Underwater archaeology is where vastly more resources need to be directed. There is an entire unknown world out there on the continental shelves, down to about 500 feet below the surface. The Black Sea should be on the top of the list for this type of exploration.

It is good to remember that the melting of the European Ice Cap ( in conjunction with the Canadian Ice cap) increased not only the level of the world's oceans, also hugely increased the river level of the rivers draining into the Black Sea Basin. Whilst the scablands of the northwestern USA give an indication of incredible outflows, how much investigation has been done to determine the impact of the melt of the European ice cap? The combination of sea water inflow plus huge floods in the draining rivers could account for the rapid rise in the Black Sea water levels.

But at the same time, claiming that the Ice Age ended 3500 years ago makes this very outdated, right? What happened then to cause any catastrophy? First of all, it was Thera eruption, basically right in the centre of the pre-antique world, which destroyed the very centre of that civilization. The tsunami caused by it might add to joining Mediterranean with Black seas, clearly. But they also mentioned an initial inflow from the Black Sea to Mediterranean: fine, but that would be the true end of the Ice age, the Younger Dryas times 12800 years ago. That could have easily swept over the BS to the current water levels. That could have been the true Noah flood time. But then it might have subsided and people resettled the shallow areas. We know the Göbekli Tepe type civilizations existed at the time, and so would last their stories. But later, perhaps at these 3500 years ago, there might have been the more gradual inflow from the Mediterranean (as an aftermath of Thera explosion), which forced these new settlers move out, although that date is missing the fact that the Mediterranean sea levels had to be higher already since Y Dryas. What doesn't fit here? The timing of king Dardanus? Could there be two kings of the same name? What compelling dating studies and results have been done around these finds? Contrary to what the current history says about when the Greek speaking tribes came to Aegean sea area (~5000 years ago), I imagine that some of the stories talk about earlier times. As a best known example we can use the story about Phæton, which is associated by Plato (and Socrates this way) with the destruction of Atlantis, which we of late connect with the Younger Dryas catastrophy. Before that, the Mediterranean sea levels were 130 meters lower, which, as anyone can imagine, makes the land area in there much greater; many more islands must have existed there etc. I would not question the timing of end of the last Ice Age, for sure.

Well look at the flooding going on in Nevada / Las Vegas just this week. The grand canyon was created by an ancient river. Imagine what the sea-levels and hurricane action had to be to fill that land structure. We're seeing more water everywhere. There's evidence for 'great floods' all over the world.

Great Docu with bold utterances such as Mammoths living around 2000 BC, Different tech cultures living side by side,. Contradictions as well, with different scientists speaking about the transformation of the basin in their own way when motivating their research, data, and POV. This is e REAL, valuable, vivid debate, not a pre-confectioned exposition of a topic already in its dogma stadium, as it always happens in Egyptology reports. I understand this is an oldy, but I wish all (pre)History documentaries were at the same level of honesty as this specific one. Thanks for sharing! Young Earther Creationists are forever putting forth straw arguments like Volcanic theories without giving quantified data. I am an old earther Creationist, how old? Well since scripture is indefinite then best turn to science for Answers... One early old earther was Lord Kelvin and his thermal gradient method. The time betwixt Gen1&Gen2 is Unspecified. Creation of Man Woman&earth was ancient times as Jesus stated. But from Adam Eve and Eden was about 4kBC as seen in bible chronology. The Garden Eden watered by 4rivers is far different from earth watered by a mist. Again time betwixt these are Unspecified as those times are irrelevant to redemption by seed of Eve. That seed crushed the power of evil and His kingdom will come and His will shall be done on earth as in heaven, world without end Amen.

