They definitely exceeded expectations this season all the way up to the final weeks. Then they were who we thought they were dropping 1st place in their division to lose home ice in the 2nd round. After that, no one was sure that they'd beat Toronto. Bruins trade for Pat Maroon because they were manhandled by Florida last year in the playoffs but when the time comes, it's Pasta who fights Tkachuk??? I get that they're mostly rookies and they will improve with pro experience. Bruins need a Top Center, and stronger defensemen. Yes plural defensemen. They need to be able to get out of their own end. They need to be able to challenge the forecheckers, not just hope the puck comes to them and try to slap it out. Too many turn overs in their own end. They also need a better neutral zone scheme as whole. Lastly, What's up with Fabian Lyssel? Is he developed or is trade bait?

Positives: Swayman, Lohrey, Poitras, Peeke, Brazeau, Beecher and Heinen (was solid, more than I'd expected). I like JdB and despite him being the top scorer this playoffs I expected more from him. 5G 6A is good for 1 series, not for 13 games. Having said that, Zacha, Pasta, Geekie, they were all bellow expectations. They need to DO more, have they done it we would be talking about Eastern Conference Finals and not end of season. Cheers

Bruins were projected as a glorified Wild Card team at best. Hell some had them not making the playoffs altogether. Bruins did what typical Bruins teams do they overachieved. Fuelled by participating in a league high 26 Overtimes the points added up. No one asks how but how many… I was surprised Toronto lost series, but shocked Bruins won. Bruins got by a better team. The next better team Florida was waiting and that’s when the floor fell in. Bruins couldn’t score goals. A combination of no puck luck with chronic overpassing was the cocktail of disaster. The rebuild continues. 100th Anniversary made its mark in a workmanlike transition. Been a Bruins fan for over fifty years. Ain’t no quit here. Go Bruins!
