustrating because i use to listen celebrity tabloid news during the 2000s and they use to call them provocative all the time! Calling them provocative is a real insult for them and everytime i hear someone talking about Britney, Madonna or Nicki Minaj for exemple, they always calling them provocative and it is relly annoying and irritating! I just can't take it anymore and i fell bad for those celebrites! They deserve respect.

I've never seen a young white girl like Britney dance like that at the time. She had a fluid dance style that no other (Jessica Simpson, Christina Aguilera, etc. Her song selection was almost perfect. Britney was that girl back then and saved the music industry at the time.

I don't think the newer generation realizes just how big she was during 1998-2003. As big as they get outside of MJ. && tho she got crap for lip synching, she was an extremely talented performer. Her story will always be tragic but I'm just glad that she's alive and doing better.

I miss the old Brittany and her prime years. She is a living legend and one of the best thing and artist happen in and to pop music. I wish her the best even tho she won't reach that height of greatness ever again. And that's no shade and alright.......she have nothing left to prove she goes down in music history.

Forever my favorite Britney album. I remember listening to this so many times I broke my CD player. I tried very hard to memorize the Slave 4 U dance routine. The fanaticism for her can only be compared to the Beatles. She was all 4 Beatles in one. That was her level of fame and power.

The Neptunes-produced tracks I'm a Slave 4 U and Boys were fire! Very of the moment but you could still release both now and they'd be hits. The rest of the album was pretty average with throwbacks to it's two predecessors. In the Zone took it all the way with what those two tracks were doing.

Britney was literally ahead of her time. In a time of homophobia, racism, sexism, etc. never once did Britney ever say anything offensive to any group of people. Instead, she supported everyone. Even when she was asked extremely inappropriate questions that would never be asked in today’s era, she still remained extremely professional and she has always managed to keep her cool. This is why Britney is more than just a pop star, she’s an icon.

When this album was released, Britney gave her all and the Dream Within a Dream tour proved she was the definition of a true legendary performer. We knew we were in the presence of something big but looking back at it now, it was even bigger than we thought. The VMA performance is, TO ME, the most important moment in music television.

Artists today could never, back in the day, popstars used to give interviews, live performances all the time, documentaries and TV specials showing their lives... Look Selena for example, she wants to stay out of the public eye, it's hard to see her in tv programs and almost never do performances because she says she doesn't want her personal live being public... It's easy, just don't be famous, and start working and living like us

For me, that's the reason why Britney was a mega superstar, she was always on TV, magazines, doing live performances, filming backstage moments on tour... People say that MTV was better before, and it's true, because artists used to be public, I used to love "making the video" and "MTV diary with...", I don't think pop stars now would do it 🤷🏻‍♀️