I thought you were talking my language! I've been writing about a theory of the ancient past, similar to what I heard on the first part of video, with the proviso that you take a "world ocean" view and I think it was something entirely different. I can connect the origins of that water, how it affected the modern world, and where it went to (not to mention a disturbing thought about the implications of the answer) with the spread of languages, the creation of the world we take for granted, and many of the riddles that populate the ancient past, a time of chaos, dramatic change, and enigmatic endings. Then I see you are Ice Age proponents, and that just isn't what happened. Wow. Big let down. You had the water movement and the plate depression right, but where the water came from, where it went, you're reciting a theory that doesn't stand up to scrutiny. Water is an elemental force, probably the source of the old Biblical barb "Man plans, God laughs". Water can be controlled, but it always ready to do its worst, and always seeks its own level. The "flood" that gouged the bottom of the Black Sea, and blew out the Bosporus/Dardanelles (including the plains north of Troy), was not from a "World Ocean". The floodwaters came the emptying of a (probably) vast "inland sea" that had separated Asia from Europe and India, a body wide and varied, probably shallow in many places, with salt marshes in others, but still a lot of water, when something pushes it up, as the Himalayas had. It is important to keep in mind, as the water raced to its outlets from the steppes, through the Bosporus and Dardanelles, and across the Aegean Sea, to carve out the archipelago, the crest continuing across the Grecian mainland, and beyond. The old sea now emptying into the Mediterranean was not the only body of water on the planet. What force could send a half a trillion acre-feet of water in a tsunami-from-hell a thousand feet high, maybe more? The rush of water westward would have raised levels around the world. Not that there were all that many large bodies, at the time, probably more large lakes and a scattering of seas. Not that long ago, the world was very different from the world we know today. The changes happened during and before the 2nd Millennium BC, with some preceding, in the 3rd Millennium BC, and a little in the 1st, putting the finishing touches on, in a manner of speaking. The narrative that evolved, over the long centuries, eventually led to each and everyone of us, in terms of our genetics, language groups, and the paths that brought us all to the modern world of 5G megapixel reality. Humans are an ancient race, whose history we know little of, but we've been told they were mere hunters for a hundred millennia, until they suddenly had a spark and our history began. We know parts of the story, but parts have been so misinterpreted and obscured, by religionists, charlatans, and the sheer weight of the thousands of years since the events of our ancient past, as told to us in myths, legends, and Bible stories. These are more properly termed "survivor stories", and like most, there is an element of exaggeration. Also like most, there is a strong element seemingly ignored, that of truth. Something titanic happened. More than once, and more than we can begin to understand, never having experienced anything of the sort. The ancient world was ripped apart, seas were emptied into others, growing and expanding, "All the water that's ever been on Earth is still here" is valid as far back as the dawn of the 8th Century BC (from our perspective), but things change fast, from that date back to "Noah's Flood", circa the mid-25th Century BC, when Earth received its oceans. What we know for certain of our cumulative history before Noah becomes a quick read, fast, reduced to lists of names long gone. and forgotten. We think the Sphinx might be something left from a time almost a thousand years before Noah, maybe earlier. I believe the three pyramids on the Giza Plateau were built before Noah, too. The other, imperfect versions of pyramids were by later "Egyptians", trying to duplicate their great-grandfathers' accomplishments. Time waits for no one ... ©BW2023 09/27/2023 anarchitek™

It's always been called "The Ukraine". "Where did the word Ukraine come from? The name of Ukraine likely comes from the old Slavic term for 'borderland', as does the word krajina. In the English-speaking world during most of the 20th century, Ukraine (whether independent or not) was referred to as "the Ukraine"."
@margaretford1011
@margaretford1011 11 ай бұрын
@@oldmanfromscenetwentyfour8164 In 1993, the Ukrainian government explicitly requested that the country be called “Ukraine” instead of “The Ukraine”. And in 2012, the Ukrainian embassy in London further stated that it is politically and grammatically incorrect to use a definite article with Ukraine. Use of Ukraine without the definite article has since become commonplace in journalism and diplomacy. (Above adapted from text in Wikipedia article called “Name of Ukraine”. ) Thus, we can tell that this video is dated by its reference to “The Ukraine”. Hey, I’m old, too. The names of things have changed during our lifetimes, whether we like it or not. And we can still usually get away with calling objects by their old names, like “creme rinse” for “conditioner” - though my niece incessantly teases me about that. But when names are changed because the old name was insulting for one reason or another (as the “The” was to the Ukrainian people), people who do not want to hurt the feelings of others do try to adapt to the new terminology. Don’t you agree?
