Short version of the 20 minute video: I am impressed!
I think next time I will have to cook something....
"The missing link between the Bushbox and the Bushbox XL"
And it gets the job done!
All in all it can take about 15-16 minutes to get your water boiling from the moment you light the fire till you see a rolling boil. Depending on how well you prepare your kindling, what kind of wood you use and how much fuel you put on your fire.

Cool video! I haven't given those bush boxes much thought until now. Now I kind of want one just like the one you used today. I enjoyed getting a look at your cooking kit. I like the Esbits too. They are very light and no mess, no fuss unlike stove alcohol can be. As always, great hearing from you. :-)

Thank you! I prefer the Ultra Light Bushbox for short hiking trips. Weighs much less and I do not need to find pieces of wood in order to have a fire. This one I would probably use if I go on camping trips or whenever I go out and plan to have a meal. They are of good quality andd the designed/producer(Detlev) tests each model himself before putting them out on the market.

Very nice. Sometimes, when the weather is coming in or your cold and tired one does not want to fumble with a stove. Its the perfect size too. Thanks for the tip. Didn't know this was available, although I have the original I'll use this one more. Nice kit BTW.

I like such stoves for longer hikes when you have the tie or for short camping trips. The XXL is more capable. no doubt, but this one, imo, does a good job even cmpared witht the full sized XXL

Thanks for the review John! Some things I would like to suggest. -The dry stuff on the ground should be cleared away to prevent risk of forest fire. -Metal Nalgene bottle instead of plastic. You can boil more water faster. Cheers!
@SpartanJohns
@SpartanJohns 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the suggestions. When it is dry outside I do clear everything up. But witht he bushbox you really need not worry. This is one reason why I like such stoves. As for the metal Nalgene...yes, I have given it some thought...but they are quite expensive and since I always pair the Plastic Nalgene with a metal cup...it works... I am not really in "survival" mode...I am just a small bushcrafter :)

awesome thank you for the reply I watched lots of your videos they have no B.S. they are encouraging and I loved it when you spoke truthfully about batoning with your knives first because you allow us to know the quality of the products you show and test from knives to packs to sharpening and the warranty the company provides like the broken hatchet and broken big chopper second many so called experts ( fake ones )on you tube criticize your batoning on the comments yet still do it themselves with excuses because they are not sure of the product they are promoting if it will fail at the time of filming however you are not afraid to go ahead and just do it also because you know the product you purchased and because you are not afraid to say with the meaning ( my knife my money my choice i like it ) likewise for me my knife so i do as i please however you still give the real advice like the boreal test because of you first second to Craig from forestwalker 111 i checked Abe at divingsparrowknives and have several of his knives 2 in 1095 and 4 in the steel you introduced me to the RWL34 that are still yet to come i will make sure i will mention it again to Abe that because of your tests of his products i got in touch with him and if i was close to where you live i will let you check my diving sparrow knives specially the ones in RWL34 , Abe made me a Ranger in convex geometry . thank you John keep on making pretty awesome videos and i wish you all the best good luck

Good looking stove. Looks to compare in size to the Emberlit. I have the same China made pouch and find it tight for my GSI mug. Tip or trick... put the cup in upside-down on top of the water bottle... comes out much easier. Thanks for sharing
@SpartanJohns
@SpartanJohns 7 жыл бұрын
THanks for the tip. I used to do that but then when I had to take out the water bottle only I always had to take out the cup first. I like to keep the small foldabe cup on top. This pouch will accomodate 2 metal cup if you ffel you need that. The LF is a great option if you want a stove you can load up with wood and not carry the weight of the full size XXL version. y favorite still has to be the UL.

Mine held up great. No doubt that the ones from condor or something from maxped will outlast it, but then again, those come at a much higher price. I carried mine every weekend for about a year. No problems so far. Nowadays I tae it out eery once in a while when i plan to have a meal....

Thank you for showing the LF, Denis! And thanks for demonstrating that you can't snuff it by overloading - the water would however boil MUCH faster if you use just a very few pieces of wood...

Whats this soup secret you have Detlev?! :) Craig
@SpartanJohns
@SpartanJohns 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Detlev! I am sure you are right...more space, more flames, more heat. But I did want to see how long I can leave it unnatended... I am never in a hurry out here and the fact that I can stuff it full of wood and it won't go out is much more important to me than a quick boil. I will try to find the time to test it again soon...

I need to get myself one these. I'm not a fan of butane kitchens because I like sustainability and self sufficiency. This looks perfect for heating canned food in the can and that grill looks perfect for banock bread aswell. It looks like it could be a survival item aswell by using it as platform for starting a larger fire in bad/wet/windy weather aswell. Do you think steel and titaniun will hold up hust aswell to the test of time?
@SpartanJohns
@SpartanJohns 7 жыл бұрын
My favorite is the Ultra Light. Works great for hikes with esbit cubes. As for the titanium version. Detlev has tested his XXL (Ti)for a long period of time before putting it out on the market. he used it when he was here in Romania. It looks to e to hold up just as well as the stainless steel version. The LF(Large foldable) Bushbox. It is a bit smaller than the XXL and, imo, it woks just as well

Great vid. Cool stuff. But missing three things a dog, some spiked coffee and most important a good looking lady to keep warm. I just had my 68 birthday. At 68 I definitely need a stove, a dog, a little spiked coffee and of course, the most important a pretty lady. Hahahahaha....Without those the world seems awfully cold, LOL...............

Hi .... if you overfill the LK you will not get as much heat as you would from a less packed stove ... this is from experience and from Bushbox themselves .... atb Jim
@SpartanJohns
@SpartanJohns 6 жыл бұрын
true...less oxigen means a slower burn and less heat...but if you already have a good bed of coals...and put in bigger chucks of wood you might enable air flow... testing these things can be fun...
