the simple answer is people (normally teenagers) want to put things down by pretending they are "too childish" for them, so a race that emulates kung fu panda is ripe for the "uhhh casual kids are ruining our game" crowd, I agree it was a fantastic expansion, 5.1 and 5.2 were some of the best content they ever did, but it never got the chance It deserved because people couldn't see past the pandas.

They're idiots who take offense that a game that never took itself seriously to begin with (and that contains numerous pop-culture references and jokes) had the audacity to include something as childish as kung fu pandas... I absolutely loved Mists and it's still my favorite expansion. It looked and sounded beautiful, and Pandaren are so cute.

Largely because of its timing. By all rights, MoP should never have come after Cataclysm; arguably Cataclysm should never have happened the way it did. Lore-wise it introduced something that was ultimately game-changing, something that should have forever rocked the world to its core and introduce a terrible evil that was hyped as unstoppable...then suddenly pandas, out of nowhere. Given the fact that a sequel to Kung Fu Panda was being released at the time, and the apparent rumor going around that the expansion's trailer was initially an April Fools Joke going over the top, and not to mention the problems that the game had throughout its time (largely an extension of problems introduced by Cataclysm, such as essentially making dungeons a joke and focusing largely on raids) made the natural response to most fans to be to consider it the worst expansion. Granted, however, Pandaria isn't without merit. Like I said, the timing of the expansion is largely the reason why it got so much flak. If Cataclysm/DeathWing/OldGods wasn't a thing, Pandaria probably would have gotten much less hate. The music in the expansion is probably some of the best in the game, it introduced a decent side-story that was completely original rather than following on the hype of the story set down by the previous Warcraft games, and it also expanded some of the visuals to the engine that would later evolve into the visual upgrades we would see in Warlords of Draenor. All in all, it wasn't that bad. This is largely from an observer's point of view. I've never played WoW and I doubt I ever will in the near future, but I've kept track of its lore and progress since Wrath of the Lich King. I'm pretty confident in my knowledge over it.

Halcyon Industries I find it a bit sad that people always bring up the panda movies and claim that's what inspired the Pandaren, while in reality it was most likely Dreamworks who stole from Blizzard. Without Warcraft 3 and The Frozen Throne there probably would be no Kung Fu Panda franchise today.

Sadly good storytelling is a think of the past... Pandaria was the last drop of it...

Luker Stormrage myself and a number of people i know, and know of, like cata. the only main problem with it was the fact that everything we did was "merely a setback" for deathwing. he always had another card up his scale until the dragonsoul raid.

Well they actually fought the fight against the legion, when the pandarens were hiding :D ... that's why they probably weren't in Reign Of Chaos, helping orcs, elves and humans :D

Filip Daněk In the first sundering (when 80% of Kalimdor was completely destroyed because of the Well of Eternity's implosion) the orcs were not in Azeroth. I think only the Kaldorei were fighting the Burning Legion. In the second invasion the orcs arrived to Azeroth, corrupted by the demons. At that time, Pandaria was already hidden beyond the mists.

I am sorry if I said something wrong, I know nothing about what happened before Reign of Chaos, I thought that this invasion in The Burdens of Shaohao is the invasion from RoCh.

Summary: Titans Built Azeroth (+ everything else), Azeroth gets taken over by old gods, Titans return, Kill single old god, Lock them all in the heart of Azeroth, Provide Well of eternity (not sure on this), Make Dragon Aspects, Set Sargeras to defend everything, He got corrupted, made burning legion, gathered army, found Azeroth, yummy well of eternity, decided to corrupt elves and summon him and his army through it, Got rekt by some High Elf (became night elves) heros (illidan, malfurion, tyrande) and dragon aspects. Corrupted night elves took a tiny bit from well of eternity and put into sunwell after a while, became high elves again, meanwhile night elves granted immortality for their bravery and tree of life. Then thousands of years pass, The burning legion (as it was now called) found the orcs, gave them fel blood, led them against Azeroth, sort of rekt humans but not quite.. Humans + high elves + Dwarves + Gnomes won the war. Then maybe another war with orcs and humans i dunno. Then Thrall Freed his people and Grommash's people (clans) and led them to Kalimdor from warning of the Watcher. The Human kings ignored the watcher when he said they were gonna get fucked. Night Elves sort of listened but they were in Kalimdor and in no serious peril. Jaina however listened and took her people to Kalimdor as well (theramore) The orcs were getting ass kicked by night elves so Grommash (and his clan) drank fel blood and killed their demi-god (Cenarius). Thrall came back and was like wtf and then he and Grommash fended off a mini invasion and killed Mannaroth, Grommash Dies, Thrall and Jaina become friends and they reach alliance with the Night Elves as well. Meanwhile Eastern Kingdoms gets anally fucked when their prince (arthas) betrays them and kills the king then leads the scourge to defeat his own people (first DK then Lich King). The scourge moves to Azeroth to try and Kill the night elves and get at the Tree of Life (war of the ancients) They fight bravely and let the tree blow up and kill the Burning Legion commander that was leading the Scourge and the Burning Legion into Azeroth. Arthas becomes lich king when the scourge is almost wiped out, and the High elves get thier well destroyed all amongst this, the high elves become the blood elves be restoring something (I dunno) and the rest is WoW

I never played anything except dota, but the art is amazing, the narrating and story are superb, and it's totally a self contained story anyone could relate to.

There's always time to come back and play it. The Valley of Eternal Blossoms is destroyed, though, so you'll no longer see what it used to look like, but there's still plenty of lore to discover.

That's a good point. Retrospect is 20/20 I remember thinking, the Old God bit from SoO then again from all of the Bling-o-tron vanity texts. But then again looking further back, Old God's had always been pulling strings in every expansion. I like the mystery that surrounds them I hope their story gets handled properly unlike WoDs.

With Wrathion's warning, and his wish to protect Azeroth, and all his plans that ended with him forcing the Iron Horde upon us so that the Horde and the Alliance would be forced to unite and work together, to be strong, and to fight for their home Azeroth.
