One of the most shocking events in European History was when the French King Louis XVI was executed using the guillotine. For centuries the monarchy had ruled over France, but as the country suffered economically and the people suffered, the French Revolution began. The Bastille was stormed and the King eventually was arrested and imprisoned. Louis XVI was placed on trial and then was sentenced to death after being declared of being a traitor and his execution was hastily arranged. At the Place de la Revolution on the 21st January 1793, Louis was brought from his prison in front of a huge crowd.
He was met by his executioner who prepared him for his death. His arms were bound, and he was led up the steps to the guillotine that stood on the scaffold. Shortly after he was beheaded in front of the jeering crowd, and the executioner raised his head up above the crowd and cried out, 'Viva Le Revolution!' Following the execution of the King, the killing continued in France as his Queen Marie Antoinette was later executed. Also 'The Terror' occurred in which opponents of the Revolution were also executed using the guillotine.
So join us today as we look at, 'The BRUTAL Execution Of King Louis XVI Of France.' Remember to support our channel, please make sure to subscribe.

Louis XVI gave women rights ,near Versailles he had housing build for wounded soldiers and support them, abolished torture, helped the poor and gave them rights to own property, promoted enlightenment and abolished the death penalty for deserters he also supported George Washington and this was probably the most that had him executed. PS: Louis XVII survived the temple. We are the survivors

Americans have short memories. We literally owe our independence to France and yet we behave as if our faithful ally France owes us. It makes me sad that Louis genuinely wanted to be loved, yet this…
@landonlacy1954
@landonlacy1954 2 жыл бұрын
For one the French did not support America during the revolution out of some kind of desire to help us or because they believed the Americans had a right to declare independence. No they supported America out of their own personal desire for revenge against the British for the French and Indian war. Two we saved them and the rest of Europe in ww1 and again in ww2. Do you even know how much France still owes us for that assistance? And not only that but America from the day the Second World War ended up until this very day. The United States has provided and continues to provide the majority of troops and resources for defense of France and much of western Europe, America literally pays more for Frances national defense than the French do. There can be no doubt that the French helped us in the revolution even if it was out of a selfish desire for revenge. But I’d say America has paid that debt several times over in blood and money.

@@landonlacy1954 Absolutely correct about the French. They only helped the US in terms of arms food and their forces to stop Britain from gaining more land. Louise as good as bankrupted his Country helping the US and this meant little or no food for his people and this lead to the French Royal family being killed. Britain was fighting the frogs and various other countries and was overstretched defending its empire and the American campaign was nothing more than a half hearted side show. The Brits had much bigger fish to fry and they did in the end.

@@landonlacy1954 The same can be said about the US' involvment in WW1 & WW2. In WW1, the US arrived late in the game.. and Germany had already lost. France actually won this one. In WW2, again the US arrived late in the game.. and Germany also had already lost. This time to the Russians on the Eastern Front, where 90% of all casualties took place. The US' solo victory is actually against the Japanese in the Pacific theatre. After that, they lost all the subsequent wars (Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan..)

@@goofygrandlouis6296 I'm sorry I am not trying to be rude or disrespectful. But as a history major and military history instructor for the last 5 years at a military academy. I have heard many inaccurate claims and views on military history. But the claim that world war 1 had already been won by the time America entered the war is absurd. But not nearly as absurd as the claim that world war 2 had already been won by the time America entered the war. I mean both of those claims are so ridiculous that I would highly recommend that you retain the services of a lawyer and sue the hell out of your history teachers or better yet track those bastards down and slap the shit out of them. Don't worry about any legal consequences. Because once you explain your opinion on American involvement in WW2 in particular. The judge will see that the ass beating you rightfully dealt out to this "History teacher" was more than justified. Hell if the judge takes dealing out justice seriously enough. He will probably deal out a few punches at those ignorant bastards himself.

The people of France finally brought about revolution very simply because the French people for one thing were forever being burdened with debt they themselves had no part in accruing in the first place. But that's hardly the worst. There were entire palaces built at absurd expense which neither served or had any function or purpose but obscenity or decadence. Parties, banquets, items from abroad (incredibly ridiculous simple elitist penchants), literally insane amounts of money was spent on the most extreme vanity: clothes and hair and a single item of jewelry could bankrupt the country all by itself ! While the people of France could survive only. You can survive on a single set of rags to wear only, and you could sleep on the streets irregardless of the weather, but if you could not eat - there is no living in rags or sleeping on the street. Some feel that this is wrong, that it's terribly unfair - that it is even criminal. Some feel that this is the natural order of all things, that this is the true will of God; so they are inherently those who deserve the better quality of living - they are born into this station in life, - how can that be anything but right ? Right or Wrong has got no foundation of meaning so it is entirely and completely free to use virtually any rationale in the world as it's base or understanding. The bowels of human behavior thus has free reign. The truth of morality then cannot be a fact. Knowledge can only come by way of fact; otherwise you are completely free, - free to believe absolutely anything you want. The more that this is given over to the collective - the more certain it is relegated to truth. What frightens me is WHY I believe this.

Obviously Louis xvi made mistakes and he was still guilty of overspending but he didn't deserve to be executed. He was young when he inherited the throne and he was immediately pressured to solve the mess that his father and grandfather caused. He had a good heart but sadly he was too young and incompetent to solve the country's problem. I think most people in his situation would be overwhelmed with the pressure of ruling a country at its worst time. Lousis overspent so he cope with the pressure he was facing
