4 жыл бұрынThe arrival of more ES44AHs and the start of ET44AH deliveries in 2015 did not bode well for the elder statesman AC6000s at CSX. The final nail in the coffin was the arrival of Hunter Harrison and 'Precision Scheduled Railroading' in early 2017, which brought the rapid retirement of older, less efficient locomotives. The majority were spun off to Progress Rail's lease fleet, who resold a handful to the Western New York & Pennsylvania Railroad.
Volume 6 of The Brute Squad bids a fond farewell to the CSX AC6000s with scenes in Petersburg, Ashland, and Doswell, VA, as well as Greenwich and Berea, OH. As a bonus, two scenes featuring Union Pacific's 'convertible' AC6000s are included; one at Wilsons, VA in 2015, and the final encounter in Pennsylvania on Bennington Curve on October 24, 2017.

My favorite GEs out of all other GEs the CW60AC AC6000CW man I hate CSX sold some of them to a scrap dealer and a short line railroad

I see you visited Berea that’s my neck of the woods lol. I try to go there when We are in Ohio visiting family. Definitely a train paradise haha

FFV Junior still talks about that trip like it was the epic journey of a lifetime. We'll get back there one of these days, hopefully to do Berea in much better weather.

How many AC6000CWs are still in use as of June 2020?

Western New York & Pennsylvania has 8 of them. I believe CSX still has the first 3 (600-602), but in storage. The rest went to Progress Rail's lease fleet, but where or if any of those are currently active, I don't know.

As far as I know, they were all either scrapped or sold off. Many were spun off to the PRLX lease fleet, a handful went to the WNY&P.

I’ve heard that 600-602 are still being stored. AC4400’s in the skin of AC6000’s.
