@@patriktakacs I love it, tons of clarity, detail, control, effortlessness and the functionality is awesome too. If you're looking for a warm and romantic sound this amp is not that. It's almost like if Focal made an amp, I would expect it to sound like this. Of course you can further cater the sound but using warmer speakers or a warmer DAC like denafrips. I think the openness and clarity are a great foundation for a great system but to be fair that is also inline with my personal taste :)

Damping Factor is simply a mathematical ratio of the amps internal power supply resistance/output circuit compared to the load. Which as you say includes speaker cables, connectors,.... A damping factor of 100 at 8ohms means the amp's output stage resistance is 0.08ohms. 8ohms/100=0.08ohms. Damping factors much past that are typically not audibly better. What is more important, once you get a good 100+ DF, is the bandwidth. While low frequency is more demonstrateable, merely tap a woofer cone with the amp on or off, and many DFs don't list nor measure at full bandwidth, control of the mid and tweeter is every bit as important. A good full bandwidth DF can add midrange detail and reduce high end harshness. And many very high DF amps do so by using lots of feedback in their designs. And that makes amps sound worse. So a really high DF is sometimes a bad thing. I always included DF explanation and demos in my amp seminars by taking a stand alone speaker and tapping the woofer. Then putting my keys across the terminal and tapping the woofer. The difference is amazing. Especially with a loose woofer like a ported design.

I was very tempted to get this Amplifier when I was shopping around but the 1 set of RCA inputs was a deterrent and I did not need the 300W for my small sized audio room. I own the Buchardt S400 MK2's and they are phenomenal so I do expect this amplifier is a wonderful product.

Tasty! I’ve heard that many bass players prefer class D for their sound. No denying its a lighter amp to carry for power. Class D does make a nice neutral platform for pedals too. I suspect the damping factor may have something to do with bass players preference. Again though, that’s what I’ve heard said, not what I know for sure.

Nice review. Let's not include Class A in the picture to hype up Class D at this price range. Pass Labs as the start of really good Class A onwards to Boulder Gryphon etc, just to focus on expectations. What's interesting is this as good as the Devialet or Lyngdorf, maybe M10 NAD? Because Class D still has a signature less than before but still it's there. Matching would be helpful what type of sound that could match certain speakers such as LS50, Buchardt S400, Klipsch, Magnepan....

I'd love for them to make an iteration of this amp with 3 to 4 analog inputs and none of the digital stuff. Or at least an option to completely turn off the digital functions for a pure analog mode. I like the company and class d. The annoying part about high quality class d amps is the incessant inclusion of a plethora of digital functions I do not need nor want. I like my streamer and I like my DAC. I just want a top-notch class d amp with integrated preamp (i.e., volume control) and would love it to be a Buchardt.

A damping factor of 4500, lets assume that is calculated with a 4 Ohm load (this amp does double its power between an 8 and 4 Ohm load, very good) that means the impedance of the amp is 0,89mOhm. That is a ridiculously low number, so low that it can not be taken from the amplifier output terminals (they have a much larger contact resistance). My feeling is that this number must be straight from the data sheet of the amplifier chip. In any case in practice any damping factor above 100 is a waste, considering binding posts, speaker cables, cross over networks etc.
@thevinylattack
